Scandal-rama: Figures tied to past controversies increasingly land jobs on Team Biden

From Peter Strzok's wife to key figure in Clinton email scandal, the names keep piling up to Republicans dismay.

Jake Sullivan was one of the most prolific users of Hillary Clinton's forbidden email server. Now he's Joe Biden's national security adviser.

Undersecretary of State Victoria Nuland previously had ties to Christopher Steele in the Russia scandal.

White House domestic adviser Susan Rice once falsely declared the Benghazi terror attack was provoked by an anti-Muslim video and later wrote the famously curious did-it-by-the-books email in the Russia scandal during her last minutes in he Obama administration.

And top Securities and Exchange Commission enforcement official Melissa Hodgman is married to Peter Strzok, the fired FBI agent who supervised the discredited Crossfire Hurricane probe into Russia-Trump collusion.

As Biden fills out his team, the list of people tied to past scandals and controversy keeps getting bigger And the pattern has some prominent Republicans taking note.

"If you look at the larger picture, the Russia hoaxers, the people that were pushing this out from the very beginning and lying about it after the fact, they're all at the top echelons of the Biden administration," former House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) said Sunday.

During an appearance on Fox News' Sunday show hosted by Maria Bartiromo, Nunes took issue with Hodgman's appointment as acting chief of the SEC enforcement division, saying while she "could be a great public servant," it created the appearance of a Democratic payback to her husband for pursuing Trump.

"Looks like Peter Strozk is actually going to get reimbursed for all of his troubles," Nunes said. "The guy lost his job, but nothing's happened to him at this point."

Hodgman has worked her way up the career SEC enforcement staff over the last 12 years and praised her staff after her appointment was announced.

"I am constantly inspired by the dedication of my colleagues in the Division and across the Commission, especially with the challenges of the last year," she said. "I look forward to continuing my work with them in the role of Acting Director and supporting the Commission's mission."

The Deep State comes back. This is why we need to cut every area of the budget by 40% and get rid of all the alphabet agencies.

Best of the Best, right?

Might explain why they want everyone stoned all the time.

Here ya go. Just thought I'd go ahead and throw HR 127 into this mix. They are coming after guns and ammo too, although it isn't any surprise. I don't know what the tipping point is, but I'd think we're getting close. At least to a protest. Aren't we?

That proposed legislation is horseshit. Unconstitutional horseshit. I have to undergo a psychological examination before I can be authorized to purchase a firearm? Oh **** off. And if I am forced to do so, then the government has to pay for it, as is true with other mandates for the exercise of a constitutionally protected right.

And I have to pay $800 to the state for each firearm I own for "insurance"? Go **** yourself. I buy my own insurance. Government would **** up this insurance as surely as night follows day.

Oh, and according to the stupid ******* proposed law, "(2) (A) It shall be unlawful for any person to possess a large capacity ammunition feeding device. ... (31) The term ‘large capacity ammunition feeding device’ means a magazine, belt, drum, feed strip, or similar device that has a capacity of, or that can be readily restored or converted to accept, more than 10 rounds of ammunition, but does not include an attached tubular device designed to accept, and capable of operating only with, .22 caliber rimfire ammunition.”

Ten ******* rounds? Goddamn stupid *************, the standard ******* magazine on a semi-automatic is 15 rounds for 9mm and 12 rounds for .45 ACP. Or so my neighbor tells me.

So standard, basic semi-automatics (9mm, .45 ACP, .40, 10mm) - every Glock 17, Glock 19, Glock 20, ,Glock 21, Glock 22, Walther PPQ, Heckler & Koch VP9, Heckler & Koch P30SK, Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0, SIG Sauer P320, Beretta 92FS, CZ Shadow 2, Wilson Combat X9L, and on and on - is now ******* illegal? And owning one makes me a felon, subject to a $75,000 fine and up to 25 years in jail??

Hey, politicians, you first. Send all the guards home. Get rid of your well-armed security. Until then, **** off.

Oh, and the endless whining about "military style weapons." Hey, dumbfuck politicians, civilians DON'T ******* own "military style weapons," since they can't own automatic weapons (exceptions for licensed firearm dealers). So fine, I agree - no automatic weapons to civilians. Feel better? Of course not, since those dumbfucks believe that the military carry semi-automatics only. Idiots. So what are "military style weapons" according to a group of dumbfucks who wouldn't know which end to point at the bad guys and who think men should compete against women in sports and that a person with balls and a **** can claim to be a woman?

