The Official Thread Dedicated to "Trump Winning"

For example, and I'm being a bit "devil's advocate" here because talking about "News" seems to mean something different to every person I talk to, let's just look at the current top news story on Facebook, which when I link to it, connects me to a news article written by an Associated Press journalist:

http://www.nola.com/national_politics/2018/06/110_confederate_monuments_remo.html

Now the headline of this news article is this

110 Confederate Monuments Removed Since 2015

Now when you read this article, the 2nd paragraphs is all the facts. The Who, What and Where:

1. Who.... a study done by the Southern Poverty Law Center
2. What.... 110 Confederate Monuments have been removed since 2015
3. Where....Nationwide

Everything else in this article is "why". Everything else starts bordering on "opinion" and not facts anymore. Let's analyze some of the lines if I was in court during a trial and someone tried to admit as facts against my client I would object too:

1. Third paragraph, last sentence.... "compared with the more than 1700 memorials to hail the Southern "lost cause"."

I would object to this as fact. I'm not sure EVERY confederate statue hails the "lost cause". Some might just be plain old memorials or battlefield sites that talk about the loss of life (both south and north). They kind of imply in paragraph 2 that this includes "schools, roads, etc. named for confederate generals or leaders". These are memorials to hail the South's "lost cause"? Really? Couldn't they just be to remember the past?

2. By the fourth paragraph, we are now quoting an "expert" from a person at the same place that did the "study". First, he says the removal of confederate monuments wasn't widely discussed prior to 2015 Dylan Roof shooting. This isn't fact. The confederate flag removal from across the South's state capitols has been going on for decades. The quoted "expert" says this event "signifies something monumental" and created an event "finally willing to confront the past".

This paragraph is completely opinion. There are no facts in paragraph 5 at all.

Now the author goes into the divisiveness of this issue by interviewing (and perhaps instigating the reader to feel angry against the other side) by picking a hard liner that supports Confederate symbolism and is putting up monuments on private property to spite the anti-confederate monument movement. Again, all opinion, all divisiveness, all one opinion (probably presented in a positive light) vs. another opinion (probably presented in a negative light).

Now I ask everyone here.... is this "fake news"? Even if we agree to the FACTS (which is just one study by the way), from paragraphs #4 to the end of this "news" article, are there any facts at all? Any "Who, What or Where"? Or is it only "Why"?

And how is this author spinning the "Why" by who he decided to interview as the "expert opinions" on each side of the debate?

Is this "News" or is this piece "Op Ed"?

I mean, we could study news articles ad nauseam and pick them apart but I think this news article exemplifies a LOT of what is wrong with our media right now. Journalist, in the quest for eyeballs and clicks, are creating division IN THE NEWS themselves. This isn't a news article about removing confederate statues. It's using a study to CREATE an op ed piece where the author can push divisiveness. This isn't Trump doing this, this is the news media and how they present "facts" (which are very limited).

Again, this was the LEAD STORY, TOP OF THE BOARD on Facebook today about 4PM, which is a common time for workers around the east coast to check in on facebook the end of the work day.

This does matter.

Sailor Pardoned by Trump Plans to Sue Obama, Comey

Ex-Navy sailor Kristian Saucier says it was unfair to prosecute him for taking classified parts of a submarine. After all, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton didn’t get charged for her emails. Saucier announced his upcoming lawsuit over the allegedly unfair treatment in an interview with Fox News on Monday. Barack Obama was president, and James Comey was FBI Director when this former sailor pleaded guilty in 2016. They are going to be among the defendants in the complaint, said attorney Ronald Daigle.

“They interpreted the law in my case to say it was criminal, but they didn’t prosecute Hillary Clinton,” said Saucier, who was pardoned last March by President Donald Trump. “Hillary is still walking free. Two guys on my ship did the same thing and weren’t treated as criminals. We want them to correct the wrong.”

Bill Clinton: I wouldn't have done anything differently in Lewinsky scandal even in #MeToo era
Of course not. He said, "She had a mouth like a vacuum cleaner". It was worth it.

Ha ha! Trump said **** you, Eagles!

