Right.
That can be applied to all of the coronavirus measures.
In the initial "emergency" phase of this illness, leaders had to make quick decisions to stall an impending disaster.
Now this virus is a part of our lives. It's something we all have to live with, and manage. As such...we, the people who pay the bills, should have some say in these decisions. No mandates or measures should be imposed without a legislative body passing them. It's ludicrous that we have handed over power for virtually every aspect of our lives to a few individuals at the top without citizens getting a vote. It's time for that to end. We have all been educated ad nauseum about the risks and should have the right to decide for ourselves. Trust the people to make the correct decisions for themselves. I think a lot of these measures would go over a lot better with people if they were enacted through a democratic process.
in Trumpa, the county has given two options:
A) return to school - students and staff will wear masks, walk single-file in halls, practice social-distancing and use hand sanitizer. halls are taped off to show for flow of walking direction
B) do classes online - if opted to this, students will have to appear online all class, and must stay in online class enrollment for the first semester. if they participate in after-school activities (clubs, sports), they are not allowed on campus until those clubs/teams meet
Off the top of my head -
my questions for in-school:
1) how are you going to keep little kids from removing their masks in school?
2) how will schools enforce mask-wearing in hallways?
3) how will social distancing be enforced?
4) how will classrooms be cleaned between classes?
5) how is busing going to be affected?
6) how will car drop-off and pick-up be done?
7) how will you keep kids from swapping masks?
8) school is not only about learning, but also about social interacting. how will this take place?
for opting for online classes:
1) will the schools provide laptops?
2) how will online curriculum be recorded?
3) what if a student becomes ill - how will they make up time/work?
4) when equipment breaks (and it will) what is the protocol for replacing/repairing?
5) how will testing be coordinated?
6) if a student becomes affected by Rona, will they have the option to go online if they opted to attend classes in person?
i have a cousin in New Mexico with three kids (8-10). I believe they're doing all online. How is he to get his kids to do online classes when he has to work?
