Talk about LeVeon Bell in one place

here's some food for thought. say Bell holds out till week ten we get to keep like 8 million of his money this year and it rolls to next years cap correct? If the 3rd year franchise tag is say 23 million we could tag him again next year for basically an average of roughly 15million per year which is about what we offered him this year. who in the hell would offer him that big contract he wants two years from now. The way I see it is we hold the cards and could really **** him hard.

Sorry 1356 I type to damn slow.

Bell is money hungry. That is fact. He will be here this week to sign his tender and get his money. Whether he half-***** it or gives 100% is anyone's guess, but he will suit up on Sunday and split with Conner. He will not be in football shape, so it's going to take several weeks for him to go all out, just like last year. I just don't see him giving up any on that $14M this year. Why he didn't show up today, who knows, but in the next two days he will make his entrance and will be THE talk up until Sunday. The media will kiss his *** and all will move on. He'll say all the right things and it will be like nothing has been out of place.

I would prefer WHENEVER it is he reports that we start Conner/Samuels until they prove ineffective or we’re not winning games. Bell is NOT in shape like the rest of the team, regardless of what he’s been doing to keep in shape by himself. He hasn’t been practicing with the team. If/when he shows up, let him mope on the bench. If nothing else, he’s fresh for the playoff push.

oh, the drama

I wonder if that 49ers RB guy tearing his ACL and a LB getting $140M with $90M guaranteed changed his plans?

Knowing Bell is a money-craving prima donna, my best guess is he shows up, signs the franchise tag to bank the cash, then goes full dragging-leg mode rest of the way, feigns injury, misses practices, just games the system rest of the season in hopes of 1. getting traded, 2. making it through the season with no injuries so he can hit the open market fit as a whistle.

The least likely scenario is he shows up, works his *** off, plays his heart out, leaves everything on the field, does everything he can to help his team win games and make a run in the playoffs.

I still say there's a 10-15% chance that could happen. Pouncey and some others claim that will be the case, that Bell puts all this anomosity on the shelf, shows up in great shape and is a stellar teammate the rest of the way.

At this stage I'd be shocked to see it happen. The whole city has soured on him, I'm beginning to wonder about his coaches and teammates as well.

We'll know soon enough, if and when he shows up, what kind of approach and attitude he'll take.

Way too much ******* drama for my taste, I agree with those that are sick of it all.

Poor play would be detrimental to his achieving a megabucks contract next year. Poor play, intentional or not, would send signals to teams courting him that he's likely hit the ceiling and is on a downward spiral. And even if it was absolutely clear that he was intentionally sandbagging it, what team would fork over major moolah on a player who's made it abundantly clear that he will sabotage the team for selfish reasons?

On paper I agree with you, but Bell has put enough on tape these past few years the league knows exactly what he's capable of. I'm afraid he's getting advice from people who have singular focus on him maximizing his worth while minimizing the risks of this throw-away season. It's sad, actually pathetic, that it would come to this. But at this stage nothing would suprise me as far as what Bell has up his sleeve. I hope I'm wrong. I hope he shows up and gives it his all. He owes that much to the Rooneys and to his teammates, coaches. But I'm not conviced those things mean much of anything to him right now.

70-80% Bell > Connor

Last year definitely. With his improvement throughout the offseason and training camp. You would think the percentages change. Obviously not to the point they are considered equal talent........

He isn’t playing this week. Still needs to pass physical before he can even practice.

He can still play, after he signs his tender and shows up to practice on Wed.

Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey told ESPN: "He'll be here Wednesday. Count on it."

Watch him show up then blow his drug test and is suspended for several weeks. Can they test him before he signs?

I still think he plays this week. Although I doubt he will be very effective.

I disagree. Conner could have averaged 3.2 yards per carry last season just as well as Bell did after he first came back.

Running back by committee is an upward trend and I don’t see why we can’t do this here. Make him sit if we think he’s not ready. Connor and jaysam can easily shoulder the load.

Next man up doesn't seem to be the way reality is. No way Bell should be let on the field by Tomlin who loves to sit the ones he is mad at. Bell in all reality should be let go he has done nothing but keep this team in limbo and no way I believe behind the say the right thing walls that the players are OK with his actions. POSSIBLY not the organization but to a . Total class less act by a class less player.

Usually a normal practice week is Film and meetings Tuesday, practice Wed, Thu, Fri. That determines your health and injury status. Bell is waiting for the normal practice week this year. It's dumb, because he has to learn a new offense.

If he shows Wed, he won't be playing more than 50% of the snaps on Sunday, and he will NOT start.

I personally think he had a BBQ on Labor day, and is taking Tuesday to sleep it off before flying in to start his season.

Show Wed and I would sit you until you show you know the O.

And that includes showing it in practices.

If you send a strong enough message now, other players will take notice.

Since I now know that rescinding the tag at this time kills our chances of getting a 3rd comp pick, I could care less when he shows. When ever he shows up, I use the special clause that allows for a reduced wage for a limited time. I would also roll with the guys we have until such time as Bell is up to speed, then use him in a rotation, unless the guys playing are tearing it up. I would also use the transition tag if possible, just in case his money options go in the *******. A healthy Bell in the event of a playoff opportunity is not a bad option.

BTW Tibs, isn't that Benstonium one funny Twitter handle? The Olympic Curling w/ Phil Kessel and the screenshot of the Steelers half-time show "Edmund has sex with a rack of ribs". The list goes way on, but those are just two examples.

As others have pointed out Coach, they simply can't trade him at this point. He would have to sign his franchise tender first, which he hasn't done.

Coach doesn’t read other posts only his own. He loves to see his name mentioned. So expect him to repeat it constantly.

Is he?

2017

Game 1
10 carries 32 yards 3.2 YPC
3 receptions 15 yards 5.0 YPC

Game 2
27 carries 87 yards 3.2 YPC
4 receptions 4 yards 1.0 YPC

Excellent sample size.

Connor lasted 68 offensive snaps last year. Yet everyone considers bell as "injury prone".
