Steelers VS the rats game thread #ActionButNoJackson

We find out later that Keith Butler was just a figurehead as defensive coordinator. I’m starting to wonder if Tomlin still has his fingers all in that scheming and play-calling.

If he does, he really ******* sucks at it.

Well I don't know who calls it but if you dont blitz every gap in that situation and allow them to run power....... you really don't know what the **** you are doing.

Exactly. That's all the rats had was the run. You commit to shutting that down and they would have been lucky to get a few fieldgoals.

All I can do is laugh at it now. It's not changing. They never change anything in season. They're either lazy or arrogant. Which they have no reason to be arrogant because they ******* suck at coaching and developing a championship level team.

I'm glad I have hockey to watch. At least the Pens somewhat have their **** together in more games than not.

Shades has had 16 years to build a championship team and proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that he can't do it.

Has he, built that championship team……….. No “HOT” Seat = complacency.

ONLY coach in their NFL who has no worries about tomorrow.

The basic tenement of Tomlins defense is to keep the ball in front of you and not allow the deep shot. You can see when they lose and have given up deep hits. It's all he ****** talks about. So he gets the game dictated to his defense which is exact opposite Lebeau. Lebeau had defense dictate what was going to happen.

Like a red headed step child. This defense used to go batshit when anyone busted a 5-7 yard run on them. I forget the string of how many games they went without allowing a 100 yard rusher. It was a lot. Now it's no big deal getting tapped out.

Those where the Cowher “players” and mostly at a run oriented time as well. When has Coach Tomlin’s defense NOT been soft in the middle and against the run ? About the time Dicfk Lebaue (sp) left, this “D” turned soft.

I'm convinced the bigger deal with the Cowher/ Tomlin transition success was the leftover coaches. Tomlin has plenty of good to great players. They have spent way more on player retention and bringing in FA. But he just does not get quality position and Coordinating coaches. They are terrible. Not one has moved onto anything of note. Not one ****** guy in a decade. No one ever wants them because they aren't good.
Can you imagine Lebeau with full control with the amount they have invested in defense?

Only The Bruce but that was a total surprise to everyone. He was originally hired by Cowher and promoted to OC by Shades. If the Colts' HC doesn't get cancer and have to take a year off he probably doesn't get a chance.

I really don't view that as any gold star for Tomlin. He had Ben play playground football and it worked. He would have gotten him killed if he would have stuck around. Then like you say he gets an interim. Then he gets the Bucs. They win with Brady and Brady has him railroaded out. But I do agree. He is the one forward move coach from the Tomlin tree in his entire 16 year reign. Which is pretty much unbelievable.

I didn’t see a penalty there. It was a hard tackle but maybe after escaping the first guy the refs considered him a runner. Still, I don’t see a penalty.
The defender could have just gone to the ground with Pickett. Instead, he flung him into the ground. Clear penalty.

If we're being honest with ourselves as Steeler fans, this team's issue isn't talent, it's coaching. Not just the coordinator positions either. How many times did the secondary blow coverages? How can a Ray Guy award winning punter be so inconsistent? Why are our inside linebackers so out of position or fail to shed blocks? Why is Mitch Tribisky staring down his WR/TEs? Hell, I've coached Pee Wee football QB's to read the Safeties and look them off the Primary route. Just embarrassing.

This coaching staff needs to be gutted and if I'm in the front office, I'm beginning to list names and narrow down the list for replacing Mike Tomlin when his contract ends. The NFL has passed him by, and his meddling fingers can't stay off the Offensive and Defensive schemes and tactics.

FULLY agree SteelerSask2 !!!

The good coaches that he has had, quit or left with out contract renewal. Munch left for family reasons but when he became available,………… no attempt to re-hire or MUNCH said NO through the grapevine.

I thought I’d read an article about coaches not wanting to come here, I’m talking high end coaching.

It's the Steeler way! Plus, look at the optics of it from the outside. MT has ONE losing season and he gets the ax? ooohhh would Art Deuce take some cancel culture heat from the woke *** talking heads.

You and I and 1/2 the world KNOW he isn’t going anywhere.

This whole coaching staff from top on down, including strength / PR / Bishop all need to be replace, let go, axed in a fired way, waved and pushed out the door, social media canned, letter and telegram to not come in, or just plainly FIRED.
