Britain Backs Trump On Iran, Deploys Royal Navy To Persian Gulf

The United Kingdom defended the actions of the Trump administration in Iran, saying the United States is “entitled to defend itself” against Iranian aggression and deploying the Royal Navy to the Persian Gulf to protect shipping vessels flying the British flag.

The Secretary of State for Defence, Ben Wallace, expressed support for America’s decision to take out Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander Qasem Soleimani, citing the violence committed in Iraq by Iran-backed militias.

“During the last few months U.S. forces in Iraq, who are based in Iraq at the invitation of the Iraqi government, have been repeatedly attacked by Iranian-backed militia”, Wallace said

“General Soleimani has been at the heart of the use of proxies to undermine neighbouring sovereign nations and target Iran’s enemies. Under international law the United States is entitled to defend itself against those posing an imminent threat to their citizens”, the Defence Secretary concluded.

Now, will other countries, like Japan, send warships to protect their tankers as well?

The Whistleblower coup attempt comes from the intel community -- the same people that Schumer warned Trump have "six ways to Sunday of getting back at you." These images come from the same bowels of the National Security State. Half of what you see none of what you hear comes to mind.

Look, if things are 100% what they appear, GO TRUMP! However, if Trump got outsized intel on what was "imminent" then we can bet this was brought to the forefront by the National Security State for political blowback toward Trump in an Election Year. Only naivete would fail to question the gatekeepers and reduce this to "good vs evil" checkers when plays are thought out moves in advance.

Six Ways to Sunday.

Six Ways to Sunday.

You're talking about the same 6 ways from Sunday bunch that just had their collective balls squeezed in an attempted coup d'etat. Fool me once, shame on you... won't happen again. I feel pretty certain DJT knows the lay of the land and who to trust at this point.

I think there are only 2/3 ways to Sunday left unused, and one of them got Kennedy.
Folks need to be careful here, because too much emotion has shortened the fuse.

"GOP senators move to dismiss articles of impeachment due to delays"

Lololololol

Stampede during Soleimani’s funeral procession kills at least 35, state TV reports

At least 35 people were killed and another 48 injured in a stampede Tuesday that broke out during a funeral procession for the Iranian general killed last week in a U.S.-led airstrike, according to Iranian state media.

The incident occurred in Gen. Qassem Soleimani's hometown of Kerman, in southeastern Iran, according to Iran's state media. The report quoted the head of Iran's emergency medical services, Pirhossein Koulivand, according to the Associated Press.

McConnell Has the Votes to Block Pelosi’s Witness Demands on Impeachment

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has been playing this game that she wouldn’t turn over the articles of impeachment to the Senate unless they agree to witnesses that the Democrats want to have in a Senate trial. Whether or not Pelosi really wants to move along the articles is a question.

But now the Republicans are calling her bluff anyway. McConnell had already told her that he wasn’t going to comply with her request.

Now the word is he has the votes behind him to proceed with the trial without agreeing to anything with Pelosi. They would decide on witnesses only after the articles are turning over and only after hearing the House Democrats and then the White House present their respective cases, and not before, in accordance with the Clinton model.

The people who Democrats would have needed, Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) are reportedly siding with McConnell on sticking to the Clinton model of the process.

This basically kills any hope that Pelosi or Schumer had because they would need those two plus more to get a vote to require witnesses before they proceeded.

This puts the ball back in Pelosi’s court to either come across with the articles or be seen as the one blocking the constitutional process. And the Senate Republicans might also bypass her, as House Judiciary Chair Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has threatened, if she doesn’t come across with the articles

Well for Biden it's not that big of a step. Seems he and Bathhouse Barry already were somewhat pals with this guy that Trump whacked and all the rest of them Iranians too.

During Obama Years, Biden Reportedly Helped Soleimani, Iran Gain More Power in Middle East

Iraq became a puppet state of Iran in large part because of Biden and Obama’s refusal to back a pro-American leader, mostly because they didn’t want to deal with any potential trouble they might have encountered from continued Iranian-backed resistance from the Soleimani-organized Shiite militias.

