Steelers vs Atalnta Post game Thread

Loved the play call at the end of the game, well done Mikey T. I think we stuck with the run a little to much, it wouldn't have been an issue if Atlanta's offense didn't get on a roll, I thought we should've opened the O up some more, but we won and that's all that matters.

The worilds hit was text book, and even at live speed it looked clean. He didn't go high or low, he didin't lead with the crown of his helmet. Crap call.

I don't recall any show boating either. Positive moves

AB had a small one on a first down. Not nearly as bad, teamwise, as earlier in the year.

They need to do like college and review all those bullshit roughing calls. It's one thing to **** it up, it's another entirely not to fix it. Instead of them probably punting after a third and forever they scored a TD. Yes, the Steelers defense needs to stop them, but that one call changed a game from pretty much a wrap to a new ball game. It was a damn joke.

Why just that call? What about the offensive PI call that should have gone against Bryant? That probably takes them out of FG range. What about the blatant block in the back on Bell's long pass play? That either lead to a FG or TD I don't remember.

Those roughing calls in the last couple years are the focus of the officials and it's completely changing the way defenses can play. The game is already slanted toward the offense, penalizing defensive players for textbook tackles is completely different than the calls officials have blown for the entire existence of the league. No different than the holding they can call on almost every play.

I am not a fan who believes the league and officials are out to get the Steelers. I thought the roughing they called against the rats in our first game when Ben got hit clean was a joke too. They are overprotecting one player out of twenty two that are on the field. It's bullshit.

1. I was pleasantly surprised that they won. Away game against a losing team, I thought we were ****** for sure.
2. The Defense showed up and played relatively well.

Stop being a fan boy

There are things to ***** about and the game wasn't perfect, but they got the win.

I was pretty fired up about this game, which I haven't been in a while. I'm getting emotionally invested in the team right now and it's fun.

Hopefully they keep finding ways to win and turn this into an interesting post-season. That would be a welcome change after the last couple of seasons.

It was not that bad of a call, given the current emphasis, as it looked like helmet to helmet at live speed, which is the only perspective the officials have.

They're told to side on caution and throw the flag if there is any doubt about whether helmet-to-helmet occurred. I'm open to the idea of making it a reviewable play, but doubt the league would go for it.

I'm not thrilled about the "kinder, gentler"'game either, but the politics surrounding concussions are slowly killing the foundation of the sport, as more and more parents are refusing to let their kids play the game due to all he hoopla surrounding the 10-15% of retired players suffering cognitive and/or psyhological issues.
Worilds' face mask was in Ryan's chest. Any attempt to call the tackle anything but a clean hit is horse ****. Instead of a sack for a loss it gave the Falcs +15 and a 1st Down. The ensuing Atlanta TD should have never happened. FAK them refs their dumb ***** can cost games.

I'm just glad we picked up the W. I also think KC is a good matchup for us. We get beat early and often by wideouts and they just don't have a lot of talent at the position. And we can score on any defense in this league so I am feeling good about our chances next week too.

Must have been a tough game for you to watch-like all Steeler wins.

Go **** yourself. I don't like bitching about calls when it cuts both ways. But your lack of football intellect and overall lack of knowledge is duly noted.

Ticky tack calls are one thing. Blatant mistakes like that are another. And it is becoming accepted as "well, shucks, ok". It's NOT ok. Crap like that will destroy this sport from within.

The problem with the qb calls are they have been going on and on about protecting the qb's and they are obviously going over board to the point where they are calling perfectly clean hits as illegal. The off PI's, blocks in the back, the missed face mask on bells long catch and run are penalties that can be called every down.

Maybe some of the older members hear remember, but I was born in 1978, I could've sworn in the late 80's early 90's that PI's calls could be reviewed, am I wrong?

The defense knows that. Worilds left his feet and launched himself. Yea, it was probably the wrong call but again, if this exact same thing happened to the Steelers (like the rats game) it brushed aside and other "offenses" during the game are pointed out. Seriously take away that call. That's 7 points. But Bryant's blatant OPI call and the block in the back on Bell's long pass play more than make up for 7 points. You wouldn't think those were ticky tack IF they went the other way. They become ticky tack when they go in your favor. That's either a 10 point swing or a 6... I don't remember if Bell's catch lead to a FG or TE.

The roughing the call against Upshaw was because he used the crown of his helmet as a point of contact, Worilds head was up.

I don't remember them ever reviewing them.

OK, like I said I was onlylay ten or eleven, maybe I'm remember the "you make the call" clips during games then.

That is JUST when they let you down.
