This is police brutality

Some much needed good news:

<samp class="EmbedCode-container"><code class="EmbedCode-code"><blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">NEW: Fire was in basement of St. Johns, and is out, my <a href="https://twitter.com/washingtonpost?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@washingtonpost</a> colleague <a href="https://twitter.com/phscoop?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@phscoop</a> reports from DC fire department. Firefighters got there w/ a police escort and quickly put out the blaze. Did NOT appear to cause any significant damage, and it is unclear how it started.</p>— Michelle Boorstein (@mboorstein) <a href="https://twitter.com/mboorstein/status/1267292909998673921?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">June 1, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> </code></samp>

I have an idea how it started:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">From earlier: American flag stolen from church and burned outside White House on H St <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/protests2020?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#protests2020</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/dcprotest?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#dcprotest</a> <a href="https://t.co/yD5tFYixw0">pic.twitter.com/yD5tFYixw0</a></p>— Steven Nelson (@stevennelson10) <a href="https://twitter.com/stevennelson10/status/1267288175740948482?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">June 1, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

I admit- I got teary eyed when they showed the church on fire.

Ted Williams not only feels your pain, but is pissed! Don't blame him one bit:

The economy? Jobs? Our standing in the world? Those are the arguments you’re going to make for him as we slide further into a depression and the country burns?

Everything good is because of him. Nothing bad is even a little bit his fault.

Ok.

I see. So you are of the "Trump caused Covid",mentality evidently. That's all I need to know to show me that this conversation will go nowhere. Because before Covid came along and ****** everything to the sky, the economy was as good or better than it has ever been in our history....same for the stock market and same for jobs BECAUSE of Trump's policies. I'm sorry if that is hard for you to swallow because he tweets mean things sometimes, but they are simple facts. So unless you are saying Covid is Trump's fault, your argument doesn't make sense nor does it hold water.

Trump is trying to restart the economy. Its liberal governors that are keeping the shutdown going and intentionally pushing the country towards a depression, there isn't much more he can do to get businesses open again. You know, states rights.

He also doesn't have the power to send troops into states. Again, the role of governors and their National Guard.

Like every President before him, he has no control over black peoples' feelings of anger and neglect. If presenting them with the lowest unemployment rate in history, the prison reform act, and clemency for Alice Johnson hasn't earned him any credit in the black community, then HE isn't the problem....

What stuff? Some advice, when the police are trying to secure the peace in a violent riot situation - Tired of seeing the police act like this? They were begging the police to act like that.

So you haven't seen any situations of excessive use of force or police officers making the situation worse over the past few days? I suppose I have a higher standard.

Lincoln Memorial defaced. I don’t see this stopping any time soon.

The way some of you seem to see everything as black and white amazes me. No he didn't cause it. But this country needs leadership desperately right now and he is not providing it.

It's not just because some of his tweets are mean. It's because he can't put a mature coherent thought together about anything. Yeah I get that some of you don't care that we have someone with the mentality of a 6th grader leading us right now. Some of us do.

And if all of this was happening under Obama I'm sure you'd be waving it all away as not his fault.

Yeah right.

Anyway I realize no dissent from the Trump cult is allowed here. Despite the fact that I think I've been very fair and even handed in my assessment of him over the years. But this current situation exposes his weaknesses in a glaring way. And it scares me for this country.

But again. no more than a President Biden scares me for this country.

Williams is right. We had better preparation and stronger police presence for a Georgia suburb on just a rumor that they were coming to a shopping center.

I responded to the videos you posted and we definitely have different standards. The only way police made any of these situations worse, or worse still allowed them to happen at all, was through weak enforcement, but that is a policy thing that isn't their fault.

You posted something in a prior post that I have thought a lot about over the years. Is this the best we can do?

I'm a Republican, but consider myself more of a conservative. If we had a half way, even remotely honest media, maybe we could do better. We don't. I have watched them systematically destroy Bush's Presidency, and he never fought back on any of it. He was/is a good decent man who tried to do things with dignity, and they still went after him day and night. Romney didn't pay his taxes and abused animals and classmates, apparently. My point is as a Republican/Conservative, if we ever want to see another one in office, I am worried that Trump or a guy like Trump is what it is gonna have to be. A guy who fights back. Fighting back is not pretty.

It's a damn shame. Look at everything they have thrown at Trump. We are finding out for sure now the whole Russia thing was really a hoax. So look at the lengths they will go to destroy a guy they don't like. If you don't have a scrapper, they won't survive. And again, scrappers ain't pretty. But a guy like Bush or Romney will never win, I don't believe. And we will have nothing but Democrat Presidents. Have you at all looked at that latest **** of a bill the House put together? Is that a country you want to live in moving forward?