Less than 24 hours before the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles were set to visit the White House, President Donald Trump rescinded their invitation, citing national anthem protests and boycotts from some team members.

"[The Eagles] disagree with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our military and the people of our country," Trump said in a statement released Monday evening. "The Eagles wanted to send a smaller delegation, but the 1,000 fans planning to attend the event deserve better."

Trump said Eagles fans are invited to the White House "to be part of a different type of ceremony — one that will honor our great country, pay tribute to the heroes who fight to protect it, and loudly and proudly play the National Anthem."

The event, which will start at 3 p.m., is named the "Celebration of America," according to the White House schedule.

Small point of order: One shouldn't put their hand on their heart for the National Anthem. Only for the Pledge of Allegiance. Other than that, its a great statement. The players started politicizing trips to the WH.

Protocol states .......,stand, face the flag or music and place your right hand over your heart. Been that way since 1942, when the gesture replaced the Bellamy salute (look that up and you’ll understand why). It was amended in 2008 to allow Soldiers and veterans in civilian clothing to render a hand salute if they choose.

Kind of funny that Deferment Don is the expert on patriotism. He didn't think McCain was a war hero because he got captured, but I think Americans
that actually participate in military service are the heroes rather than the guys who weaseled their way out of service.

I'm just curious if you voted for Bill Clinton?

Let me grab some popcorn.

Beat me to it.
My brother-in-law served in Vietnam, in combat, with the Marines. My uncle got some strings pulled and got in the Army Reserves which greatly lessened the odds that he'd go to Vietnam, and he never did. My brother-in-law doesn't blame my uncle a bit and says "More power to ya, if you can get out, get out. Hell, no one wanted to be there."

My voting for Clinton has nothing to do with Dodger Don. Trump is making himself out to be Mr. Patriot and criticizing others who have served in the military.
Don't recall Clinton criticizing others who have served. Kind of funny that conservatives love the Commy (Russia) loving Deferment king. Trump isn't an America
first President, he's a Trump first President. A President in love with himself.

Yep. I can't remember a speech in which he either did NOT use "I" or give credit to someone other than himself.

President Trump to sign veterans health bill

President Trump is preparing to sign a sweeping new law Wednesday aimed at expanding veterans’ access to private-sector health care. But behind the scenes his administration is fighting a bipartisan Senate effort to fund the legislation.

The VA Mission Act authorizes new health care programs for veterans, but the bill does not reserve federal money to pay for those programs. A group of powerful Senate committee chairmen aims to remedy that by amending a separate measure to pay for the new $50 billion law, saying that adding the funds is the best way to ensure the new programs give veterans access to medical care. But the White House has engaged in a quiet effort to thwart the senators’ plan, encouraging lawmakers to vote it down and instead asking Congress to pay for the veterans programs by cutting spending elsewhere.

White House officials are circulating a memo on Capitol Hill this week that slams the senators’ proposal as “anathema to responsible spending” and that predicts it would lead to ballooning costs and “virtually unlimited increases” in veterans’ spending on private health care.

Manchin goes full MAGA

The vulnerable West Virginia Democrat is embracing Donald Trump, figuratively and literally: ‘We just kind of do the man-bump type thing.’

The senator, up for reelection in a state Trump won by more than 40 points, told POLITICO he isn’t ruling out endorsing Trump for reelection in 2020 — a position practically unheard of for a politician with a “D” next to his name.

“I’m open to supporting the person who I think is best for my country and my state,” Manchin said this week from the driver’s seat of his Grand Cherokee, insisting he’s game to work with any president of either party. “If his policies are best, I’ll be right there.”

Trump’s popularity in West Virginia has Republicans salivating over the prospect of knocking off the legendary 70-year-old senator and former governor this fall. In response, Manchin is sidling up to the president — his policies, his nominees, at times even Trump himself — as the independent-minded Democrat prepares for the toughest race of his career against GOP state Attorney General Patrick Morrisey

Manchin goes full MAGA

Folks in WV like Sen. Manchin, he's a friend of my dad since his days as governor and dad assures me that he is a genuinely nice guy, but party might trump that and he may very well lose. WV is no longer a Democrat state, another of Bomma's legacies.

