. The forecast calls for Stormy weather all week....Bwahahahahaha!

You make valid points, but I don't see them as being true of government lawyers. Government lawyers are paid on a GS scale, usually 12-14, so the money motivation isn't there. And I don't remember the last lawyer, government or whatever, that was interested in the truth. So if their motivation isn't political, they must be pretty unmotivated.

Great points Sarge. And to also bring in a little of Confluence's points, the motivation here is purely law. They want to study and get better at their profession, while upholding the American judicial system. A lot of them transition to high paying jobs in the private sector, once their requirements for years and duty are met. Political affiliation only comes into play if you are going for an elected position. If not, you are working for the constitution and the country.

Politicians and pundits, seem to me, to be the only ones who are purely driven by political affiliations.

So as you can see from my above posts, I'm actually here to have a discussion rather than to exchange words. If you're interested then fine, if not, that's fine too. Just trying to find some common ground.

Don't worry 83fan, you can always hang out in the middle with me. I'm always down for open discussion, and to tell you the truth, it's getting a lot better in this forum than it was during the election and following it...

Good to know. But I even thought I was a more middle of the road dem BEFORE I came on board lol. Thinking I might be a little more left than I even thought. Not apologizing for that, just admitting it is all. And to be honest, I've been reading your posts between you and Confluence and find them informational. I would like to veer off into different threads, but I admit my gun views (assault weapons only, not all guns) probably won't go over well, so I'm probably best to stay clear.

You know, I think it is great that you have that sort of faith in our government institutions and the people that work in them. I hate that I don't, but I just see too much **** that is a double standard, hypocritical and just plain biased. The one that sticks out is the kid that took a selfie on a submarine and was sentenced to two years in prison but Trump I think let him off. Hillary Clinton, Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills all transmitted and received classified information over an unclassified network, stored classified material on an unsecure server that they didn't have control of, and they were given immunity and allowed to destroy the hard drives on their lap tops. Nothing. Nada. The double standard kills me.

I have said it before, and I will say it again. If Trump is guilty of a crime, hang the ************. Just make sure you are hanging everyone else too, because if Trump is guilty he surely isn't alone. I know it will likely empty out our government, but we are due for an enema anyway.

Actually that would be the electoral college, but that's a whole different kind of ****** up.

I am not sure how I missed this. Could you please explain why you find fault in the Electoral College? I mean based on your post, I am assuming you don't like it, but maybe I am misinterpreting. Please. Explain.

Lol, this was a response to a post I admit I misread. I believe it was Indysteel who said he didn't know there were 2 that ****** up. I read that to mean 2 that ****** up who didn't vote trump. Wrong sense of "that". That was also me automatically putting up my defenses of being condemned for my choice of vote. But to answer your question, I understand the need for the electoral college, I just don't agree with it. Not just now either with trump winning, it's for any time, so for me it doesn't have anything to do with pub/dem, I just wish there were another way for the popular vote to mean a little more than it does. Don't think there's an actual fix and no, I do NOT want California determining the outcome of elections, just wish there were another way.

The way our country is set up, we NEED the electoral college. It is the only way to ensure that everyone gets a say in the electoral process. In a democracy, the popular vote would rule the day. That is how democracies work. Majority rules. America is a representative republic, not a democracy. As such, everyone gets representation, even at the ballot box. It is a brilliant system. It prevents mob rule in the electoral process. The system ensures that you go meet and convince the little guy to vote for you, the peasants so to speak.

And the popular vote does count for something. Just not on a national scale. The popular vote winner in a particular state wins that state and the delegates that come with it. That is why states with smaller populations get fewer delegates.

The problem, in my opinion, is when the news media purposefully conflates the two. The national popular vote has nothing to do with winning the presidency, and it just creates a greater divide in this country when it gets represented that a person got "cheated."

The electoral college is very necessary. Without it, California and New York would choose the president every time. The electoral college is what ensure you get to have your say too.

And I agree with you. That's why I said I wish it could be fixed, not abolished completely. It is necessary and I wouldn't want California/New York to represent me personally. I agree about the divide too. I can remember this with W. as well, but I don't remember being such an issue. Maybe it's the general disdain for trump that caused it to be more of an issue, not sure. I also don't want to come across as one of the Hillary voters that are upset of the loss. I accepted that the day after the election, so it has nothing to do with winning/losing since I don't always vote dem automatically...depends on my choices at the time. I remember when Al Gore demanded a recount, and I was turned off by that just wanting him to accept defeat and move on. In my opinion, I just wish the delegates weren't always the final say, but again I say I understand the need for it and know there's truly no other way, I just will always have that part of me that disagrees with it. Again I can't say it enough times, this is just me and my views.

Well then apparently I missed it. Since I don't spend every second of everyday here I must have missed it. Last I looked he was banned, but the posts of his I did read didn't come across racist. He may have come across with a little more strong language than I do to others who I don't see eye to eye politically with, but figured he was just throwing back what he was receiving. I do like the endearing tone of being a ************ though, very welcoming, much appreciated.

yeah, apparently you did miss it. There was a long thread where the elf was told to cease his racist antics. No, it was not "throwing back what ze was receiving," either, nor was it coming "across with a little more strong language". It was just short the hair on a cricket's *** from dropping the "N" bomb. Ze was given numerous instances to stop. Ze refused, and in fact, ze increased his rhetoric saying ze would do what ze wanted.

as for not being here "every second of everyday," you've made quite a prolific presence the past few days. learn how to use the Search feature before assuming. Pro Tip: the Search field is at the top of the screen.

and if you still do not see why ze was banned, then you may find yourself on the same joyride through the board as ze. Especially for someone who's been on the board since 2014, you should know that there is a LOT of leeway given to language on the political side.

