Steelers VS the rats game thread #ActionButNoJackson

The point was that “the lack of first team reps” was one of the litany of excuses used for Kenny Pickett when he threw three picks against the Jets.

Look, I’m not in one camp or the other, and I hope Kenny pans out. It’s just that the excuse factory for Kenny Pickett gets ridiculous at times. I enjoy pointing it out.
I hear ya but he had no INT's in the last three consecutive games. I gotta think we win if he doesn't get knocked out of the game.

Score a FG? Real comfy. Plenty of time to get into position to score one.

Far as those points left on the field that is the number 1 reason for the loss. Mitch was an experiment, simply a failed one.

Very curious why Worm and Alualu saw the field as much as they did being poor run stuffers.

This team for me just continues not to put their players in the best position to succeed. What is up with the rookie and Loudermilk they they were so high on?

It is constant bad decisions on and off the field nobody can convince me of anything different.
It’s mind boggling Slash. We knew they would try and run the ball down our throats. Why not put our young guys in to see what they have against real competition. I would have loved to see Leal or Loudermilk show us what they have.
It doesn’t mean we are giving up. We all new this would be a transition year. Give them some experience. And just maybe we will have something. That way we also know more what we need come draft time.

The decision making on and off the field is just head scratching for me. And has been for many many years. Not just the last 3 or 4. No spark. It’s just all so stale.

I don’t disagree on playing the young guys, I do disagree on being able to score after we failed to do so 4 times. Evidence today is against that. What makes you think we could have? What makes you think he doesn’t heave up a prayer for his 4th INT? Coaching should have called for runs when we got close after the first and for sure after the second INT. A FG would have been huge.
Well he did manage 2 TDs. So I think it is reasonable to think there was a FG possiblity. But yes an equal possiblity that he throws another pick. Now we know definitely why his passes tend to be short to the left and right of play. His field vision sucks monkey ***.

Shades has had 16 years to build a championship team and proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that he can't do it.

That is what I mean by on and off the field decision making. Just not good enough.

I can’t say that because it’s something we’ll never know. It’s hard to say just how differently the game plays out without injuries.

it is if mitch didnt get practice reps... But honestly its coaching every week. We got highest paid defense.. and we get abused
I'm sure Mitch got 2nd team reps just like every other backup QB does. Are you suggesting that he should have received more reps than his position on depth chart warrants? Mitch threw 2 boneheaded INTs. He admitted those were his fault during the post-game. Those are above the neck decisions that he made on the play of field. That's a Mitch issue.

You far and away. I will ask again, what happens if the offense gets 3 points in one of those 4 trips? 3 points!!! I am not sure you are smart enough to figure it out.
Again, the offense isn’t responsible for the blocked FG. What happens if they get the ball back because the defense was able to stop the Ravens knowing they would run the ball? We’ll never know because they couldn’t.

Like a red headed step child. This defense used to go batshit when anyone busted a 5-7 yard run on them. I forget the string of how many games they went without allowing a 100 yard rusher. It was a lot. Now it's no big deal getting tapped out.

Ron,I was for getting rid of Tomlin right after the Denver/Tebow game. Said it many times. I’ve got nothing against the guy personally,in fact I get a kick out of him. He reminds of our saying when we started 11-0. We were pure fools gold. I said at that time we had to be the worst 11-0 team in the history of the NFL. But hey....you can’t argue against 11-0. Then things got tough and the melt down began. When things get tough Tomlin’s coaching definitely melts down. Fools gold.
When oh when will he ever be held accountable.

I'm just going to point out that he asked a question about what happens if we score 3 points one of the 4 trips and you keep addressing only the blocked field goal. You're not addressing the other three trips.
Carry on with yinz argument

Agreed. We were 11-0 IMHO because most of our opponents were missing assorted starters every week with the 'Rona while the Steelers remained relatively healthy. When other teams got healthy we dropped four of our last five games and the Stains hung 40 on us in the playoff.

It can be individuals every week on some teams sure. But there is enough of a paper trail to know it is more than just bad play here and there on this one.

1 Alualu shouldn't be on the field.
2 Mitch started longer than he should have.
3. A lack of a number 1 WR and CB is bad talent evaluation.
4. Bush shouldn't be on the field heavy against run teams and Spillane heavy against pass teams.
5 Not firing Canada bites them in the *** weekly.
6 .Starting a rookie G at C was beyond idiotic.
7. Not getting a better rotational OLBer hurt the pass rush.
8 Moore not having any true competition was a fail.
9 Big Dot not having any true competition was a fail.
10. When they knew they could get Flores you give him the DC job over a proven failure.

That is just a quick 10, I am sure if I thought for awhile I could add to the list.

Enough bad decisions to know we need someone different so that they could make some good decisions. Enough good ones to make this team competitive again.

The interceptions were bad, but all four matter. You can’t dismiss the blocked FG because of the other three. They all played a role in the loss and they all matter.

Most defenses fail when the offense turns the ball over that many times. That is a fact.
Our Defense was walked all over all game. That's a fact. Our offense failed also. That's a fact. It was a total team failure. That's a fact. All that said....it doesn't take away from the fact our defense was lousy today against a 2nd and third string QB. Horrible.

Agreed. That's why I pointed out to Troglodyte that he was only addressing the blocked FG and not the other 3 trips.
It was a **** show all the way around.

We are used to him not answering questions. Still waiting on the thanksgiving overview

They played like what they are a bad team.

Correct. Over half the league is a bad team. Where will we end up at the end of the season? Top 5 pick or middle of the pack?

The same thing that happens if the defense is able to prevent one of the Ravens three scores.
