The rumors are starting...

Remember.. Desperate teams make Stupid moves... AKA Mr Massage being dealt for a kings ransom because Cleveland was desperate and stupid
True just not sure Miami is on the idiot level as the clowns organization. It takes decades to develop that level of idiocracy.

As I sit and ride the train home I just thought of this...

What if Miami does it again??? They obviously "tanked for Tua" a few years back. This year's QB class looks really good (depending on those who declare for the draft). This could be what they're thinking but who knows???

My trade to MIA for Wilson?

Waddle
2025 Rd 1
2026 Rd 2

They need a QB, have a deep WR room and can still win with who they have.
The Dolphins have zero depth behind Hill and Waddle. Literally practice squad guys called up

Taking nothing away from what Justin Fields has done, The Steelers would be insane to trade Russ. They don't even know what this team would/could be with Russ. Nobody does. Fields has done exactly what this team has asked of him, nothing more, nothing less. He looked better on sunday than I ever expected, much better! But
Context matters. He beat a hobbled Journeyman, a rookie and a backup QB with an injury decimated chargers team.
3 wins with a dominant defense. Maybe the most dominant in the league the first three weeks.
I need to see much more from Fields before I anoint him as the QB of the future. Even if he plays out of his mind the rest of the year you don't trade away the leagues best backup QB that you signed for league minimum. For a few reasons, Running QB have trouble staying healthy, plus you don't Throw an AFC contender with one of the leagues highest powered offense a potential lifeline. Thats bad business all the way around.

I'd think the gating issue is Wilson's no trade clause. He needs to ok the trade, which means the conditions he wants, including $$$ on next contract, may be on the table.

So the Steelers may have leverage given Miami's need, but DangeRuss also has leverage.

This seems like a "new" situation for the team.

Miami views themselves as contenders right now... if they want the guy still listed as our starter at QB, its a first rounder or pound sand. This isnt about value, its about leverage

And nobody has a qb as accomplished as Wilson at league minimum... ...heck tell them you want a first plus a low rounder that you can trade for a backup... cap friendly contracts dont come cheap
This is the essence of the situation -- Wilson's contract for a player of his pedigree is a complete anomaly. Pittsburgh is firmly in the driver's seat here; they can sit back and wait to see how desperate the Dolphins truly are. If Miami's willing to overpay, great. If not, the Steelers still have arguably the best backup QB in the league, at the cheapest price. Russ can see the writing on the wall, so he'd approve a trade. He knows that he will be plugged in as the starter immediately in Miami. In Pittsburgh, it's become a lot more murky for him.

Who would they be tanking for now? Sanders?

Sh!t give me Cam he is the morphed child of Hines Ward and Cam Heyward. 😁

Lol all offseason people were saying how crappy the next QB draft was going to be... a couple weeks into the CFB season and suddenly its a good draft🤣...
I think it has its possibilities.

I am liking Cam Ward that’s my way too early hype…

It normally goes like that after the big programs smash the no names by 70 points...omg..such and such threw for 490 yards and 5 td's vs butthole university. We need to draft him

Holy crap Stryker! You think Miami would be that stupid?
That stupid? No
That Desperate? Yes

Though I think we would trade picks. Maybe something more like this

Steelers Get
Waddle
2025 1st
2026 2nd

Dolphins get
2025 3rd
2026 4th

Trading picks is very in for Khan, and this would still give Miami value with a day 2 pick and a 4th, while we get a day 1 and a day 2 pick and still swap players at positions of need.

Barrios is a career slot who has played in every game but one in his career since 2018.
They have OBJ
Malik Washington was a stud at UVA last year. 1400+yds 9TDs 110 Catches in 12 games! Dude is an X at his size and reception targets. He is the replacement for Waddle.

Also with the writing on the wall, if Fields is starter over RW, he will OK any trade clause so he can play to make some $$ next offseason.

I think the bigger picture is this. If Fields keeps playing just like he is right now, no improvement but steady, Wilson will not see the field this year and no way he signs back with us as a backup. so he will be gone to the first team that offers him a starting position and we get nothing. Trading him even for a second rounder makes huge sense in that regards.

You also have to factor in that even if Justin goes down there is no guarantee that Wilson's calf will hold or something else may go wrong and again you get nothing. People are Remembering Wilson from Seattle he is not that guy anymore.

if Fields is a bust as a starter he has at least proven to be a good backup. maybe you can trade for a franchise QB next year but also have the draft capital to get a star wide out in the draft.

I just think that if the Dolphins are willing to give up a second or more for Wilson it opens up unlimited possibilities for us.

I know we have a tremendous defense one of the best in league history so far, I am just not sold that we have the offense with either Fields or Wilson this year. The oline is still kind of a mess, we have on idea of Najee's injury yet, who knows how long Warren will be out and we still don't have a stud #2 receiver in my opinion.

It's just my personal feelings that we are still a year away from being a serious threat to win it all.

Well they are indeed desperate. I mean I would love that return but we would be taking a huge chance depleting our QB depth. Man we’d have to pray that Justin stays healthy and that he keeps improving each week. Then again, it’s a game of risks and you have to be ready to make moves like this.
Russ is by far the most accomplished veteran QB that could possibly be available not currently starting.

I really get the feeling that as soon as Wilson is healthy, Tomlin will look for any reason to turn back to him... if Fields struggles at all, even in a win.. you will 100% see Russell get a shot

Read Batches comments: https://www.steelernation.com/2024/09/24/steelers-charlie-batch-scared-justin-fields

A lot of insiders kind of hint at this.. there are a lot of people so intent on Fields being the starter, they arent looking at the signs that he probably is just in there cause Wilsons knee has been worse than anticipated...

Remember, the team wasnt really planning on starting him this year, have draft pick incentives to play him less than 50% of the snaps (if another viable option is there), and havent totally shown trust in him yet... (though you are seeing a little more in that area...)

Tomlin wont irk the great unwashed by pulling the switch during a win streak without reason though.. a couple more bad picks or fumbled exchanges and he will throw out Russell and say Fields needs to clean some stuff up...

The real telling point will be when Russ is healthy enough to be QB2 and active...

Just a reminder the steelers got a 2nd rounder for Chase Claypool. Mike McDaniel will get another chance because he's still seen as a genius,,,for now. But Miami's GM is on the hot seat. He's the one who did nothing at backup QB while the Steelers got WIlson, Fields, and Allen for almost nothing. Minnesota got Darnold,

Miami also had to start thinking about Tua retiring, if not now, then after he gets his next concussion which seem inevitable. You could absolutely sell it that Wilson will be a placeholder for a few seasons while they draft a QB of the future.

Miami should ask cleveland about Jameis Winston. He has the arm to make Tyreek and Waddle dangerous.

Butthole university lol, I can imagine Beavis and Butthead studying there

Your typical sacrificial lamb school that produces ridiculously inflated stats for your qb and humiliation for them.

Phins trade us Waddle and a second round pick. we then march into Christmas 15-0 against the 15-0 Chiefs at which time we destroy the Chiefs on our way to a 20-0 record. hence we will have **** ed the Dolphins twice in the same season.

Yes I have been drinking but everyday is Saturday to me, so why not.

Wilson’s “no trade clause” goes out the window as soon as he gets an opportunity to start. If he sits all season, he gets squat next year.
