Steelers trade for Justin Fields

Jackson doesn't run much anymore and when he does it isn't the way he used to run. Fields can do almost everything Jackson can but doesn't have the experience yet. Let's get him up to speed.

PS Boohoo they busted up the QB room

I know they will have a window. I just don't think Wilson will take a low ball offer. Probably his last contract. And if he and the team have a good year together he will be looking for some $$$$. I am only speculating though.
I was also thinking of his age factoring in and if he proves to be a good fit? Perhaps not a low ball but a intermediate offer. And of course I am adding to the speculation.

I'll play. It took Kenny 5 years to get on the national radar in college.

Using your logic - 2 years still wouldn't be enough time for Kenny to 'look good'...
Oh. Ok. You are speculating though I assume. You really don't know what he would have done here the next 2 to 3 years correct? He was told to play conservative. He did. He looked bad doing so.

I get you are excited in the direction we are going. A 35 yo QB. A run first offense. We now "speculatively" trying to bring in a top WR. Everyone is all exited. SB contenders some are saying. Only so many balls to go around. Pickens probably won't be happy if he isn't getting his. I am sure "specifically speaking" he will be the next guy shipped out.

Gotta love how Tomlin's "volunteers not hostages" coaching style is going.....speculatively speaking of course.

Is Wilson better than Pickett. Sure. Are we any better with him than Pickett? Sure. Is the difference that great that we will go deep into the playoffs? Doubtful

*all of the above is simply speculation. Not factual.

Did anyone else have to read this 14 times before it made sense???

Playing conservatively doesn't mean that you have to limit yourself to 0.5 TDs per game. That's pathetic. I'm excited moving ahead because this team may score more than 16 PPG. Why are you worried about Pickens not getting the ball when he's the only NFL-caliber WR on this roster? Honestly, if another receiver steals from his production this offense will be in amazing shape.

i'll admit that i dont think KP got a fair shake after Canada was goosed. He got one game, then got hurt. Could he have been better going forward? Sure, but that's now a Philly problem. I can't imagine Hurts appreciates KP in the QB room, considering KP was a 1st round pick and the Eagles gave up a 3rd to get him. Though salary-wise, Hurts is the QB1 for quite awhile and he knows this.

as for Russ... eh. Consider that Denver is paying a ton to NOT have him on the roster. whats that all about?

Fields - i hope he lights it up. He shouldnt have any of the same pressure on his shoulders as he did in Chicago and has a really forgiving coach. He's literally playing now for the rest of his career. He'll sink or swim at this point. Start or be Tyler Huntley going forward.

Says Tomlin is excited for Justin Fields to learn from Russel wilson.
Was he excited for Rudolph to learn from Ben Roerhlidberger,?

Sounds like KFP 2.0. Sigh.

You ever see that clip of DAN ORLOVSKY as the quarterback for the Detroit Lions running out of the back of the end zone LOOKING FOR A RECEIVER and still thinking the play is going on? And yeah, he’s going to sit here and critique Justin fields for not seeing the field.

I could have posted several other youtube videos but decided to just do that one. You'll be ok. Go for a walk and kick some rocks.

the offense at Ohio State was simple. Fields first year was Ryan Day's first year and the offense was mostly Urban Meyer's. Day started to modify when he had Stroud who was a better pocket passer, but the offense Field ran was very simple.

Then he gets to the Bears and they have no weapons and he had 2 different OCs in 3 years. His last OC Getsy was about 1 step up from Canada. Still Fields did show improvement.

Here's a lengthy breakdown of Fields week 17 game vs Atlanta. It was a bad weather game but Field was mostly very good. Arthur Smith saw this up close and personal. You can see how dangerous Fields can be. He's still a work in progress but he has improved despite the Bears being dysfunctional for most of Fields time there.
