Correct me if I'm wrong, but when the team won 6 of its last 8 games last year the offense didn't look anything like it does right now. The offense was ahead of the chains and executing very easy plays to make third downs. It used the run game effectively, but also sent Bell out on some simple routes and checked it down to him in space early in the progression. The runs were well timed and nothing seemed schedulized. This offense looks exactly like it did at the beginning of last season. So you got the blueprint of what you need to do and you don't seem to be using it. What the **** are you guys doing? Either Ben id refusing to do what made the offense successful at the end of the season, or the OC is not using whatever offensive structure (be it no huddle) that made them successful. Even for Mike Tomlin that should be pretty easy to figure out. I can handle hard losses, but that wasn't even a cohesive attempt.

It's not Haley's fault if Ben over throws his WRs or if those WRs drop passes that hit them in the hands

So you felt there was flow and rhythm to that offensive play calling. Were there mistakes, by the players, yeah there were. But they ran, ran third and short every ****** series until they were down by two scores and then tried to throw throw throw. They were beyond predictable.

Haley's calls aren't as bad as the players that SEEM to not run the route correctly or drop balls. No play makers. We continue to have to have an 80 or longer drive and when you run without a break away or have third and short you roll the dice. At least twice while we were still in the game on third and short we threw long. That I question when we hadn't made a long pass play up to these times. You watch Cleveland sideline they had the WANT, our side no enthusiasm at all. I see the disconnect in the head coach just seems to look oblivious on the sidelines.

Haley calls an atrocious game every week. His play calling has no rhyme nor reason. If something is working he goes to the opposite extreme to show how smart he is. He makes ZERO adjustments either to the flow of the game or at half-time. Every week we see Ben with exasperated looks to the sideline. This week, the plan was to run against a beat up D-Line .. I could live with that, but to fail to understand that the secondary was just as beat up and to neuter Ben and not allow him to get into a flow/rhythm? Unacceptable.
That said, it IS Tomlin's fault in essence because he allows Haley to get away with this bullshit.

I said this back when Arians was getting ripped all the time. The problem is the QB. Now that he can't do what he used to do athletically, he is done. He never fully developed the skill of quarterbacking. The offense doesn't look all that different from then, it is just the defense could bail them out. The constant is the QB.

I hope to hell they don't extend him. Use the money to start rebuilding this thing.

To the point of when the score was 14-3 the play distribution was 18 runs to 7 passes. If anyone believes that it was Roethlisberger's fault they got behind they aren't really watching the game.

Add dropped passes as well.

Ben hasn't played to expectations, but my gut instinct is he just has the wrong coaches at his disposal.

Oh and to that point he was 4 for 7 with a long PI penalty and a drop. Yes it was Ben's fault they were down 11 points.

Who are the right coaches? Arians was the wrong coach. Haley is the wrong coach. Tomlin is the wrong coach. The big baby didn't like Whisenhunt. The constant is Ben.

The offense seems to run pretty smoothly when they let Ben call the plays. The disjointed bullshit happens when T*dd "I got this job because of daddy" Haley is running the show. Mr. Wifeswapper needs to go. It's not like they don't have a viable interim OC on staff ... Fichner could take over for the rest of the year.

This is totally dead on.

So Tomlin isn't the constant?

Ben plays defense?

Ben makes the WR drop balls?

Ben is responsible for the plethora of penalties?

Ben is responsible for nobody getting benched?

Ben is responsible for no half time adjustments?

He shares a percentage of blame.

But this team is by far not coached well, and it shows up in every faucet of the game.

Cmon, man. Ben never really developed the skill of dropping the ball off to running backs if nothing was open downfield. We have been waiting for that forever. He continues to let the ******* play clock run down all the way. Of all the things that piss me off, that is the biggest. It is stupid football. Get them up to the line and just run the play. Even in the "hurryup" the playclock goes down to under 10. It is inexcusable. Also, if what I read this week is true, it was Ben calling those brilliant plays in the redzone last week.

The only thing to do with him is bring in a coach who will not let him run the show and throw it more than 25 times a game. If there is any chance, you have to go back to an offense like he had his first few years. That is the QB he is.

Whoever Mr. Crash is, he's hit the nail on the head. It's not like they were losing with Ben when Arians was OC. We might not have liked his style, but they won. They have been mediocre under the direction of T*dd Haley. And if Ben is the constant, you don't discount the winning under Arians. Plain and simple, for whatever reason, Haley's offensive concept isn't working. He has a top flight WR and RB to pair with Ben, along with Heath and the job just isn't getting done.

