In his bid to regain the Senate seat he resigned to become Trump’s attorney general, Sessions faced fierce opposition from the president, who repeatedly criticized him with harsh insults and actively supported Tuberville. Tibs, I am pretty sure our intelligence agencies said that they found no credible evidence that it was true. Sure, the Russians are supporting the Taliban with money, arms and training, and they have been for years. For that matter, so is Iran. That isn't a secret. But paying specific bounties? There is no credible evidence of it.

Some of the wording of the explanation that came out early this month was tepid, at best. This from General Mark Milley:

The decision by Trump to remain completely silent on the matter - worse yet, calling it a hoax - just adds to the notion that he's soft on Putin, for reasons not yet fully understood at this time.

It's just one link in a long chain of events connected to Russia since the 2016 elections. You would think by now the US President would stand strong and push back against Putin's shenanigans. But it seems Trump has other interests in mind.

From the excerpt you posted and from what I have read in my own research of this issue, it is nothing but pure speculation. We know the Russians have been giving money to the Taliban for over a decade. Just like we gave money to the mujahideen during Russia's war in Afghanistan. Basically the NYTimes reporting is based on second and third hand information from supposed interrogations. I can't count that as reliable, but it certainly whips people into a frenzy.
You know, you guys accuse Trump of wanting to start wars when he talks tough to foreign governments. Now he isn't talking tough and that is suddenly a problem. If he made a statement similar to that, you'd be bitching he was trying to start a war. I also find it ironic that you call Milley's response tepid, yet use the second part of his response to show the strong response from the Pentagon. So was Milley tepid or strong because I am confused.
As a rule, I don't put much stock in what Trump says as much as I put in what he does. When he speaks, he is all over the place, and often does something different than what he says. SEE: "He's doing a great job." Next day-fired.
