The Steelers gutted the entire QB room mostly because the entire QB room wasn't very good, and they came to realize that KP was a p*ssy on top of it. Everybody from that shltty room is going to be a backup in 2024 -- right where they belong. And you don't know what the position will be next year; Wilson has stated that he'd like to be a Steeler long-term, and Fields wanted to be traded to Pittsburgh. I'd say it's more than likely that at least one of them stays. We gutted our entire QB room and bring in two guys on one year contracts......just so we will possibly be in the same position again next off season. We won't get rid of a HC who hasn't done jack **** for 10 plus years in the name of franchise stability but we gut our entire qb room from last year ....because our 2nd year 1st round draft pick got upset from the Wilson signing.
You can't see how anyone can say that the Steelers are better? Are you blind? If all this clearly made us better I might be on board with it all...perhaps. I can't see how anyone can say we are. We probably at best do what we have the last few years. Winning record. Possible playoff berth. One and done ...with an embarrassing playoff loss......again.

Wilson is the best QB they've had since Ben, Fields is now among the best backup QBs in the league, and they were added at bargain prices. Patrick Queen is the best inside linebacker they've had since Shazier, and he signed for less than expected. They've added good depth in the secondary. They've cut out a shlt-ton of deadwood. They've traded a couple of malcontents. They've upgraded the OC position exponentially. Kahn's likely going to put together another good draft. And, probably most importantly, they haven't extended Tomlin yet -- even though it was supposed to happen months ago.
What the f**k is not to like? Jesus.
I think Fields is QB they liked when he first came out.The Steelers are taking a big chance with Fields. I have not seen the compensation yet. What I'm wondering is what do the Steelers do if Rus has an amazing year and wants to sign a four year contract at a reasonable rate going forward? They then have to pay Fields the fifth year option at 25 million as a backup next year. I wonder how Fields is going to feel about being a backup. I guess competition is a good thing, but Rus isn't coming to play backup. At least we have significantly upgraded the QB room. Now, will they have anyone decent to throw to or hike the ball?
I would highly recommend the Super PlusAlthough I'm not an expert, I'm guessing they don't make a big enough tampon for some of the posters on here.
I don’t think the Steelers had given up on Pickett but they had more reservations about him than they did a year ago. If the 2022 draft was held again today, I don’t think any team is taking him anywhere near the first round.Possibly. They had 2 more years in a new system to find out. And word is....they didn't get rid of him because they didn't think he wasn't the guy or lack of talent....they moved him because he refused to dress as the 3rd qb and getting upset about the Wilson signing. As far as we know they believed in his talent and still do. Unless they are lying about everything they have been saying and letting slip out to the media of late. Either way......the FO/organization and HC most likely has lied to Pickett and the media...and throw in us fand also.
You do not know this factually. Pure speculation...Fields will never see the field. Then his option year is $25 mill. Next season both will be gone.
It's practically all we do!You do not know this factually. Pure speculation...
I'm not typically a rah-rah guy when it comes to offseason moves, mainly because the Steelers usually stood mostly pat under Colbert. Making small-time free agent acquisitions and hanging on to players who were plainly not helping the team. That shlt has clearly changed here lately.Preach on brother topseed!
None of that matters. If Wilson plays great re sign him and field could walk. If field plays well, sign him. Fields could also realize Wilson is older and Pitt is where he could win as future QB1 some day. We are spending virtually nothing this year for our QBs. I see no downside unless a person was hoping for a draft day move up to get the future QB1. I dont hink that was going to happen because of too many other holes to fill on this team. I like the approach. This team is already better at OC, QB, ILB, and with a good draft fill other needs. What would be his incentive to not sit behind Wilson this year and see what the market does next. He has the Steelers over a barrel. How much would you pay him to see wtf he is. Just like you should have seen what Kenny Pickett was but he was free this year.
Well of course. Again the odds are though we won't. Speculatively speaking that is.You do not know this factually. Pure speculation...
I would put my money on Russ having a contract offered and Fields not offered due to the price tag...Well of course. Again the odds are though we won't. Speculatively speaking that is.
What type of contract do you think Wilson will be offered with him being a FA and all?I would put my money on Russ having a contract offered and Fields not offered due to the price tag...
They will have a window before free agency to offer him something. I have no idea on the price... as I would think his performance on the field would help set up the parameters of what they are willing to offer...What type of contract do you think Wilson will be offered with him being a FA and all?
I know they will have a window. I just don't think Wilson will take a low ball offer. Probably his last contract. And if he and the team have a good year together he will be looking for some $$$$. I am only speculating though. They will have a window before free agency to offer him something. Not being a smart ***, but when was the last time a “starter level” QB was traded during the season? Because they can’t trade them after the season.Something to remember and keep in your big lopsided craniums.. ...
I believe we can use both of these gents as trade bait next season...
Maybe replenish some picks we lose to trade up to get our next contestant for franchise QB...
Come on down!!....Sucker!
Only if the Steelers sign them beyond 2024.Something to remember and keep in your big lopsided craniums.. ...

I'll play. It took Kenny 5 years to get on the national radar in college.Pickett just as much could have turned on in your hypothetical scenerio. Or not. Difference is we used a number 1 on him and had 2 years left on his contract.
All that said I am not a Pickett fan. I just would have rather gone with Pickett than Wilsin or Fields. I would rather have gone with Mason to be honest.
I would have just liked to see what Pickett could/couldn't have done in these next 2 years than the past 2.
I saw a clip this morning starting that Fields out rushed Lamar by 200+ yards over the last 20 games.Fields can run, but he isnt Lamar Jackson level... he actually made his bones as a pocket passer more than a runner in college.. ... and its pocket passing he needs to improve on if he wants to be an NFL starter for much longer...
This is exactly why i really figured they wouldnt trade for Fields... he was in the season you had to make a decision about his expensive 5th year option...If KP would have been willing to “sack up” and taken the “reset” opportunity he was given, I would rather have kept him instead of trading for Fields. Not because I think KP is a better QB at this point, but because you had 2 more years left on his contract, vs both QB’s being on a one year deal. I said it before, IF Fields signs an extension for B/U money with incentives, then I am onboard with the trade. I don’t think Wilson will be worth the money it will take to keep him at 37, if he plays well enough to consider keeping him.
they arent physically though. Remember Lamar just spent the past couple years trying to prove he is a pocket passer... while Fields was just trying to do anything to establish himself...I saw a clip this morning starting that Fields out rushed Lamar by 200+ yards over the last 20 games.
I do think the nearly the same player statistically...

If fields has a future as a qb, its as a passer.. so he best get that part figured out
Hell the Ravens should have traded for Pickett as a late game closer... Lamars win percentages would go way up if he didnt have to play those late minutes lol, and pickett wasnt great outside of the 4th...
