The Coronavirus thread

It's clear that people's wellbeing is not a chief concern.
I was encouraged recently at a small family get together. Politics is usually not discussed but these days it's unavoidable. There were people who i know vote straight Dem talking about how this is all being done to hurt Trump. It's obvious.

1,500 deaths yesterday, the most in three months. Those people died to hurt Trump?

1,500 deaths yesterday, the most in three months. Those people died to hurt Trump?

Who knows what they actually died from. If they died from Covid-1984, or with Covid-1984.

Did those poor people in nursing homes die to hurt Cuomo and the other criminally malicious Democrat governors who seeded Nursing homes with Covid patients? That's Nazi Germany level eugenics and Death by Administration.

So, for those who don't think RFID chipping, ID2020, and biometrics are at the heart of the plandemic, enter the testimony of Joe Biden when confirming/grilling John Roberts:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3eER_zO1tQ&feature=youtu.be

Biden isn't telling Roberts that Roberts will grapple with these said future moral dilemmas. He's informing him in no uncertain terms that RFID chipping and Artificial Intelligence are coming and that he will vote on the right side and roll over as the price for Confirmation.

We've already seen Roberts capitulate on all the other initiatives of the globalists.

So we had our back to school in service two days ago. Basically our plan for returning back to school is no plan. Every day things are changing, so the admin has no answers. Some teachers are ready to go, others are terrified and asking stupid questions. We can go to bed on Monday, September 7 thinking we are returning in person and wake up the firs day of school and find out it’s all virtual.

Side note- schools are not required to social distance, and If a parent elects for the child to go all virtual, a parent/guardian must be at home all day to sign the student in and out of each class. Once the parents found that out, they HAD to elect in person...and they are pissed. So no matter what, it’s a **** show.

Unless a parent is home to supervise, I can't see how virtual classes will work. Because of the fear spread daily by the media, I can understand the apprehension of parents in sending their kids back.
It's a no win situation that feeds into this panic induced election year. Glad I don't have to deal with it.

Oh I forgot to add- a parent whose child is signed up for all virtual went to the DISTRICT admin because the HS would
NOT hand deliver and/or provide weights for the kid’s ONLINE weight training class. For over a week, the HS admin dealt with these parents. When they finally were told by the district admin, they relented. Unfortunately, this is only ONE story of **** the teachers and staff are dealing with.

We are going back 5 days with all students attending. We gave students and families the option to opt out into an online school program if they wanted to.....as of now we only had 10 kids opt out. All staff are required to wear masks. Students are all highly recommended to wear masks. We aren't giving out lockers because of the close proximity so I assume they will all keep their stuff in designated areas around the building. I went into the building the other day and there were blue X's of tape all up and down the hallways about 6 feet apart so I am guessing those are for reference so the students can space themselves out while in the hallway.

Staff are required to wear masks. Students are as well and there will be disciplinary measures if not followed. Our students are more than likely mask exempt because of medical issues or their sensory/autism issues. Our kids need to sit at tables, but tables aren’t allowed. We have one student who overheats easily and requires a fan on her. Fans aren’t allowed. It’s required for all students to use hand sanitizer before, during, and after each class. Awesome....except we have some kiddos who lick sanitizer and will drink it if not locked up. So stuff for SpEd is still a cluster ****. I DO know not a lot of academics will be going on for a while-just behavior management and keeping them from hurting us and each other. FUN.

It is unrealistic for schools to provide weights for all students, but I'm sure the district is not going to give tax money back because they can't do the class properly. If i was the school district i would put a * by any classes that require additional equipment with a note saying "must provide own equipment."
My daughter's school is doing the hybrid model which sucks. If you have like 2-3 kids and work then come home and have to play teacher that is rough.

Interesting that a new number being reported re: these school openings is "number who are quarantining".

Is there any more meaningless number than that? A new way to report the biggest, scariest sounding numbers possible.

My kids started school today, hybrid schedule. I think they'll go back full time after the election, probably starting with after Christmas Break. They never should've stopped in school learning in the first place.

We say Merry Christmas again.

Or....how about NOT having your kid take a virtual weight training class??? OMG what a novel concept!!!

You do not see a problem with this concept? On so many levels?