You know, there is more than anecdotal evidence that police brutality is a thing. And not just when it comes to black people. It’s an epidemic. But hey, as long as the police are out night-sticking the colored folk, it’s just rogue pieces of ****, right? It’s a bigger problem than George Floyd, and isn’t isolated to the black community.

What you're seeing now isn't about George Floyd or the police. George Floyd is the "youtube video" in the Benghazi attack equation. When you have a terroristic, anarchist enemy then ANY pretext is sufficient and a license to ill. The real problem is that you have professional agitators and anarchists aided and abetted by these Blue politicians and MSM.

Not a time for Sympathy for the Devil.

US Grant was a flawed man. Lincoln said, "I cannot spare him, he fights."

These are not protests. Our cities are under attack from domestic terrorists. The military needs to be mobilized with orders to use deadly force.

Yeah, that would go over really well. Come on man, deadly force?

Yes. Asking nicely hasn't worked. Neither have curfews, tear gas, rubber bullets etc... You would rather continue to watch everything crumble and our country get destroyed?

Look, I don’t agree with the Castro or pig socks or Che bullshit. But he wasn’t wrong about police brutality. It’s really that simple. It’s real. And it happens far too often.

What we're seeing now happens far too often. We're a country of 300 million. So now every time there's an issue with a black male arrested we're going to have to go through 1992 LA riots nationwide?

What makes you think anyone can reason with anarchists or what's happening now has anything to do with something that happened in Minneapolis?

What would you have to do to placate or appease the implacable? You can't. If we had all made shrines to Kap and worshiped him before every kickoff, it wouldn't change what's happening now. There's no arbitrary standard of reparation or redress you could impose to satisfy the forces or chaos and anarchy. White guilt is creeping in is what I see and am hearing.

Rulers are supposed to be a "terror to evil works." Not a terror to good works. 2020 proves the government no longer fulfills its God-ordained role and will be judged for that.

Violence begets violence. If they start using deadly force, what do you think happens next. You think the rioters are just going to stop? Hell they were jamming police radios last night in Chicago, heard it myself on my scanner. If you up the annie by using deadly force, then all bets are off.

If you where attacked 24/7 for four years, how do you think that you would react? Jesus Christ, they tried to have him arrested! He didn't fix everything that Obama screwed up by not having "mature coherent thoughts".

All of this DID happen under Obama. And it WAS his fault! Hell, it still is.

These are not protests.

So full of ****, as those on the far right tend to be. You know who's causing the violence and mayhem in the streets? Sadly, in some places, the cops themselves are, along with a steady stream of extremist (far left and far right) agitators, that's who.

To dismiss the hundreds of thousands of Americans protesting police brutality around the country is, well, un-American as it gets.

But carry on, by all means, let your true colors shine. It is very revealing to read the posts on this board. It isn't difficult to tell who loves this country - and what it stands for - and who doesn't. The posts speak for themselves, including those calling for deadly force to be used against their fellow Americans. Shameful.

Ok.

Go vote for Joe ******* Biden then. It is his ilk that is burning down our country, Not Trump.

Meh i have friends and acquaintances that are involved with the protests, all seem to think the biggest problem makers are the marxists that are appropriating the protests trying to turn it into a people’s revolution... the peaceful protesters understand that the violence is just polarizing the rest of the country against their legitimate cause...

As i have said to many of them... if there was a modern day MLK in this , their words will be lost to time because all the focis are on white spoiled brats who think socialism is the key...

I'm glad things remain peaceful and non-violent where you live. If you remove the provocatuers, anarchists and hooligans from the equation, the smoke clears a bit and the protest comes more into focus: police brutality and its effect on communites - primarily black communities - around the country. The pain is palpable. Imo, this should bother all of us, not just black Americans, and we should all be demanding things to get fixed. To create a better version of America for now and in the future.

I posted the clip of this student activist's speech earlier in the thread. Powerful words.

Thank you for posting that link. Hopefully clear thinking people can see the obvious communist symbolism with the red theme and raised fists of the angry workers. Communist thought is not a solution to our problems. But we know that communism always sought to create misery and play off of chaos everywhere it came to ascendancy -- while transforming itself into an angel of light to the gullible and first the young and unmoored.

"A little leaven leavens the whole lump." These protests are seeded with far left terrorists and anarchists "seeing their chance."

2Peter2:19: "While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage."

Bring it on then...lets see when the full force of the military gets involved how long these terrorists want to play the game or think that they can go toe to toe.

I prefer Presidents who don’t hide in a bunker and turn the lights of the White House off, sending out childish tweets in the middle of the night during a national crisis.

Here is your great MAGA leader.