Bear in mind also that all of this was occurring while the Obama administration was secretly negotiating the eventual Iran nuclear deal. Staying in Iraq and supporting a pro-America Iraqi leader would undoubtedly have made those negotiations far more difficult, if not impossible to advance to a conclusion.

In other words, this alleged instance of Biden and Obama bowing to the whims of the Iranian regime is but one example of many of how the last administration ceded influence and power to Iran.

Now that Iran has tacitly taken over Iraq, thanks in part to Biden and Obama, Biden wants to complain about how Trump has taken action to reduce that influence and power and protect our nation’s substantial investment in Iraq.

Don’t think for one moment that Trump will let this pass if Biden ultimately wins his party’s nomination in 2020, as what Biden and Obama did — and more to the point, did not do — in Iraq will become a weapon in Trump’s favor to be used against the former vice president.

In an American Thinker article today, they explained the problems the Dems are creating for themselves by denouncing this hit.

Rise of the Democrat 'But' Warriors
By Fletch Daniels

This past week saw the rise of the Democrat "but" warriors. Every viable remaining presidential candidate, with the exception of Bernie Sanders, included an identical sentence construct in response to President Donald Trump's decision to erase the world's worst terrorist leader.

When "but" is employed in a sentence, particularly a political one, the wise course of action is to pay little heed to what came before it. The writer's true feelings are reflected in what follows, even if he is not quite bold enough not to include a caveat.

For all intents and purposes, Iran was already at war with the U.S. in Iraq, and Soleimani was leading it. Considering he had the blood of hundreds of Americans on his hand, the real question is why the U.S. or Israeli did not take him out earlier. If reports are to be believed, President Obama actually stopped an Israeli plan to take out this murderous monster by tipping off the Iranians back in 2015.

Leaving aside that the operation was clearly legal, the Democrats are no longer to be trusted on national security. If you believe that informing the Schiffty Democrats would not have seriously risked the operation, I have a wonderful tract of feces-free oceanfront property in Nancy Pelosi's San Francisco district to sell you.

Count me among those who suspect that Iran's response will be careful and calculated, in the same way a disciplined child might stick his tongue out behind his parents' backs but wouldn't dare act openly with the sting of the punishment still at the forefront of his mind. Iran may retaliate against non-U.S. targets in the same way that same disciplined kid might take out his frustration at his punishment on a younger sibling, a far less threatening target.

The most important observation came from the president himself.

"We took action last night to stop a war. We did not take action to start a war," he said.

Don't count on the "but" warriors to understand this, since they have eyes for only one enemy, and he is not an Iranian mass murderer bent on killing Americans. To paraphrase the man who has been on the wrong side of nearly every foreign policy decision of the last half-century, putting Democrats back in charge would be like tossing a stick of dynamite into a tinderbox.

The White House
Office of the Press Secretary
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 8, 2020
REMARKS BY PRESIDENT TRUMP
ON IRAN
Grand Foyer
11:28 A.M. EST

THE PRESIDENT: As long as I am President of the United States, Iran will never be allowed to have a nuclear weapon.

Good morning. I'm pleased to inform you: The American people should be extremely grateful and happy no Americans were harmed in last night’s attack by the Iranian regime. We suffered no casualties, all of our soldiers are safe, and only minimal damage was sustained at our military bases.

Our great American forces are prepared for anything. Iran appears to be standing down, which is a good thing for all parties concerned and a very good thing for the world. No American or Iraqi lives were lost because of the precautions taken, the dispersal of forces, and an early warning system that worked very well. I salute the incredible skill and courage of America’s men and women in uniform.

For far too long -- all the way back to 1979, to be exact -- nations have tolerated Iran’s destructive and destabilizing behavior in the Middle East and beyond. Those days are over. Iran has been the leading sponsor of terrorism, and their pursuit of nuclear weapons threatens the civilized world. We will never let that happen.

Last week, we took decisive action to stop a ruthless terrorist from threatening American lives. At my direction, the United States military eliminated the world’s top terrorist, Qasem Soleimani. As the head of the Quds Force, Soleimani was personally responsible for some of the absolutely worst atrocities.

