The Russians stole our colors. I used to love the Red and Gold Hammer and Sickle. Now THAT was a flag! Might as well say we stole the French flag...

United States goalkeeper Hope Solo was targeted for abuse by Brazilian fans on Wednesday night as the women’s national team began its quest for a fourth straight Olympic gold medal by defeating New Zealand 2-0 in Belo Horizonte.

Starting in the second half, Solo was booed by local supporters at Estadio Mineirao in Belo Horizonte — with fans loudly chanting “Zika” every time she cleared the ball from her penalty area.

The controversial World Cup and Olympic champion has been outspoken about her concerns over traveling to Brazil due to the Zika virus. Earlier this week, she posted a photograph of herself on Twitter wearing a beekeeper’s mask and holding a giant bottle of insect repellent. Her post was widely reported in the Brazilian media

I watched the game and can confirm this. In addition, the New Zealand team was hot. #2 was incredible. Many hits on that team.

RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Riot police fired tear gas at protesters gathered along the pathway for the Olympic torch relay as it arrived in Rio de Janeiro.

Riot police used tear gas and pepper spray to disperse a crowd of protesters, causing people, including families with children who came out to watch the Olympic torch, to run away.

Chinese Olympic basketball team caught in the middle of gunfight between armed gangsters

Chinese athletes found themselves in the middle of a shootout between armed gangsters and police officers after arriving in Rio de Janeiro for the Olympics.

A group of basketball players and journalists were being bused to the Olympic Village from Tom Jobin International Airport when the gunfight occurred.

The firefight erupted across two highways in the north of the city as the coach was travelling through, catching the Chinese delegation in the middle.

I agree with Cookie in the P-G today. Between security, cost, and being irrelevant because of so many pro sports, I think it's just time to bag the Olympics.

Golf? Really? I love golf but it is no Olympic sport, and there is no way anyone who has made millions in their sport should be doing anything but watching the Olympics. Da ****?

I hear something like t 450,000 condoms will be distributed during the Rio de Janeiro Olympics. So if the sports suck, at the odds are those looking will get laid, and this includes the athletes seem pretty good.

I say put the Olympics on hiatus for 20 years, re-evaluate it's value, and if deemed worthy, bring it back as an all amateur event.........without Bob Costas......and that Johnny Weir.