Nope, no blue wave in California. GOP actually better poised for gains because of the Trump wave

Well, the big blue wave didn't turn out quite like Democrats thought it would.

The press is reporting they avoided panic, given that most of their candidates secured spots on the top-two on the November midterm ballot. Whoop dee doo. That's not a blue wave, and it's certainly not victory.

Instead, what we really saw were signs of Republican strength in a state written off as solid blue, with bigger-than-expected margins for the GOP that all the Trump-haters out there in the establishment could forecast. We also saw a significant rejection of Democratic Party organizational favorites, which is a sign voters are tired of their lockstep voting practices. A third thing we notice is that heavy television spenders, such as Paul Kerr and Sarah Jacobs, didn't make it. This, remember, was what Hillary Clinton did, instead of go to Wisconsin. It still fails.

With contested races, we can expect a lot more ads flooding our airwaves as the November midterms approach. We can also expect Democrats to fight hard, given that California is the linchpin of their master plan to retake Washington.

But there are more bright spots on the Republican side than the Democratic. For one thing, they have opposition, something they never expected. California, remember, is supposed to be the solidest of all blue states. Yeah, sure. And two, President Trump is popular. This election shows that he has coattails, and voters aren't ready to give up on the Trump experiment, which is actually going so well.

Three, and this is a goody, with Republicans on the ballot, it means Democrats will have to fight an issues campaign. Advantage, Republicans.

US Steel to restart second Granite City Works BF
Steel News - Published on Wed, 06 Jun 2018

United States Steel Corporation announced that it will restart the second of two blast furnaces (“A” blast furnace) at its Granite City Works, an integrated steelmaking plant in Granite City, Ill. The restart of the “A” blast furnace will support increased demand for steel manufactured in the United States, while allowing the Company to continue to support customers during planned asset revitalization efforts.

US Steel President and Chief Executive Officer David B Burritt, said “We are excited to announce that after the restart of the “A” blast furnace on or around October 1, all of the steelmaking operations at Granite City will be back on line, helping us meet an increased demand for American-made steel that has only grown since our March announcement. After careful consideration of market conditions and customer demand, including the impact of Section 232, the restart of the two blast furnaces at Granite City Works will allow us to serve our customers’ growing demand for high quality products melted and poured in the United States.”

The Company will hire around 300 new employees for the restart of blast furnace “A” that will support increased shipments beginning in the fourth quarter. In March, U. S. Steel announced the restart of Granite City Works’ blast furnace “B” and steelmaking operations that brought back 500 positions, filled by new and returning employees. The restart of blast furnace “B” is in progress.

But Bomma said those jobs aren't coming back and asked if Trump had a magic wand. He is surely the dumbest President we have ever had. The cure was simple: tax cuts, fair trade and less regulations.

With pardoned Alice Johnson shouting, 'I love you, President Trump!' - the left stews

Only on the left would we see the presidential pardon of a non-violent drug offender greeted with grumbles.

Why? Because President Trump took the initiative to get it done, hearing of the 63 year-old grandmother's plight from big-name celebrity Kim Kardashian. The left loathes Trump more than they value that woman and the cause she represents, so a good deed suddenly becomes a bad deed.

Ah, so it’s not about mercy to correct an injustice, it's just all about the Russia Russia Russia thang.

Oh, and tilt your head for this one, the Guardian helpfully adds:

"Many in the White House are reportedly dismayed that a pardon was made in this manner, particularly one that flies in the face of the general government policy on drug"

That reveals to us what’s really bothering the left. Trump is not only stealing their thunder on the cause of unjust sentences (and this one was unjust), he’s bringing a whole lot of black people into the Republican Party as a result of his correcting this wrong

Kanye West was the one who opened the gate to that reality. Black male approval of Trump doubled after Kanye came out and called Trump his “brother” and posed for a Twitter photo in a Make America Great Again hat. The left dismissed him as ‘insane.’

Guess what is going to happen to President Trump’s approval numbers in the wake of this pardon of Alice Johnson? President Trump has outsmarted the hell out of the left. No wonder they are stewing.