(30) The term ‘military-style weapon’ means—

(A) any of the firearms, or copies or duplicates of the firearms in any caliber, known as—

(i) Norinco, Mitchell, and Poly Technologies Avtomat Kalashnikovs (all models);
(ii) Action Arms Israeli Military Industries UZI and Galil;
(iii) Beretta Ar70 (SC–70);
(iv) Colt AR–15;
(v) Fabrique National FN/FAL, FN/LAR, and FNC;
(vi) SWD M–10, M–11, M–11/9, and M–12;
(vii) Steyr AUG;
(viii) INTRATEC TEC–9, TEC–DC9 and TEC–22; and
(ix) revolving cylinder shotguns, such as (or similar to) the Street Sweeper and Striker 12;

(B) a semiautomatic rifle that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least 2 of—

(i) a folding or telescoping stock;
(ii) a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon;
(iii) a bayonet mount;
(iv) a flash suppressor or threaded barrel designed to accommodate a flash suppressor; and
(v) a grenade launcher;

(C) A semiautomatic pistol that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least 2 of—
(i) an ammunition magazine that attaches to the pistol outside of the pistol grip;
(ii) a threaded barrel capable of accepting a barrel extender, flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer;
(iii) a shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel and that permits the shooter to hold the firearm with the nontrigger hand without being burned;
(iv) a manufactured weight of 50 ounces or more when the pistol is unloaded; and
(v) a semiautomatic version of an automatic firearm; and
(D) a semiautomatic shotgun that has at least 2 of—
(i) a folding or telescoping stock;
(ii) a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon;
(iii) a fixed magazine capacity in excess of 5 rounds; and
(iv) an ability to accept a detachable magazine.”

The folding or telescoping stock is meant to make the rifle easier to put into a protective case or sleeve. The pistol grip is meant to increase accuracy, particularly for those not particularly experienced with firearms. Neither attribute makes the rifle a "military weapon."

Stupid politicians doing incredibly stupid things. **** those cocksuckers. Neighbor says if they pass this bullshit legislation, he will not be able to go to the firing range any more and instead will do his shooting out in the desert, with nobody around.

Won't that ******* be safer.

Finally, the legislation does not say one ******* word about what is to be done with legal firearms lawfully acquired that are now made illegal, such as basically every out-of-the-box 9mm, 10mm, .40 and .45 semi sold the past 30 years. Neighbor spent decent money on pistols affected - I guess government can now just steal those legal items from him?

**** off. Go **** yourselves, politicians.

GO.
****.
YOURSELVES.
YOU.
FIRST.

Just saw that Biden is going to sign 3 more executive orders today. CNN is rejoicing.

Just saw that Biden is going to sign 3 more executive orders today. CNN is rejoicing.

Who needs a congress &senate? Just rule by dictatorship and let them fight you in court when they disagree with your constitutionally illegal executive actions.

**** may as well. They don't care. Hell ******* are trying to impeach a private citizen.

Calling this administration crooked and full of criminals...well it fits the bill. Gosh, I wonder if this means Hunter will face no penalty for his crimes? I'm taking bets.

New DOJ hire is former colleague of Hunter Biden defense attorney

Acting Assistant Attorney General Nicholas McQuaid has worked on the same cases as Biden defense attorney

The newly selected acting head of the Justice Department's criminal division is a former colleague of the attorney now representing Hunter Biden in the face of a DOJ investigation.

Nicholas McQuaid joined the DOJ in January after spending the past several years as a partner in the New York office of law firm Latham & Watkins. Also a partner in that office is Christopher Clark, who was reported by Law.com in December to be representing the president's son.

"They worked on the same cases right up until McQuaid took the job at the Department of Justice," said Fox News' Tucker Carlson, who first reported the news.

Court records show that McQuaid and Clark worked on some of the same cases. Fox News' "Tucker Carlson Tonight" reported Friday that on Jan. 21, Latham & Watkins filed a motion to withdraw McQuaid from a case Clark had been working on. According to the Justice Department, McQuaid was named as the head of the criminal division on Jan. 20.

"So that means Joe Biden put at the head of the criminal division the partner of the guy his son had hired to defend him against the criminal division," Carlson said.

Fox News asked Latham & Watkins and Clark if McQuaid was ever involved in the firm's work on Biden's behalf, but no one at the firm immediately responded.

Now, as principal deputy assistant attorney general and named acting assistant attorney general for the criminal division, McQuaid will be overseeing criminal investigations, including any probe into the president's son. The Justice Department declined to comment on whether McQuaid will recuse himself from the investigation into Hunter Biden.

McQuaid's role leading the criminal division is temporary, as the president must nominate a permanent head of the division who would require confirmation by the Senate.

GOP lawmaker: 'Legitimate conversations' taking place about taxing the amount of miles you drive
The incoming transportation secretary has floated the idea of a Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) system that would charge drivers for the number of miles they travel.

New York Republican Rep. Tom Reed, co-chair of the House Problem Solvers Caucus, said there are "legitimate conversations" taking place among members of Congress about implementing a Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) system that would charge drivers for the number of miles they travel as a way to fund a large-scale infrastructure bill.

The incoming Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg floated the idea of a VMT system last week as the Biden administration prepares infrastructure legislation valued at about $1 trillion.