The last election showed exactly WHY we have an Electoral College. Hildebeast thought she could win with the coastal blue states plus IL and hardly campaigned in the swing states, or at least misread the tea leaves, like PA hasn't gone GOP since 1988. The system, as we see, forces candidates to appeal to more than a single similar set of states. Hildebeast hardly campaigned in PA, WI, and MI, and lost all those states. Of course that's also hard for her to do because relating to normal middle-class Americans isn't something she does well. When she goes to places like OH and WV she talks with gusto about how she's going to put coal companies and coal miners out of business.

The job title is President of the United States because it is voted on by the United States. It is not called President of the People. However the offices of President and Vice President are the only elected offices that cover the entire country so there is some logic in the process being different.

Gotcha. No worries, my prolific presence is obviously temporary. Don't have to tell this ************ twice.

The only problem I'd have with the electoral college, is if electors voted in opposition to that state's popular vote. Fortunately, that didn't happen this past election and the constitutional voting rights of the people were upheld.

I hear you Sarge, and like you, I am all about due process. I have a lot of friends and family that work for the government. My best friend is CIA, his dad held the highest position a civilian can hold at the Pentagon, I have 2 close college friends that both work as government contractors in intelligence (one runs his own firm). Another good friend in DARPA, 2 at NSA, and my brother in law is a marine reservist and US Marshall. They all have varying political affiliations, but not once has any of them said that they or anyone they know are driven by their political affiliations to do their jobs. They are given tasks or investigations from the top, then execute. As investigations expand, more people are brought in to work on it, because they require a lot of man hours.

When you are busy doing the minutiae of your job, and making sure you do it to the fullest of your ability, there is no time to even think of political manipulation. Plus if you did, you'd be out of a job. It's why I hold intelligence to a higher standard than the rest of the government, because getting your party elected doesn't enter into their minds unless it's voting day and they're pulling a lever.

WAR! Fire Mueller

In major shift, GOP-controlled panel moves to protect Mueller
http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/...gop-controlled-panel-moves-to-protect-mueller

The Senate Judiciary Committee is poised to move forward with legislation to protect special counsel Robert Mueller, a significant shift that comes amid growing pressure from Democrats.

Some Republicans sought to hit the brakes on the bill, but the decision from committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) shows there is a growing appetite among some in the GOP for a legislative response to President Trump’s apparent willingness to fire the man leading the Justice Department’s investigation into Russia's election meddling.

Just a day earlier, Senate Republicans warned Trump not to take any action against Mueller, saying it would be disastrous. Grassley, in some of the strongest comments from the caucus, said it would be “suicide.”

In fact, if they pass this, they'll actually help prolong Trump's presidency. If he's allowed to listen to the hacks at breitbart/Fox and do a wack job on Mueller, he can start packing his bags.

You know what's funny, the only people I hear talking about Trump firing Mueller are leftists. Whether it is the opinion news shows or the average person on the street, always leftists. I think you guys want him to do it, because it likely leads to impeachment. To me, this is like when they were going on and on about the 25th Amendment. Then it was Stormy Daniels. Now it is fire Mueller. Can't wait to see what they come up with next.

LOL, then you're not paying too much attention to right-wing media

While Fox News figures push Trump to fire Rosenstein and Mueller, Fox & Friends blames "the media"

Here are plenty of specific examples w video > https://www.mediamatters.org/blog/2...n-and-mueller-fox-friends-blames-media/219910

These clips show only a fraction of the times that Fox News figures have denounced what Pete Hegseth called the “special impeachment counsel,” attacks that carry weight with Trump. Jarrett and Hannity (a friend of Trump’s who also advises him) called for Mueller to be fired at least 39 times in June 2017 -- the same month that Trump actually did attempt to fire Mueller. And between May and December, Hannity and his guests questioned Mueller's legitimacy at least 79 times and claimed he and his team have conflicts of interest over 364 times.

In addition to making specific attacks against officials involved in the investigation, Fox personalities actively support the conspiratorial mindset that “the deep state” is in the midst of “what essentially amounts to a coup d’etat” against Trump, and that “it may be time to declare war outright” against the government employees that Fox perceives as the president’s enemies.

we should listen to the children, right?
wasn't that what you idiots on the left were saying a couple weeks ago?

https://www.mrctv.org/blog/parkland-victims-brother-slams-fbi-their-out-whack-priorities

Sometimes the truth hurts. And unfortunately, this would be one of those times.

Parkland shooting victim Meadow Pollack's brother, Hunter Pollack, blasted the FBI in a tweet Monday for their shortsightedness when it comes to the agency’s priorities, slamming the agency for failing to protect his sister and fellow classmates while still finding plenty of time to go after evidence of an alleged affair with a porn star.

Most of those if not all were NOT calling on Trump to end the investigation but on Congress or the DOJ itself. There is a big difference between those Tibs. Try listening to what is actually being said not what you think or want to hear. Rush is fully against Trump firing Mueller that does not mean he does not think he shouldn't be.

I can't get this song out of my head every time I read the title of this thread.

You're welcome!

Well, obviously I don't watch FoxNews. Full of the same garbage as CNN, MSNBC and the rest of them.

Try One America News network. They just give you news with very little opinion.
