The Rooney's no longer care about fielding a good team, just a mediocre team that can get warm bodies in the stadium. The fact that the fans still support this mediocrity assures nothing will change. While I consider Tomlin a big part of the problem, if a non-losing season is good enough then he is doing his job.

Anyone could have seen this coming a mile away - a complete revamp of the offensive line with rookies, free agents, and a few holdovers and now an injured linebacker is the highest paid player on the team. No plans for a future at QB unless Dwayne Haskins pans out after being fired from the team that drafted him in the first round.

This will not be a non-losing season. I can only see three games that we have a shot at winning, all against NFC North teams ( Lions, Bears, and Vikings ). We will lose to the Packers next week because Rogers will carve up our secondary. The only good thing about this is we may be picking high enough to choose a possible franchise quarterback. The bad news in this scenario is that we have traded away many future draft picks in order to field this group of All-Pros (sarcasm) so we will not have as many high additional picks to build up our other weaknesses.

This isn’t your daddy’s Steelers.
I’ll support the organization cause I’m a fan. But the emotional investment doesn’t bother me anymore.

I know and understand a lot of us fans value consistency, legacy and tenure. But sometimes holding onto something too long bites you in the ***.

We need to get with the times and trends. Pro sports across all leagues are trends. It’s how the franchise adapts.

Just my opinion. I feel the hardcore fans have been phased out by fantasy foozball fans and then the political flag anthem stuff further pushed us away.

I’m willing to bet if the fans can voice displeasure locally and have the media pressure the organization then you see results.

The Steelers get by on branding/recognition these days

This was simply the Steelers staying loyal to Ben for one year too long and trying to fix the offense with Najee Harris. The rest was hoping the offensive line wouldn't be worse than last year.

Bullshit. Total Bullshit. It is harder to won in this league than any of our spoiled fans want to admit. Particularly when we are deluged in injuries. The Rooneys have spent and traded trying to field a winning team.
Yes I agree. We are spoiled. Lol. Too much. That’s why I’ve lowered expectations and will not let the game ruin my day like years past.

I got to see the Pens and Steelers win in my lifetime. Asking the Pirates will probably require a soul sacrifice.

Now I just hope my alma mater gets a national championship. Aside. I enjoy coming here and bantering away with you guys. Steeler Nation means more cause it’s brought us strangers together.

I’m only wary of ogre cause I hear the bad stories

The offensive line is young and will show a lot of immaturity for the time being. I think they do get it together but it will be too late in the season.

Haven’t agreed with you a lot lately. But that’s got to do with Ben. But I totally agree with this. They have signed and traded / spent big dollars to try and better their team. They are always up against the cap, which of course means they are spending the $$$$$$$. Of course not every decision works out. Our biggest hindrance would most likely having a great won/loss record for so long. The lack of top draft position. It’s remarkable we have been so competitive for so long. Yes we are spoiled. But for real. Not so much lately.

It could have been young with some higher pedigree players drafted playing. My biggest concern right now is Dotson is playing very poorly and this is after an offseason where there were a couple of reports about the coaching staff being concerned with him.

If the coaching staff was concerned prior. Then that speaks volumes how they are running things.

This is the single dumbest post ever created on this forum, and that’s saying a lot.

How so? Dotson is a grown man who was responsible for his own preparation during the off season up until mini-camp/OTAs. That's when the reports of their displeasure surfaced. And during camp, he wasn't practicing because of injury (not the staff's fault). Then, when he returned, he had to prove that he was better than Coward (sp) in order to get his job back.
Name something different the coaching staff could have done?

Yes Dotson is a grown man responsible for his actions. But if the coaching staff sees this pattern repeating. Encourage him to move on or see if a change of scenery does him better.

Sure I get second chances, etc. But as an organization you’re under a microscope already. You want to field the best people out there

I watched none of the game. I went riding and checked the score a few times. Once I figured out it was the same old ****. I never checked again. I can not remember the last time I did not watch a Steeler game. This has been one of the best Sundays I have had. They will always be my team, but I ain't wasting one hour of my Sunday watching that bullshit..They will be seen via sports highlight shows for the near future.

So, you're saying they should have cut/traded one of their best rookies from last year because they were disappointed in his level of preparation this year? This may have gotten them a low round pick in return. A pick that couldn't help them this year.
Then you factor in that that decision would have left you with Coward or some other less capable player starting at LG. If you think the line play is crappy now ... whoeeee.
Point being, unfortunate as it is that Dotson was in the dog house for whatever reason, he was/is one of the people you'd turn to if you want to field the best people out there. At least on this year's squad.
Also, I disagree, one off season is not a "pattern" to me. If he hasn't learned his lesson from the *** whoopins he's taking this year and does anything similar next year, then you explore your options.

Whatever. But I doubt Dan Rooney would have put up with what you saw today - or the end of last year - without some house cleaning at the highest levels.

well OC is a pretty high level

This will be Tomlin's first sub .500 season barring a miracle. We got our teeth kicked in at home by the Bungles. Every team goes through it, they better find the next QB or they'll waste all the talent around that position on the roster. I'd play the back up QB's and move on already, secure a chance at the next franchise guy. It's just time. Anyone who watches the games and doesn't see it needs glasses at the minimum. How the Hell we beat Buffalo on the road, I can't tell you. Dumb luck.

Dead on and I'd add they like the facade of looking like they are competitive over accepting there are down seasons for a franchise. It cannot be reload every year. Sometimes you gotta take your medicine.

Blocked punt and healthy D is why we won in Buf...
Only issue i have with rooneys is sticking with Tomlin. Tomlin is simply not an Xs and Os coach and makes questionable personnel and coordinator choices among other things. About all he does well is speak to the media.

I think the Steelers have stuck with Tomlin 8 years too many now. That film is in the can ready to ship out.
