Surprise Tomlin

Which read was your favorite on that shelf?
They are all interesting and sometimes poignant, but the simplest one that always brings a smile is "Always a Home Game" that explained the diaspora a wee tiny bit, then showed a lot of folks with family from the Pittsburgh area, and many that have no real connection except that for som reason, we bleed black and gold.

This thread is absolutely brutal. We need @bermudasteel to chime in.
Yaaaay! My cheerleader misses me.

Your infatuation for African American men is, ahhhh, hmmm, weird.

There's a website somewhere on the interweb that will crave your desires...

I didn't know about this gesture from Coach Cowher to Coach Tomlin; kinda neat.

This brought back a memory to me:
I was once met a former poster here, SteelChip, near his home in Interlachen, FL.
He was an awesome gentleman, and brought small gifts of Steeler stuff & trinkets for my boys, and the bottle of IC (with nuts!), in the pic below:

Chip was a great guy, a nice family man, a great contributor here, and has been missed greatly since his passing.

If you have one, please raise up a pint to SteelChip's memory!
Uncle Chip was the greatest! It was great to meet him IRL!!!

What he does on his own time is his business.

😅

Anyone surprised that Tomlin has not given a press conference? Not a word of congratulation to new coach? Is this saying more than I am resigning , moving on or more as some sour grapes. We all were down on Tomlin at the end I get it. Just surprised that Tomlin, did not have press conference as some respect to the organization and the city as well as the majority of fan base that had been in his corner.
He ran like a vampire from holy water...somethings funny.

Looks like he was told to pack up his s*it and get off the premises.

Dan Patrick was talking about Belichick and the HOF today and said: "What's going to happen when Tomlin's name comes around for the HOF? There no coaching tree there."
If the coaching tree argument was worth a shiit, why wasn't the McCarthy hire met with more enthusiasm? He has a tree.

He hasn't said anything new or different in a 'news conference' in 15 years! Why would anyone want to listen to his same old, tired, worn-out BS again?
That's why Josh Pray (Fake MT) on YouTube was so funny.
Years ago when I was self-employed and had more time I would post the weekly "Obviously" over/under for the Tuesday presser along with the "MT Word Of The Week".

I'm glad the classless a**hole is gone. Regardless of how butthurt he is, it is a real classless move not to say thank you to the city of Pittsburgh. This city made he and his wife multimillionaires - show some damn appreciation! I hope he ends up broke living under a bridge somewhere. Never, ever liked him - not one iota. If I were Art, I would be pissed that he didn't show his appreciation and come out and say he was fired, because I finally woke up and realize what a complete dipsh** he was! Then, if the knocking up a waitress was true, bring it all out as part of the reason we told him to get the f*** out! I would then refer to Tomlin as the douchebag hypocrite for failing to meet the standard of a good husband to his wife. This all would make headlines across the country and I would smile from ear to ear. (Yes, I'm a vindictive a**hole!) Did I tell you I always hated that ********?

Have to let that anger go. He is gone the fans get a new chapter. It does no good wishing bad on others. I don’t and I wanted him out as much as anyone.

So much I wanted to stop watching and was planning to take a break.

Anger is pretty powerful, we should try to draw a line in that sand. It just serves no healthy purpose .

Agree, I'm just glad he's gone. Like I said earlier, I never thought I'd see this day.
I'm 65 years old I was thinking we'd be mediocre and never win a playoff game for the rest of my life.
I hold out no such hope for the Pirates though. The Buccos are dead to me.

I am a casual fan with them so it doesn’t eat at me as much as it would if the Steelers clowned around to that level. Although I find it is much easier not to watch regularly . I do enjoy attending the occasional baseball game…

The Steelers hadn't reached that level with me yet but another few years with Captain Cool Shades and they would have.
It's like I say about the Pirates, if the owner doesn't care if the team wins why should I?

Agree sir. I was beginning to lose my fervor for the team under Shades. I'm 61, and delighted at the prospect of something new and different on the coaching front, regardless of the outcome for year 1 McCarthy.

Feel for you on the Pirates. Being from NY growing up a Mets fan.... Still pissed we missed taking a local kid from Brooklyn named Candelaria in the '72 draft.... He was my fav LHP to watch... Absolutely destroyed left handed batters....

I know my post comes off angry, but I'm truly not. I am so happy and relieved he is finally gone. The anger in my post comes from the fact that he hasn't addressed the city or the fans - it's a respect thing! There is a way you handle yourself in situations and it doesn't matter how it happened, but he lived a very good life here in the 'Burgh. Every other coach that gets fired or leaves addresses the city and the fans - he has not and it's real slap in the face to be honest with you (that's my angry part). He always preached about standing up to be a "man" and be responsible and such, but here he is hiding like a little girl all butthurt that she didn't make prom queen! I think the city is finally waking up to the kind of man he truly is and it is not a good look on him.

All of that leader of men **** is nonsense it appears. It's just a bunch of bad blah blah. Your actions speak louder that words.

It doesn't matter now. That chapter and book is finished.

Gotya.

Definitely not sure why he left so I get the irritation. Still we can have anger, angst, etc. without wishing someone bad.

I am sure you are just venting but yeah..

I'm sure he heard the talk that he won everything he won with Cowher's team and staff. Heck, I was one of the leading critics on that front.
Now he'll never be able to prove them wrong and I'm sure he's pissed off about it.
Thing is, I don't care if he's the HC for another 100 years he wasn't going to get to another Super Bowl, much less win one.
For a guy who we were told lives and breathes football 24/7 he sure wasn't able to see what works and what doesn't.
Ego outweighs football knowledge I guess.

Yeah that Tomlin lives and breathes football 24/7 makes him the only coach who does that. BS!
Like the other 31 head coaches don’t spend the majority of their lives concentrating on football.
It’s a twelve month job and requires an enormous amount of attention so you think guys like Sean Payton, Sean McVay, Kyle Shanahan don’t spend enormous amounts of their time watching film and other things related to football.
Of course they do but it’s all in how you relate your football knowledge to the football field. Tomlin’s produced the same results year after year. Mediocrity at its finest!