  • The money used to run these public schools is "ours"
  • Government is FOR the people BY the people
  • It is our RIGHT to demand things like better education
  • When the school districts run with OUR money limit the education, the service and the offering while keeping 100% of the money, that is a problem.
  • You suggest that the burden be put back on the parents (must provide own equipment) - so the parents and children receive less without getting a refund and are required to pay more for equipment the school otherwise would have provided??

These and other reasons have led many to start demanding refunds. And have led many states to begin pushing for schools to reopen when their initial stance was to keep them closed.

Your suggested approach - I'm sorry - is just wrong and unjustified based upon the source of the funds - the people.

Right.

That can be applied to all of the coronavirus measures.

In the initial "emergency" phase of this illness, leaders had to make quick decisions to stall an impending disaster.

Now this virus is a part of our lives. It's something we all have to live with, and manage. As such...we, the people who pay the bills, should have some say in these decisions. No mandates or measures should be imposed without a legislative body passing them. It's ludicrous that we have handed over power for virtually every aspect of our lives to a few individuals at the top without citizens getting a vote. It's time for that to end. We have all been educated ad nauseum about the risks and should have the right to decide for ourselves. Trust the people to make the correct decisions for themselves. I think a lot of these measures would go over a lot better with people if they were enacted through a democratic process.

wow....you got your hands full Lyn.

Regarding the Virtual Weight Training class:

It’s an elective. It’s not a core class. It’s also something I don’t see working virtually. If it were a core class, then I would expect the district to figure out a way to provide for it. I don’t expect the parents to pay for weights either. However, my guess is that the student is an athlete and already has the stuff at home and his parents are just being ********. Not totally a shock considering the parents we deal with daily.

in Trumpa, the county has given two options:
A) return to school - students and staff will wear masks, walk single-file in halls, practice social-distancing and use hand sanitizer. halls are taped off to show for flow of walking direction
B) do classes online - if opted to this, students will have to appear online all class, and must stay in online class enrollment for the first semester. if they participate in after-school activities (clubs, sports), they are not allowed on campus until those clubs/teams meet

Off the top of my head -

my questions for in-school:
1) how are you going to keep little kids from removing their masks in school?
2) how will schools enforce mask-wearing in hallways?
3) how will social distancing be enforced?
4) how will classrooms be cleaned between classes?
5) how is busing going to be affected?
6) how will car drop-off and pick-up be done?
7) how will you keep kids from swapping masks?
8) school is not only about learning, but also about social interacting. how will this take place?

for opting for online classes:
1) will the schools provide laptops?
2) how will online curriculum be recorded?
3) what if a student becomes ill - how will they make up time/work?
4) when equipment breaks (and it will) what is the protocol for replacing/repairing?
5) how will testing be coordinated?
6) if a student becomes affected by Rona, will they have the option to go online if they opted to attend classes in person?

i have a cousin in New Mexico with three kids (8-10). I believe they're doing all online. How is he to get his kids to do online classes when he has to work?

Schools are NOT required to enforce social distancing. Learned that on Tuesday. It’a not a KS thing. Apparently it’s nationwide. That school in GA who was put on blast by that student wasn’t required to social distance. IDK if it’s a state by state thing, but I do know that it’s not breaking any law to not have social distancing.

There are really no good answers.

Our school district is doing in person for K-3 and hybrid for everyone else. 2 days at school/week. They do provide all kids with Chromebooks. You can opt in or out of in person instruction at any time (they were going to make you decide, but it was pointed out that if kids can't get online instruction when they need it, a whole lot of them are going to be popping some Advil and heading to school sick.)

Here's the kicker...two positive tests in any building and it shuts down for 2 weeks.

I expect this all to last about a week. Then we'll be all online.

My daughter is moving back into Georgia Tech today. Freshmen have been there a few days. Reports online of tons of kids congregating maskless and frats holding rush events on the down low at off campus housing.

The virus is going to spread. There's no way to stop it. We can only try to slow it down somewhat.

For us, online curriculum can not be recorded. It all has to be done “live” but virtual. It’s a violation of confidentiality to have pre recorded lessons- with parents being there, they could hear info that violates another students’ privacy. The difference between what’s going on now and what happened over the spring is that the stuff in spring was optional and the recordings were personalized. This is a regular class and FERPA applies.

Clusterfuck? I think so. And we wonder why teachers are irritated...
