The Coronavirus thread

My conspiracy theory is that time travel IS real & someone keeps trying to fix 2020 by changing something but every time they do, they unwittingly make it worse. How else do you explain the sudden disappearance of murder hornets? They saved us from those but at what cost?!?

I saw a picture of a praying mantis eating one of those the other day. So obviously they are not all that.

I'm still looking for that automatic semi-automatic where I pull the trigger one time and it shoots 100 rounds in ten seconds.

Because (D)ims said it existed and they cannot be that ******* stupid, right?

Oh you missed it. They're right next to the ghost gun that fires 10 times that in a second. They normally only sell them to very disturbed adults and 8 year old kids.

Did you see the video by chance? Holy crap, Praying Mantis' do not mess around. Just started obliterating it's face off and just went from there until the entire body was gone. We need a couple of those in our government.

Steeltime, can't really remember the details off the top my head but what was it that Trog said about a gun or caliber round (?) he fired that isn't even in existence?

Edit: sorry I do that **** sometimes, quote you and address another person.

No,but now I have to go find it. I used to keep those in a jar when I'd catch one. Amazing little suckers. We could certainly use it's skill set and surgical expertise in devouring traitorous vermin.

Dumbass Biden said that if he's elected he will force the entire country to wear masks in public. ......

He forgot to add; And each night these masked people will go door to door asking for candy.

And a little hair sniff.

What is the issue you, or anyone else for that matter, has with wearing a mask at an indoor location or a crowded outdoor location?

If it's being mandated by the state, that is the issue I (and many others I'll assume) have with it. For a virus that looks like it has about a 1% mortality rate (probably less), you don't mandate grown adults wear a mask or risk being punished. That's a slippery slope and we're not communist ******* Cuba.

It’s all bullshit. Stop drinking the kool aid.

It's not bullshit.

It's an extremely contagious disease that can basically shut down your lungs in extreme cases.

The Europeans are not seeing anything close to the increase in cases the US is currently because most of their people take this **** seriously.

It's not total bullshit, but it's also not the Black Plague. The country of Sweden is not on a lockdown and they have very few deaths (even if their country isn't nearly as populated as the US or similar). It's a moderate to severe flu (from the cases I, layman, observe) that doesn't result in any lung shut down unless you have some serious underlying medical conditions/co-morbidities or get put on a ventilator (thank you New York).

My mom's friend's husband is 77 years old, has a plethora of health problems including COPD and currently resides in a nursing home, and he contracted Covid-19 apparently. I initially thought he was done for, but he spent one night in the ICU & he was better within two days and walking around. That's a person with a seriously compromised immune system, and he made it.

And let me ask you a question; do you know anyone who's had the virus? There are probably hundreds of us on this site and I don't recall any single user saying that they (or their family) contracted the virus. We live in every little area of the country (of all ages) and no one seems to have contracted it (or been so sick from contracting it that they had to go to the hospital). If this is such a serious virus, wouldn't you think we'd have some personal stories here already?

A friend's wife had it in April and was in pretty bad shape in intensive care for about a week, but is fine now

She was only in her early 40s, but is overweight and diabetic.

Unfortunately, we have a lot of unhealthy people in this country for various reasons.

Where I work (10000+employees) we have under 20 cases so far that we have been told about. One hotspot was in a area that I have equipment I work on, 6 guys between the ages of 25-35 all healthy. Only 1 of the guys showed some mild symptoms, they tested the other guys because they work very close to one another in a pod. The other guys had no symptoms, all of them returned to work after the required 14 days I believe.

Yes. My brother-in-law's brother in Florida died from it and like many he had other health problems already. A friend of mine in Pittsburgh and her husband both got it and recovered.

I know several people who have tested positive with mild or no symptoms and one whose father who had Alzheimer’s died of it in a nursing home. Weirdly one of my friend’s mother is in her 90s, in a nursing home in heart and kidney failure, tested positive with no symptoms. Isolated for two weeks and tested negative twice, never had symptoms. I’m guessing if she got the flu it would kill her but this passed through her like it was nothing. I feel like there must be some kind of genetic reason it hits some people so hard.

The country is extremely overweight, deconditioned diabetic or pre-diabetic. The mask stuff is really just to make us feel more comfortable. It's more psychological than anything. You're probably more likely to catch something with them on due to cross contamination. You'll have to be ocd washing your hands every single time you touch it. You can't just go through a store touch all kinds.of ****,hit the debit card key pad, touch your phone, go to your car then take your mask off with your dirty hands.

This covid is going to run its course nothing is changing that now. We have no less than 10 million and maybe as high as 30 million who have it or had it and didn't know.

Stay home, don't stay home. Someone has to steer the damn ship or it's going to hit an iceberg and sink.

I'm more concerned with the communist movement and how we stop the impending serious internal conflict if we don't

Interesting. I've heard this particular virus has some sort of genetic receptor that attaches to the cells of the host in some particular way that other viruses have not. It's really hard to get accurate medical information on this virus because it's become so damn political.

Fact is that every year we have a flu season and even with a vaccine that works over 90% of the time we still have tens of thousands of deaths. If they mutate the wrong strain and the vaccine doesn't work for the majority strain, like a few years ago, you can get almost 100,000 deaths. But even the wrong mutated strain will still be effective for 10-30% of cases. So the common flu would probably kill well over 120,000 people every year without a vaccine. Which is basically what this virus is doing in the U.S. without a vaccine.

Another almost 10,000 cases today. Confirmed over 132,000 now. All these months of shut down everything, distance this and that, wash your hands...blah.blah blah and all it did was delay it.

Deaths are I believe 24 for the day. Now we have to go through the cycles of people developing antibodies while the media tries to fuel hysteria.

Honestly I don't get the anti-mask thing. It stands to reason that any kind of barrier is going to inhibit the spread of whatever spews from your mouth somewhat. Maybe it's not very effective. So what? If it's only a tiny bit effective it might slow the spread a little and it's really not that big a deal to wear one.

Now, trying to get little kids to wear them all day in school is going to be a nightmare and totally unnecessary. They will be chewing them, shooting them like rubber bands, trading them, breaking them, sneezing into them and not changing them...just no. Give every kid a box of tissues and some hand sanitizer and be done with it.

My daughters have both supposedly been exposed and tested within the last three weeks. Both tested negative.

Masks definitely work in my opinion.

And the best way to slow the virus is to avoid high-traffic, inside areas and really isolate those that are most susceptible. I think certain work environments (the "cubicle office design" with highly ventilated air flow) are terrible. Places like call centers or where 20-30 people have desks in one big room. Bad. I still this people eating inside restaurants are crazy. You sit down for a dinner that last 60-90 minutes, talking, no masks, things being touched and passed around. Bad. Sitting at a bar. That's just stupid.

There are some things that are probably fine. Shopping with a mask is probably fine. I mean, unless you're talking 5 people in an aisle at the same time or something, no one is "talking" while shopping. No one is spewing the virus all over the place.

Places where you talk a LOT in crowded spots are bad. That's how the virus gets airborne. That's how you breath it in. Given enough concentration in the air and given enough time breathing it in, you will get the virus. Both of the those factors (concentration in air and time) are important. You either try to reduce the concentration airborne or you limit your time in that environment. Every decision we make has to consider those two factors.

Masks are a "mass Reassurance Ritual" to borrow the phrase from Alvin Toffler and one that he used to describe the farce of elections every four years compared to the continuous influence of the Deep State.