He trained terrorist armies, including Hezbollah, launching terrorist strikes against civilian targets. He fueled bloody civil wars all across the region. He viciously wounded and murdered thousands of U.S. troops, including the planting of roadside bombs that maim and dismember their victims.

Soleimani directed the recent attacks on U.S. personnel in Iraq that badly wounded four service members and killed one American, and he orchestrated the violent assault on the U.S. embassy in Baghdad. In recent days, he was planning new attacks on American targets, but we stopped him.

Soleimani’s hands were drenched in both American and Iranian blood. He should have been terminated long ago. By removing Soleimani, we have sent a powerful message to terrorists: If you value your own life, you will not threaten the lives of our people.

As we continue to evaluate options in response to Iranian aggression, the United States will immediately impose additional punishing economic sanctions on the Iranian regime. These powerful sanctions will remain until Iran changes its behavior.

In recent months alone, Iran has seized ships in international waters, fired an unprovoked strike on Saudi Arabia, and shot down two U.S. drones.

Iran’s hostilities substantially increased after the foolish Iran nuclear deal was signed in 2013, and they were given $150 billion, not to mention $1.8 billion in cash. Instead of saying "thank you" to the United States, they chanted "death to America." In fact, they chanted "death to America" the day the agreement was signed.

Then, Iran went on a terror spree, funded by the money from the deal, and created hell in Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Afghanistan, and Iraq. The missiles fired last night at us and our allies were paid for with the funds made available by the last administration. The regime also greatly tightened the reins on their own country, even recently killing 1,500 people at the many protests that are taking place all throughout Iran.

The very defective JCPOA expires shortly anyway, and gives Iran a clear and quick path to nuclear breakout. Iran must abandon its nuclear ambitions and end its support for terrorism. The time has come for the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Russia, and China to recognize this reality.

They must now break away from the remnants of the Iran deal -– or JCPOA –- and we must all work together toward making a deal with Iran that makes the world a safer and more peaceful place. We must also make a deal that allows Iran to thrive and prosper, and take advantage of its enormous untapped potential. Iran can be a great country.

Peace and stability cannot prevail in the Middle East as long as Iran continues to foment violence, unrest, hatred, and war. The civilized world must send a clear and unified message to the Iranian regime: Your campaign of terror, murder, mayhem will not be tolerated any longer. It will not be allowed to go forward.

Today, I am going to ask NATO to become much more involved in the Middle East process. Over the last three years, under my leadership, our economy is stronger than ever before and America has achieved energy independence. These historic [DEL: accompliments :DEL] [accomplishments] changed our strategic priorities. These are accomplishments that nobody thought were possible. And options in the Middle East became available. We are now the number-one producer of oil and natural gas anywhere in the world. We are independent, and we do not need Middle East oil.

The American military has been completely rebuilt under my administration, at a cost of $2.5 trillion. U.S. Armed Forces are stronger than ever before. Our missiles are big, powerful, accurate, lethal, and fast. Under construction are many hypersonic missiles.

The fact that we have this great military and equipment, however, does not mean we have to use it. We do not want to use it. American strength, both military and economic, is the best deterrent.

Three months ago, after destroying 100 percent of ISIS and its territorial caliphate, we killed the savage leader of ISIS, al-Baghdadi, who was responsible for so much death, including the mass beheadings of Christians, Muslims, and all who stood in his way. He was a monster. Al-Baghdadi was trying again to rebuild the ISIS caliphate, and failed. Tens of thousands of ISIS fighters have been killed or captured during my administration. ISIS is a natural enemy of Iran. The destruction of ISIS is good for Iran, and we should work together on this and other shared priorities. Finally, to the people and leaders of Iran: We want you to have a future and a great future -- one that you deserve, one of prosperity at home, and harmony with the nations of the world. The United States is ready to embrace peace with all who seek it.

I want to thank you, and God bless America. Thank you very much. Thank you. Thank you."

------------------------------

He finished his speech, turned around and walked back into the sunlight.