"In the long term, we need to bear in mind also that as vehicles become more efficient and as we pursue electrification, sooner or later, there will be questions about whether the gas tax can be effective at all," Buttigieg said.

Reed, a member of the Ways and Means Committee, was asked if he thinks taxes will go up to pay for a $1 trillion infrastructure bill.

"There's an appetite on the left for the fair-share argument and raising revenue, so I think that's going to be part of the conversation," Reed said during a discussion organized by the Economic Club of Washington. "The gas tax, I still don't see a gas tax increase on the horizon, maybe an inflationary raise there, that could be something that maybe gets folks together, but there's other revenue increases that are out there."

"You've got to think infrastructure over the horizon," Reed continued, "as we go to driverless cars, VMT, vehicle miles traveled, the whole electronic vehicle, how you're going to do a user fee based on that model. There's some legitimate conversations going on about how to take care of that revenue that could be included in the conversation."

President Joe Biden has proposed a $1.9 trillion coronavirus stimulus bill that includes $1,400 direct payments for Americans, more small business relief funds, additional federal unemployment insurance funding and other provisions.

Michigan Democratic Rep. Debbie Dingell, a member of the Energy and Commerce Committee, said infrastructure would likely be the next issue the Democratic-led Congress would tackle after passing another coronavirus stimulus bill first.

"We've needed one for a very long time," Dingell said. "It will be a broad infrastructure bill. Not only — I'll quote my governor [Gretchen Wilson] — will it fix the damn roads, excuse my language, but that is her saying, and bridges, but we need broadband. I mean, COVID has just shined a light on the disparity of broadband in urban and rural areas. We need to fix our broken pipes and infrastructure for the environment."

Dingell added that the U.S. should "build out an electric vehicle infrastructure" and rebuild public schools as part of a large-scale infrastructure bill.

Reed predicted that a $1 trillion infrastructure bill would get "broad bipartisan support" in Congress."Learn a lesson from Republicans," he said. "We led with health care when President Trump came in; wrong path to take. Infrastructure heals the wounds, brings the country together, and the roadmap is already there."

here's a radical idea, and i dont expect the most geniuses in DC to let this penetrate their intellectual radar...

instead of imposing a VMT tax which would then double the taxes for those of us who use gasoline powered vehicles, why not just impose a tax on the electric "pumps" for those incredibly earth-conscious green zero-emission vehicles?

I’ll just put this here. Any room in FL? Or too many Orges?

We always have room for Ogres. It's the nitwits fleeing their failed socialist utopia taxed to death hell holes we don't want. Well not if you're going to vote for the same bullshit you left.

Longest-Serving Woman in Congress Says She Feels Increasingly Alienated in Democratic Party

The longest-serving woman in Congress, Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio), told The Hill in a recent interview that she struggles with a growing sense of alienation within the Democratic Party as she fights for the interests of her largely working-class Midwest constituents while the Democrat Party is increasingly dominated by representatives from wealthy, often coastal districts.

“They just can’t understand,” Kaptur told the outlet, referring to the difficulty some of her Democrat colleagues have in relating to the concerns of blue-collar constituents like hers.

“They can’t understand a family that sticks together because that’s what they have. Their loved ones are what they have, their little town, their home, as humble as it is—that’s what they have.”

Kaptur told the outlet she worries that the voices of congressional Democrats who represent wealthy districts are increasingly drowning out those who represent heartland districts.

“It’s been very hard for regions like mine, which have had great economic attrition, to get fair standing, in my opinion,” Kaptur said, adding that, as a Democrat who represents a working-class district, she feels like a minority within her party.

In the interview, Kaptur touched on congressional district data showing that 19 out 20 of the nation’s wealthiest districts are represented by Democrats.

“Several of my colleagues who are in the top ranks have said to me, ‘You know, we don’t understand your part of the country.’ And they’re very genuine,” Kaptur said. “You can’t understand what you haven’t been a part of.”

The idea that Democrats are losing touch with their blue-collar roots and are increasingly turning into the party of the elites while Republicans are on track to becoming a multiethnic working-class coalition was an oft-repeated theme in the wake of the 2020 election.

In his first remarks following the November election, in which the GOP defied expectations and made gains in the House, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said, “This election cycle has made one thing clear: The Republican Party is now the party of the American worker.”

The 2020 election results, in general, reinforced the view that the Republican Party is poised to become a multiethnic coalition of working-class voters. In the presidential race, for instance, former President Donald Trump won the largest share of nonwhite voters, a traditionally Democrat demographic, of any Republican since 1960.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) commented on the fact that Trump won Zapata County, in Texas, by a margin of 52–47 percent in 2020, while he lost that same county to Hilary Clinton in 2016 by a margin of 65–32 percent.

“#Florida & the Rio Grande Valley showed the future of the GOP: A party built on a multi-ethnic multi-racial coalition of working AMERICANS,” Rubio wrote in a tweet.
