We don’t have insurance right now, so hubs is relying on the Novartin they sell at Wal Mart for 25 bucks a vial. He had been on Tresiba. But this new insulin has ****** his system up. It’s all we can afford. Or COULD afford. I am scared of what the price is going to be now.
About a year ago I had to get the Novalin 70/30 pens from Walmart for a while. It works a little different and I had to take two shots a day instead of one, so twice as much, but it worked okay.
Yeah that’s what he’s dealing with as well. The Tresiba was a longer lasting insulin so his sugar was well maintained. Now it’s up and down all day and it’s hard to watch. Hopefully- getting this thread back on track- this insulin freeze gets enough blow back from people and it’s rescinded. The. Again- what has Joe done so far to help out America??
Lantus and Levemir as you know are daily basal (long acting) insulins that transformed the lives of diabetics, enabling a steady state glucose level. Tresiba is even longer lasting. The shorter acting insulins will work, but like you say, require multiple doses, more testing, and a greater fluctuation in glucose levels.
I had patients on Medicare that would fall into their donut hole by March, requiring them to pay out of pocket prices based on the average wholesale price of the drug (another subject entirely). If I remember correctly 5 pens of Lantus would run over $500, and that was over 2 years ago.
There is no chronic disease state more economically devastating than diabetes. Mr. Biden should be ashamed of himself.

Biden removes Trump order protecting US power grid from China
President Joe Biden has rescinded a Trump administration protection of the United State's power grid from foreign adversaries, through one of his several executive orders signed shortly after entering office.
The executive order responsible aims at carrying out the key parts of Biden's environmental agenda.
Section 7, subsection C of the order suspends a Trump administration executive order for 90 days, called "Securing the United States Bulk-Power System", passed in May 2020 to protect the U.S. power grid from foreign access.
"The following actions are prohibited: any acquisition, importation, transfer, or installation of any bulkpower system electric equipment," by persons or parties who may pose "an undue risk of sabotage to or subversion of the design, integrity, manufacturing, production, distribution, installation, operation,
or maintenance of the bulk-power system in the United States," the Trump administration order reads.
The measure was taken to ensure that the U.S. defense power grid was not exposed to enemies of the U.S. who could exploit an opening in access to hurt the nation.
Biden's new executive order puts this protection on hold for the next 90 days.
"Executive Order 13920 of May 1, 2020 (Securing the United States Bulk-Power System), is hereby suspended for 90 days, the order reads.
"The Secretary of Energy and the Director of OMB shall jointly consider whether to recommend that a replacement order be issued," it continues.
As Biden's order states, the director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Neera Tanden, will be in charge of replacing Trump's order after the 90 day period.
Tanden is the president and CEO of left-wing think tank the Center for American Progress (CAP), which was closely entangled with the Obama administration, according to the Washington Post. Since 2009, CAP has reportedly sent delegations to China as part of a USEF program, the National Pulse reports.
Biden's son Hunter also has alleged corrupt foreign business ties to China, which prompted an FBI investigation in 2018 into his foreign dealings and taxes.

The fiasco involving the Democrats' misuse of the National Guard just keeps expanding.
According to the Washington Examiner's Tim Carney:
National Guard troops stationed at the Capitol famously have had to nap on the building's marble floors, but that's not the worst thing about their working conditions. The food is. The reason: The National Guard Bureau hired a food contractor to feed the troops, but the contractor simply messed up.
The fare, it turns out, was junk food, which one Guardsman's wife called "toddler snacks." One example, from Carney, whose story has all the miserable proof in the pictures:
The ultimate blame lies with in the Democrats, who in their hysterical call to pull together so many in the National Guard, more than are defending Iraq and Afghanistan, and far more than they needed, opened the door to this fiasco. First it was the questioning of Guard loyalty and professionalism. Then it was the garage floor. Now it's the toddler snacks. They wanted a show of troops as a means to falsely claim that they are in danger from "terrorist" conservatives, yet they managed only to show their contempt for the military. All for their own self-aggrandizement, no less.
