Steelers surprised by no-huddle

I am more than willing to have rational discussions about Tomlin's strengths and weaknesses, I am not a blind supporter of everything he does or does not do. I do not think he is anywhere near as bad you feel he is but he is certainly not perfect. Regardless you never actually support any your drivel you just hate without reason. The only thing you add to this board is comic relief with incessant predictable anti Tomlin rage. Perhaps you just need your diaper changed.

I have detailed Tomlin's myriad of faults but then fan boys like you are too ignorant to talk real football between changing your feminine products

You give a laundry list of hate but no real support for your statements and when others give actual arguments to you with support you deride them as Fanboys or worse and do not engage in reasoned well thought out debate. Calling someone names does not enhance your argument it just makes you look like a fool who has no support for his comments other than pure hate or stupidity. I think someone was not ever taught to play nice with others, and was and probably is a pathetic bully who can only win by fear or intimidation but has a problem that no one fears or is intimidated by him so he reverts to infantile name calling.

Really tool ? There have been long threads the last few weeks detailing Tomlin's litany of coaching deficiencies and his overall lack of intelligence discussed with much better posters than you. His awful in game coaching, his total lack of half time adjustments, his lack of good clock management, his lack of in game adjustments and his stupid act of high fiving, chest bumping and being one of the guys in lieau of actual coaching were highlighted and agreed upon by all but the ill informed Tomlin dick su kers like yourself. Again, no one could answer my one question, what does the idiot do well ,?

Lets see, He has a winning percentage on par with Cowher, He has won as many Superbowls as Cowher and been to as many. I am willing to give him sometime just like I was willing to give Cowher some time. I live in Cincinnati and I can tell you 9 out of 10 Bengals fans would trade us Marvin Lewis for Tomlin in a heartbeat. Tomlin is still learning but he has never lost a team he has always managed to keep their respect and keep us in the playoff hunt. All I ask is to have a competitive team and have a chance every year. We are pretty ******* spoiled as a fan base and whiners like you are the symptom. Not many teams have the success we have had under Tomlin. If you can't enjoy being a fan of this team then go follow a bunch oh cheaters like the Patriots who by the way haven't won **** since they were caught. Great coach there! You can't always have the best in NFL it is set up to punish the good teams and reward the bad to keep things competitive. I do not care how good your coach or staff is you will have down times. If we start having truly bad seasons then I would be all aboard the fire Tomlin train but we haven't. a couple 8-8 seasons does not ruin my life and make me hate the coach when I see potential to be great. Remember those the grass is not always greener. You would think we were the freaking Browns the way you cry.

nice post, Lebanon. We are spoiled, aren't we? As much as MT ticks me off for many things he says or does, we have been fortunate and should not take that likely. As an organization, the Steelers are pretty stable and consistent, even though we ***** about it otherwise. You are not going to nail drafts every year and you are not going to win the SB every year.
The Patriots, as much as they are loved and cherish about being a model for the NFL, they haven't done much since Spygate. They have no rings since, but are good every season and play in a suspect division. We are young and building a foundation. It's not a finished model, but it's getting there. If we can accept that and just enjoy the process and growing pains, we would be a happier fanbase.

Of course you fail to mention Tomlin has had a franchise QB for his entire tenure and has wasted Ben's prime by missing the playoffs 43 % of the time and counting, hasn't won a playoff game in 4 years so the bullshit we are in contention every year is nothing but blind pom pom waving on your part, not surprising given your lack of football acumen. I see you can't address his failings as an in game coach, poor clock management, awful gameplanning, his horrible record constantly losing yo bottom feeders, his inability to make in game adjustments, etc. 8 years on the job is an eternity in the NFL and he is still making the same dumb mistakes. We are a great franchise being driven into the ground by this moron but since we have a franchise QB and a HOF DC the fall has been cushioned but the cliff is coming and only incompetent pom pom wavers like yourself can't see it.

me? I can't see it? Of course, he and the team has it's downfalls, but don't every team? I'm still gonna give him criticism when he screws up, but he's not going anywhere. Not for awhile. Should we just stop watching until he quits or gets fired? It is what it is and I hope they can improve and surprise everyone. I know his clock mgmt. is pretty bad and his record against bad teams is not good. Don't you think Cowher and Noll ever lost to any bottomfeeders? It happens and it's not like Tomlin has had great teams in the past 2 or 3 years. Sometimes, they played over their head or below their potential. When they win, it's a team win, when they lose, it's all on the HC. There's no compromise. All in all, Tomlin is doing a good job with what he has to work with. I don't know if he has earned to coach another 8 years, but he is the HC right now. Until it's time for him to move on, I trust the Rooneys and Colbert will know it's time, as well, Until then, relax and enjoy the games.

