How long should rolling thru your progressions take?

3 seconds or less is generally the standard because that's as long as you can expect your OL to protect. A good QB should be able to get to read 3 by 3 seconds.. Fields just takes too long and he often does not throw to a guy who is open in a window.

There are plays where QBs hold the ball longer but if you have to hold it on nearly every play, it makes it tough.
