The disconnect between the OC and the QB

Charlie Batch, just now on post game radio, blamed Haley. Or at least strongly suggested it being Haley's fault.

When asked about the slow no-huddle Charlie said he believes Haley is trying to call the play into Ben's helmet, instead of just letting Ben call the plays.
When asked why an OC would do that Charlie suggested "ego, if the QB get's all the credit for a successful offensive it makes you look bad"
Wow.
Then they recalled the Tomlin comment from last week's press conference when asked about not running in the Redzone, Tomlin said "I don't call the plays".
When asked why Ben didn't throw to Miller today Charlie said Haley was trying to make up for not running last week and that he's just making things up as he goes along.

Charlie batch basically flamed Haley hard on the post game show.

he is talking about it again right now

If this si true then Haley is even more of an idiot then we thought. When Ben calls the plays, the team responds and seems to run better....so Haley, let him run things and sit back and collect your paycheck.

And If I was going to run Bell inside the ten I'd go pistol with Miller at search and three wide. Spread them out and give Bell more opportunity to see a crease. Let Ben make the final call on run or pass based upon the defensive alignment at the LOS.

55-25 with Arians

19-19 with Haley.

Whoever Mr. Crash is, he's hit the nail on the head. It's not like they were losing with Ben when Arians was OC. We might not have liked his style, but they won. They have been mediocre under the direction of T*dd Haley. And if Ben is the constant, you don't discount the winning under Arians. Plain and simple, for whatever reason, Haley's offensive concept isn't working. He has a top flight WR and RB to pair with Ben, along with Heath and the job just isn't getting done.

Happens to also coincide with the demise of the defense.

Ben is an odd QB in that the stats and big plays never result in a consistent offense and never a good scoring offense 11 years into his career. He does not throw his receivers open or throw into tight windows, instead buying time and waiting for his receivers to uncover before he throws the ball. This results in big plays but kills the team in the red zone as the windows are tight and his indecision allows the defense to blanket the receivers. Ben is not an anticapatory passer like Brees, Rodgers, Brady , Peyton and even rivers and this is why we always struggle on offense. I would not be in a hug rish to extend Ben as his cap ht will be great and his game is not aging well as his physical abilities decrease with age.

This is exactly what a few of us have been saying for years....he has accuracy-confidence issues and his style of play feeds into that.

Charlie Batch just said again, be strongly believes Haley is calling all the plays even in no-huddle.

Damn, he is pissed. This is the most upset I've heard Charlie. Not even trying to make excuses.

Bullshit! Ben sucks, trade him for 3 number 1s, Aaron Rodgers and 10 players to be named later. I so look forward to Ben leaving, I can't wait to get back the days of Stewart, Maddox, O'Donnell, Tomczak, Stoudt, Malone etc.....

It is much easier to fond a QB in todays NFL than it was in the 80s.

1984-2003

Half of the teams in the league would disagree. Ben has his warts, but you don't get better by getting rid of him.

They've scored enough with him to win over 100 games and 2 SBs. That's a hell of a lot more than anyone else managed to do in the 20 years after Terry retired. Trade Ben and they don't compete for at least 5 years....or a lot longer if the current staff is retained.

The defense was one of the all time greats during his tenure, those days are over and he us unable to score enough points to be competitive without a great defense. Brady has won 155 games and lost 49 all without a great defense,

Yet we never are good scoring points with him hhhmmmmm

We had GREAT defense in the 80s and 90s, zero SB wins. Ben gets here, 3 appearances, 2 wins, yeah, **** him especially now when our defense is starting to suck, we shoudl DEF ship that ************ out. This is a GREAT time to usher in the Landry Jones era! Here we go Steelers here we GO!

How many Superbows does Brady have again in that same time frame?

You can't be serious wanting to compare Ben to Brady, LMFAO, Brady went deep today for 361 yards and 4 TD passes, Did Brady get to play with the greatest statistical defense since 1970 like Ben did in 2008 ?

How about they fix the defense instead? Brady hasn't won a SB without a great D either. It's a lot easier to find solid LBs and lineman (unless your name is Tombert) than it is franchise QBs. One question, who is the QB that is going to put up a bunch of points in this offense?

Not Ben that is for sure. Put Brady , Brees, Manning, Rodgers, etc on an offense with Miller, Brown, Wheaton and Bell and the scoreboard is pinging.

Well ****, do they get their choice of any of those guy when they get rid of Ben or are only 1 or 2 in play? I ask again who do you bring in that is going to light up the score board? It damn sure isn't going to be any of those. Manning, Brady and Brees don't light up **** but the injury report behind the vaunted Steelers O-line of the last 10 years.

Except that when The Bruce was here the defense was a hell of a lot better.

I am sure they will send Haley packing and in a year or two he will be the OC or the HC of a division leading team...

Ben needs a great running game and a solid defense behind him so he can be the game manager he was for so many years.

The running game might be closer but the defense he had all those years isnt coming back I am afraid.

Bullshit, all those QBs instantly make the OLIne better by quickly getting rd of the ball, kinda like Ben did in the 2nd half of last year before reverting back to form this year. Seems Hoyer, who was Steeler property before we stupidly cut him to bring back the old, injured leftwich is scoring a ton of points with not a single offensive skill player that could start on the Steelers, hhhmmmmm

It didn't help that two WRs left in the offseason. Leaving the Steelers with scrubs and unprovens, and one pickup who just doesn't get the playing time he deserves.......

Who is Hoyer throwing to for the Browns ? ALways excuses but the Steelers still have great skill players and a QB who won't make quick decisions and play like he did the last 8 games of last year instead playing his stupid playground ball which is exactly why the Steelers have never been good offensively his entire career.

nah not making excuses just pointing out the obvious. I am high on the list for wanting a new coaching staff. That's number one on my what the Steelers need to do in the offseason list.

And who exactly is Hoyer throwing to, street free agents and journeymen at best, no Brown, Miller, Wheaton or Bell in the group.
