Steelers vs Atalnta Post game Thread

Go **** yourself. I don't like bitching about calls when it cuts both ways. But your lack of football intellect and overall lack of knowledge is duly noted.

This did NOT cut both ******* ways. this was a clean, facemask up, non ******* penalty. The whole "oh my, that should have been offensive PI" In the endzone was bullshit, since it happened just about the same time the ball was hitting his hand, hence contact when fighting for the ball is, and always has been legal. I'm not sure why you seem to be so ******* thrilled when the refs *** **** the Steelers, but I for one like to see the ******* game called correctly. If you prefer the WWE, go watch it.

Joe

The defense knows that. Worilds left his feet and launched himself. Yea, it was probably the wrong call but again, if this exact same thing happened to the Steelers (like the rats game) it brushed aside and other "offenses" during the game are pointed out. Seriously take away that call. That's 7 points. But Bryant's blatant OPI call and the block in the back on Bell's long pass play more than make up for 7 points. You wouldn't think those were ticky tack IF they went the other way. They become ticky tack when they go in your favor. That's either a 10 point swing or a 6... I don't remember if Bell's catch lead to a FG or TE.

The rats game was launching with THE CROWN OF THE HELMET, you dumb ****.

And just to clarify, if they stopped calling that ******* penalty across the whole NFL I wouldn't gripe one ******* bit.

Oh bullshit. Bryant had his hand on the defenders should pushing himself up. It was blatant OPI. Strange that all you "defense can't even touch a WR anymore" people are ok with the WR pushing the DB down.. oh unless it happens to the Steelers then all the bitching comes out. Just like the PI in the SB with the Seachickens. IF that doesn't get called Steeler nation would have had a cow and rightfully so. You guys trying to say one is worse than the others are just pissed that it happened to the Steelers. Just look at the reaction after the rats game where Ben was given a gift roughing penalty. A few people say "well it shouldn't have been called but I'll take it". You seem to be ok when other teams get assfucked. I don't like it. But you're probably a homer and don't really care about the game as long as the Steelers win right?

It WAS a bad call...the ref had a better view than anybody and Worilds hit Ryan squarely in the chest with his facemask. Exactly how you would teach it.
Throwing a flag just to be throwing it will kill the game, slowly but surely. Or, worse yet, it will kill the QB's knees when the defensive players start going there instead.

Again, your view of it is only validated by the benefit of instant replay.

Watching that at full speed, with the way Worilds launched himself and the way Ryan's head snapped back, you're a liar if you claim you knew that hit was legal, with 100% certainty, before seeing the replay.

It's easy to criticize NFL officials. Hell, I get caught up in it myself, but I think people grossly under appreciate how fast the NFL game is, especially relative to all these player safety mandates the officials have imposed on them,

People like to proclaim how the college officials are so much better, but the difference between the levels is night and day. We got to see those "great" officials at the NFL level two years ago, and it was a disaster.

You stupid piece of **** here is the video:

Doesn't look much different than Worilds hit. Facemask to chest.

Several of us here complained about the Upshaw hit being called, too, IIRC. I rarely post during the game thread, but I'm sure it was there.

I would counter with the non-call on a block in the back on Troy during a screen and the punch to Jarvis' face being not called.

I think the non-call on Timmons was the make up call for the Worilds hit. That hit by Timmons when Ryan was going to the ground is almost always called.

both were ****** penalties...neither should have been called.....

I really wouldn't have been surprised by that one, or even had a complaint.

I didn't think that should have been a flag either. It's tackle football. Or at least it was.

It probably shouldn't be but again that's what is being called these days. It isn't a horrible injustice to mankind the way it is being portrayed by some on here. The Steelers have benefited from it as well. I'm tired of everything being in favor of the offense. Which is why I get pissed at OPI not being called. I hate ******* pick plays that NE runs. I want the defense to have a fair chance.

that was a clean hit

NFL simply wants a flag football team

that is one rule that needs adjusting if that wasn't considered a clean hit

The hit on Roethlisberger was clean too. Very clean.

I remember watching that and saying that's a bullshit call. The fact jerk off Phil Simms and Jim Nance try to defend the call and come up with bullshit "obvious, easy call" complete B.S. is even more hard to swallow.

Everyone just sucks off the refs for fear they will piss off the golden goose. Even Periera does it. Excuses, excuses for blatant bad call. "Game is so fast". "Judgement call". No one wants to say what is simple to say: They got it wrong. Hope it doesn't effect the outcome of the game too much and let's move on to the next play.

Why can't an announcer say that?

It is really hard to say that when Rogers balls are slapping repeatedly against your chin.

Screengrab right before impact. See the birdie on number 90's helmet? See where his facemask is? Now look at the birdie on the side of our sackers helmet, feel free to go watch the video, where you can see that bird's ******* beak go down right before impact like he's trying to get some seed off the turf. Crown of helmet into chest.

And, as I CLEARLY stated, I'd be just fine if they eliminated BOTH of these as penalties, hell, if you don't kill the qb, it should be legal.

Joe

I cannot believe it was SIMMS of all people who called the Ushaw hit (correctly). He lowered his head at the moment before impact which IS what makes it a foul.

In Worilds' case, he obviously didn't lower to make contact with the crown BUT the replays aren't as good and it could have been '
"perceived" that the crown slid up to make contact w the chin (also a foul).

Either way, we now have to live with the new NFL and the designs to take the 'contact' out of a contact sport. Smashmouth football is a thing of the past. I remember some plays in the defensive backfield from the 70's which were straight up crimes that were not routinely called anything but football plays. Not anymore fellas.

OK, so who is the Fuckface who pissed in Vader's eggnog?

Leagal HIT, with a penalty flag. Has happened before, both for and against us. Will happen again and again. League isn't going to change. Worilds got excitred and went for the "CRUSH". Can't blaim him as how often does one get that kind of sitting duck opertunity? If he'd stayed calm, he would've been the 6" lower that he nedded to be.

Salute the nation

Pure and simple, the NFL wants to eliminate more head injury lawsuits down the road. That's all it's about.
Karma sent.

All a guy has to do in the split second before he hits a QB is fairly simple... determine if he has passed the ball or not and if so pull up, if not make sure his helmet isn't close enough to impact the Qbs head, especially if the QB ducks, and make sure he also doesn't hit him too low... oh yeah when he hits him he cannot drive him into the ground or land with his full weight on him.... Its easy... also I am pretty sure asking him politely to lay down and be sacked is still legal...

Maybe defenders should pull out a protractor and compass to determine the level at which their helmet is angled. And maybe a laser line level to make sure that no matter what the QB does (like duck at the last second) that their helmets never ever touch each other.

... just bubble wrap their brains and voila... everything is good again