We saw that plan at work in the first half. How'd that work out?

Then Tomlin should fire him. Show some balls.

But that would require stepping up and making key decisions.

Hell even Arians was the owners decision, not Tomlins...........

And if you read my posts last week on their goal line offense I didn't have a problem with running three times. I just think they don't even have a clue about personnel. Bell is a vision patience runner. That and goal line really have nothing in common with patience. I'd roll the dice with Blount three times. Goal line is about balance I 33 lead and sledgehammer the bubble. They just don't have a clue.

Oh, I agree, Haley should be fired. And Tomlins SHOULD be the one to do it. Personally, I think Tomlin is mailing it in this year and we'll see him announce he's taking a break from coaching at the end of the season. Too many things pointing to that ... "Selfies", "record chases", not jumping Haley's *** for his weak as game plans and play calling ... all point to a guy who's about to "retire" if you will.

Charlie Batch, just now on post game radio, blamed Haley. Or at least strongly suggested it being Haley's fault.

When asked about the slow no-huddle Charlie said he believes Haley is trying to call the play into Ben's helmet, instead of just letting Ben call the plays.
When asked why an OC would do that Charlie suggested "ego, if the QB get's all the credit for a successful offensive it makes you look bad"
Wow.
Then they recalled the Tomlin comment from last week's press conference when asked about not running in the Redzone, Tomlin said "I don't call the plays".
When asked why Ben didn't throw to Miller today Charlie said Haley was trying to make up for not running last week and that he's just making things up as he goes along.

Charlie batch basically flamed Haley hard on the post game show.

he is talking about it again right now

Ben is NOT the problem. He was off today on a few throws. The REASON he was off is they never let him get into any type of rhythim. If you truly think Ben is the problem, you might want to check is QB rating and carreer stats. There is PLENTY of blame to go around, but run run pass punt, and run run run punt were the problems for this offense today, and those do NOT lay at the feet of the qb.

We were running the ball at will, 3rd and 1, and we try a pass to a wr, dropped. 3rd and 2, and we try a pass to the SAME wr? Seriously? IF you're going to commit to the run, how about staying ******* committed on 3rd down?

Joe

Charlie Batch just said again, be strongly believes Haley is calling all the plays even in no-huddle.

Damn, he is pissed. This is the most upset I've heard Charlie. Not even trying to make excuses.

It was either Kaboly or Kovacevic who stated this earlier. That lately they noticed that Haley had been calling the plays into Ben in the no huddle. They said to watch carefully during the game and you'd see Ben putting his hand to his ear hole so that he could hear the play being radioed in. Sure as ****, it happened in the no huddle every time they showed Ben.

That's ridiculous. Just as Tomlin got Cowher's great team(with a great Oline) handed to him on a silver platter, SO DID ARIANS! The problem as another poster mentioned is Ben. You take the good and the bad with him. The good was that he was a young Brett Favre gunslinger type QB, the bad is that now he's an old Brett Favre gunslinger type. As the other poster mentioned he never was a great skills QB(thanks to Arians) and now that chicken has come home to roost.

Haley was brought in to clean Arian's mess, and what a mess it is. Those teams could hardly ever put up enough points, it was A GREAT DEFENSE that saved them time and again. Super Bowl 43 how many points did we put up against the lowly Cards.? 20 right? Arians was pathetic, correction is pathetic. I don't care what is happening in Arizona soon they'll see what he is, his whole history as a coach even HC in college has been that of mediocrity to just stinky bad. He'll have his Marty Schottenheimer"It only took me 30 years to learn how to coach at an average level" 15 minutes and then disappear just like Marty.

If Ben is being resistant to Haley's great offense it will come as no surprise to me as he never learned the skill set to master it. In the hands of an accurate and competent system QB we would be talking playoffs right now. You take the good and bad with Ben maybe it's just time for a lot of bad.

Doesn't seem that Ben is "resistant" to Haley's offense. In fact, given the chance to throw Haley under the bus, he never does.

As far as Haley cleaning anything up, the same problems exist under Haley as were here under Arians. Less sacks? No. More effective run game ... maybe, but then it doesn't translate to points does it? More effective Red Zone offense? No.
So exactly what has Haley cleaned up and made better in his time here? Not a damned thing.
