The Olympics, how much do they matter?

The agony of defeat in full display with Men's gymnastics over the weekend:

Humans are boring, that Brazilin jumping horse stopping and sending his rider flying head first through the poles was like, 'Nope, you go first' - hahahaha

I think the Olympics hired the same outfit that handles Donald's ads.

I have no ******* idea when anything is going to go down at the Olympics. Hope I'm channel flipping when the men's sprints happen.

Athletes gorging themselves on free McDonald's

RIO DE JANEIRO — The afternoon was blustery, cold and drizzling, and the Samoan freestyle swimmer Brandon Schuster was outside in shorts and flip-flops, looking rather anxious because there were still 53 people in front of him to reach the door of the Olympic Village’s most popular restaurant.

“We’re so pathetic,” he said. “It’s raining, and we’re waiting in line for McDonald’s.”

You might assume that the world’s most finely tuned athletes would be eating something healthy — egg-white omelets, kale salads — as they strive to reach the pinnacle of their sporting lives. And you would be wrong.

The one constant in the Olympic Village, the collection of high-rise apartment towers where some 10,000 athletes, coaches and staff live during the Games, is that there will be a line out the door of the McDonald’s. Morning and night, in blazing sun or stiff wind, come stray bullet or whiff of sewage, the Olympians will be waiting for their fries.

Part of the issue here is that there are not a ton of alternatives. The village has a cafeteria in a big tent — plus a “casual dining” restaurant with Brazilian food — but the reviews have been well short of glowing. The crush of people in the cafeteria, trying to figure out in a babel of languages what is being served, can make for a frenzied meal.

So many people have been coming to McDonald’s that the restaurant decided this week to limit to 20 the number of items that one person could order.

Rio diving pool—still green—now closed and smells like farts

"Authorities have blamed everything from people to pH, but no end is in sight.

The outdoor Olympic diving pool, which turned a startling shade of green Tuesday, is now closed. It reportedly smells like farts and may be causing eye itchiness among athletes. Since Tuesday, Olympic organizers have repeatedly assured athletes and fans that the pool is safe and that the situation was under control. Rio organizing committee spokesman Mario Andrada told reporters on Wednesday that “the pool should go back to its classic blue color during the day.” That clearly didn’t happen. Instead, reports trickled in that the adjacent pool used for water polo and synchronized swimming also began to turn green."

I think Usain Bolt said he ate a big mac back in the 2008 beijing olympics before his race

I was all excited for Phelps winning his last gold medal and then he said he spoke with Ray Lewis today.

Maybe he ran out of deer antler snuff

NBC is actually doing a decent job right now with presenting the marathon run going on right now...

They are staying with the race and are making it as interesting as you possibly can with a marathon..

I don't know if its the race keeping me in my Lazy Boy in the A/C...or my mind subconsciously preventing me from going out in the heat and humidity to cut the lawn..

Lol. I did a lower body workout wearing a hoodie/sweatpants Deebo style. Proceeded to cut the weeds in NM dry 89 degree heat. While still wearing the hoodie. So I say good for you enjoying the sunday. Cause I am just about to be lazy here and try to catch something on tv myself

Kuuuuuuuuchar comes from way back to get Bronze Medal in golf - epic final round!

epa_brazil_rio_2016_olympic_games_84274576.jpg

Matt Kuchar charging up the leaderboard — he went on to shoot 63 — to snatch the bronze was exhilarating. Watching Henrik Stenson and Justin Rose grow increasingly nervy, only for Rose to win the gold with some clutch play down the stretch, was golf at its very best. That there was possibility of a gold medal at the end of it all made things all the more exciting. Three of the best players in the world, all playing well at the same time, on a golf course that critics have been raving about. It doesn’t get much better.

As the best professor I had in graduate business school once said, "Why do we eat at McDonald's? It's not because the food is good. It's because wherever you are, when you see a McDonald's, you know what you're going to get."

I tune in for the Greco. wrestling. that is about it. Mrs. Blitz tapes it all and watches everything. I pretty much lose her for 2 weeks every 4 years

Too much work. I need ads. Why would NBC advertise the 100 meter sprint? That wouldn't make any sense. Something like "See who the fastest man in the world is Tuesday night at whatever".

Seriously, I really don't remember any ads for any exciting subplots or particular events or anything. I think they **** the bed, and their ratings reflect it.