Brilliant

I can assure you the military has not been completely rebuilt. Perhaps it is in progress, but it is not nearly a finished product. Most of our equipment is laboring under nearly 20 straight years of war. We need to get out of the middle east, rebuild and reset.

I had read exactly that on another site. For some reason, we know that automobiles - weighing about 1 1/2 tons and operated in very controlled, well-maintained environments - wear out after 10 years, but expect armored vehicles - weighing about 50 times as much and driven in very high heat, dirt and sand - can last forever.

Biden Calls for Plastic Bag Ban: "We should not be allowing plastic."

Trump: Faces down the Iranian threat.

Biden: Declares ban on plastic bags.

You decide, America.

I would be willing to ban plastic bags by placing them, sealed, over the heads of every (D)im politician.

Guess this should go in WINNING since the Democratic political house of cards is tumbling.

Democrats Question Pelosi Over Endless Impeachment

Pelosi's impeachment delay opens cracks in Democratic caucus

Cracks began to appear Wednesday in congressional Democrats' support for Nancy Pelosi’s prolonged delay in sending articles of impeachment to the Senate, with several lawmakers saying it's time for the House speaker to get on with it.

Rep. Jahana Hayes, D-Conn., said she voted last month to impeach President Trump over urgent concerns about his conduct and argued that handing the case over to the Senate is the right thing to do.

“I trust the speaker's judgment, but I voted on these articles when they were presented because I felt that we were at a point where it needed to happen,” said Hayes, a freshman member. “So personally, I'd like them to go forward.”

Across the Capitol, Senate Democrats began to question whether Pelosi’s delay strategy undermines their argument that Trump’s conduct warrants serious and urgent attention.

“We are reaching a point where the articles of impeachment should be sent,” Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., told reporters Wednesday.

Other senators questioned what kind of leverage Pelosi has over the Senate.

“I respect the fact that she is concerned about the fact about whether or not there will be a fair trial. But I do think it is time to get on with it,” Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del., told Politico.

Although House Democrats voted to impeach Trump on Dec. 18, Pelosi declined to promptly send the articles over to the Senate for a trial over concerns that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was coordinating with the White House and tilting the playing field -- as Democrats sought assurances that the Senate would call certain witnesses. McConnell, R-Ky., has made no such promises, insisting that the trial begin and lawmakers determine how to proceed on potential testimony later.

Several House Democrats said they are not privy to Pelosi’s strategy that led to this impasse, but they hold out hope that she can still extract concessions to allow witnesses and new evidence in a Senate trial.

“We're behind the speaker and we think that she will have the best sense of when the Senate will stop their threats of nullifying the whole process,” said Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md.

Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, D-Ill., said the delay tactic could shake loose a few GOP senators to join Democrats in allowing new evidence and witnesses.

"Certainly, I think the president does want this total absolute exoneration, in all caps, to happen, ASAP. And I think that perhaps, Mitch McConnell or four Republican senators would join with Democrats to call for a fair process," he said.

Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., said he supports Pelosi’s decision to hold onto the articles for assurances of a fair Senate trial. With the additional disclosure of documents and former National Security Adviser John Bolton stepping forward as a potential witness, the delay has opened the door for Democrats to bolster their case.

“Additional documents subsequent to the speaker's decision to hold the articles have come out. That's a gain in terms of information to the American people,” Jeffries said.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff left open the possibility that Bolton could appear before the House if the Senate does not call him.

While Hayes holds out hope that senators will keep an open mind, she doesn't think the House should call Bolton back.

“That’s not the way the process works,” Hayes said. “The House has done their part, it moves over to the Senate now.”

Court allows President Trump to use $3.6 billion in military funds to build border wall

A federal appeals court in Louisiana on Wednesday ruled the government can use $3.6 billion in military funds to construct border barriers along the U.S.-Mexico border.

In a 2-1 ruling, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, based in New Orleans, granted the administration's request for the court to stay, or temporarily halt, a ruling made last month by a federal judge in El Paso that blocked officials from using the Pentagon funds to fulfill one of President Trump's main campaign pledges.
