Pure and simple, the NFL wants to eliminate more head injury lawsuits down the road. That's all it's about.

Throwing late hits on the QB isn't going to help that.

The lawsuits are coming no matter what. They should make them all sign wavers and tell them it's WORSE than it really is. Then what can they sue about?

Definitely, you don't see this **** in MMA and boxing.

On a separate note, has anyone seen a flag thrown for a RB leading with his helmet? I don't recall seeing anyone flagged since the rule was passed.

The roughing call was terrible. Had good seats (photos on the way when I get home), good view of hit. Right to middle of chest, head up. The momentum swing was unbelievable. Massive Black & Gold presence at game. The roughing call just took the momentum away from the Steelers.

I did not get to see the Worilds hit so I can not offer opinion on that. The upshaw hit was clearly leading with the crown of the helmet and was actually what was deemed to be illegal. The first drop of the head was a couple of yards away when he was close enough to see the QBs with his head down. I have seen it go both ways though. The big issue I have with the zebras is the horrible inconsistency. The guys on the bungles browns game were the most flag happy crew in the nfl according to the talking heads. I suspect that the zebras should be fairly close to each other with so much parity in the league, but all of us have seen games where we want penalties called and they are not as well as the inverse. I would not mind replay being brought into play on penalties so they could be enforced better. It likely could be done with out impacting the game as the time spent in the both could play commercials that were scheduled at other times, they already have stoppages for commercials.