Tomlin is doing a good job with what he has to work with.

This is my main issue. Do you think back to back 8-8 seasons is a good job with a franchise QB, HOF DC, and a very weak schedule? Did he really do the best with what he had against the Raiders? How about the Vikings? That's the best with what he had? Also he is responsible for "what he has to work with". He has been jubilant over his drafts. So if there is nothing wrong with the coach and nothing wrong with the draft picks then WTF is the problem?

What football background do you have Franco. I have plenty, having played the game in High School, College and Semi-Pro and having coached Youth, Jr. High, High School and Semi-Pro football. What is your background in the game.

All you do is look at negatives, it is what fuels you. You seem to feed on hate and self loathing. Those feeling are going to eat you alive from the inside my friend and put you in an early grave. Lighten up enjoy life. You might want to step away from watching football it is not doing you any favors. When even Hollywood Bags is calling you out you have jumped the shark on anger issue and name calling.

I will pray that you find some peace because you seem to need it.

I posted this in another thread. Tomlin said the D was in position most of the time but was looking to the sidelines when the Browns snapped the ball. They weren't ready for the play to start. He said it was "communication issues". Not sure who you blame that on. I believe Timmons is calling the plays on the field this year. Hopefully, the "communication issues" are easily rectified.

After watching Larry Foote on Monday Timmons needs to take it up a notch. Foote looked like he was 24 not 34 making 8 solo tackles and shooting the gap and stuffing the run twice for a loss.

I don't buy that Tomlin isn't a good coach. Is he "great"? That's still yet to be written, but any coach that has gotten the results like he has should be given *some* wriggle room. His division record since his first year at the helm is 29-13, which w/o that, you aren't making the playoffs. You can't blame it on the North being crappy either, because in that time frame (7 years) the Bengals have 4 seasons above .500, and the Ravens have 5. The Ravens are 25-17 in that span, the Bengals are 20-22 and of course, Browns are lousy 11-31, which illustrates even more that you cannot win **** w/o winning in your division. Another 8-8 or worse, there will be cause for concern, but 7 years in and 2 SB appearances, I think most of "us" would take that. He's also 23-19 in the AFC outside of the division. While not tremendous, it's still 52-32, (plus 5-3 in the playoffs) in the AFC and that's what you need to do. They went 8-4 after the worst start in my lifetime, which to me, says the team/coaching came through.

Good job as in having one of the oldest defenses, many rookies in key positions, then yes. Of course, you can turn it around and you are justified in saying that he has some tools to work with and have been mediocre.
"What he has to work with" is injuries, rookies, younger players, older players, free agents, etc. He may have had his hand in the majority of the draft picks, but all of them? I wouldn't be too quick to give him all the blame or praise. There are scouts, position coaches and Colbert that gives their opinions, too. Is Tomlin totally running the show then?
Also, I didn't say there is nothing wrong with the coach, he has his flaws. I've stated that. Two 8-8 seasons is not pretty, but Ben and Tomlin have yet to have a losing season. That says something. I actually don't see them doing much better this season, as there are still a lot of question marks and younger guys learning on the fly. This team has been a work in progress for a few years now. The body of work is not complete or near complete. Wait until Troy and Ike is released or retires. The fun will really be flying trying to secure the backend.

I don't think he has had an old defense. Warren Sapp said something like that a few years ago, and Steeler Nation howled in protest and outrage.

Clock management looked pretty damn good last game. We scored last in both halves with no time on the clock. Perhaps he's improving? It is possible for someone to get better at their job with more experience...

Nothing in your posts shows a semblance of football knowledge so spare us your crappy resume. The Steelers under Tomlin are underachieving, sloppy, undisciplined, fat and stupid, reflecting their coach. When things change, and they won't under Tomlin, I will be fine and dandy. Your dime store psychology is stupider than even your lack of insight football posts. Now back to your pom poms.

The defense wasn't old. That was just Sapp's ignorant opinion. Also every body on here disagreed with that. They called Sapp an overweight ********. You can't have it both ways. Also ALL teams have injuries, old players, young players, rookies and FAs. EVERY team. So that's a cop out. What looks bad is that Tomlin has had a HOF DC, a roster full of SB rings, and a franchise QB for most of his time here. He hasn't replaced anybody with a better player in 7 years except maybe Brown at WR. Every part of this team is much worse than when he took over.

