I've got a semi-serious question for you guys, not sure if that's even possible on this board. How many foreign service members, diplomats, military advisors and the like do any of you know personally, or have even met, at some point in your lives? You know, people who've spent the past ten, twenty, thirty years representing our country, pursuing American foreign policy abroad.
If you've had any experience with these folks, you'd know the term 'Never Trumper' simply doesn't exist within these ranks. These people have served under Republican and Democratic presidents alike. There actually exists such a thing called American foreign policy. It doesn't blow in the wind, doesn't change every four years there's a new president. This has been formulated over decades, based on military and foreign service experience, particularly post-WWII and then following the Cold War. The basic premise is that to best serve American national interests, democracy is good, transparency is good, the free market is good, applicable all around the world.
To have a President, whomever it may be, disparage, attack, smear and slander career foreign service members is beyond reprehensible. And you would agree with that sentiment, if you've ever met any of these fine folks.
There is a hyper-partisanship currently in America that is dangerous and teetering on the brink of being out of control. I'm starting to agree with Sarge, that we may be slowly but surely entering the point of no return.