When is it going to be complete? He hasn't won a playoff game in 4 years. I don't care if they haven't had a losing season. Almost no coaches have losing seasons with franchise QBs. Tomlin has never had to replace a franchise QB either. He's had it pretty good for a 1st time HC.

And where exactly have you ever shown even a single shred of knowledge about anything? I have tried to talk reasonably with you, I have for the most part refrained from joining your infantile name calling and 5 year old temper tantrums but you never respond in any type of mature fashion. I would love to have a civil debate on the merits of your opinion but you do not debate. You are incapable of even a modicum of reasonability. You have never given anyone a single reason to respect your opinion.

Now back on topic.

I have seen growth by Tomlin. His clock Management has improved. His in game adjustments need work but I think right now that has to do with having the right signal caller on defense. Currently we do not have a person in place like Farrior to be the on field leader of the defense and get everyone set. I Like Timmons athletic ability but do not think he can or will ever be the "Quarterback" of the defense. My hope is that Shazier can grow into that role in the future but being a rookie he is not ready. I think that is why we are having issues with the spread and anything outside the norm. Later in the season I think you will se a vast improvement in the defenses ability make adjustments. In the meantime Ben better keep the foot on the gas the whole game. This is a Lebeau issue as much as a Tomlin issue.
This will be part of the growing pains.

you are correct in everything you say, Vader. Can we agree he did a good job getting them into playoff position last year after a miserable start? They were a KC win away from going to the PO. We shouldn't of had to rely on KC to win, but we were a kick away from the post-season.
Would you rather have Coughlin, who apparently has the Giants in a free fall? He's a damn fine coach that has SB rings. His cheese is about to fall off his cracker. The Giants are a joke right now. Comparing that mess to Tomlin and the Steelers, we are not that bad off. I'd like to think we are on our way up. You make a lot of good criticisms about the team and MT, and they are justified. Will it get better? I'm optimistic it will.

LNMFAO at your passive aggressive attempt to be superior to anybody. You have never shown a spec of football intelligence despite your attempt to portray yourself as a college football player and a semi pro, LMFAO. As for your po psychology, I don't live and die with the Steelers , in fact, unless it is raining outside I am on my boat on lake Keowee,

As for Tomlin he is not improving at clock management and we played like **** Sunday unless you want to give Tomlin credit for the incredible athleticism that Ben showed by evading the piss poor blocking and getting outside the pocket to throw an incredible 45 yard pass across his body to Brown for the TD or Bell's incredibly athletic TD run where he avoided all types o defenders on a poorly blocked play to score the 38 yard TD.

Tomlin is a poor coach who has had time to grow into the job he never earned but instead has stayed the same or declined.,His drafting sucks as he does not understand that speed is not way to win in the NFL if you can't win in the trenches. He misses the playoffs 43% of the time and counting with a franchise QB in his prime, one can only imagne what we would do with a good coach who knows X and Os instead of the players coach who is befuddled and inept on the sidelines.

Ayone , ignore list for you, I hate reading your terrible illogical and poorly thought out drivel.

Ignore me all you want it makes you no less ignorant and juvenile. Besides I am not the one calling names I have remained civil. Good Riddance to you! I will take that as a badge of honor! If you want a lesson in how to have a debate on your feelings read Vader he can at least complete a thought and see both sides to some degree!

They did a good job getting to 8-8 last year. I agree with that. Like most Steelers fans I don't keep up with other teams enough to give an educated opinion on them and their coaches. I don't know Coughlin's responsibilities or his issues. I know he's won 2 SBs since the Steelers last won one. He also beat an undefeated pats* team and a 13-3 pats* team to win those. Outside of that I don't know much about the Giants.

My issue with Tomlin is can he put together a contender and win with it. Not squeak out another 8-8 or 9-7 season. Ben should win 9 games by himself against the easy schedule they have this year. I want to see a team that can compete with Denver, the pats*, Indy etc... I couldn't care less about beating the clowns, jax and Tampa Bay. Will they get better? I have no idea. It depends on their drafts from the past 2-3 years.

You are pathetic little boy, keep trying to get the last word in, not enough you lie about your playing "career"

Franco how does it feel being a short timer?

As in you are hanging by a thread and I know you aren't the type to stop the bleeding before it's too late.

yep
