This win feels real empty, doesnt it?

I watched every minute.... I echo many of the remarks in this thread.... Specifically concerning the erosion of my personal enjoyment and fondness of rooting for this team....

This about sums it up .... When Loop missed the kick... I literally laughed out loud.... Didn't celebrate.... Just laughed at the busted *** way in which we got the win....

Maybe true., But Mike Tomlin won’t be there forever and I believe after next year he’ll be done. That should make a lot of people happy and maybe a little less frustrated with the Steelers. Personally, he’s just one man and doesn’t foreshadow the entire organization or history of the greatest football franchise that ever played the game.
I’m a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
I am not a fan of the Pittsburgh Tomlins.
It probably would be better just cause it will be different... cowhers teams had gotten quite stale before he said F it in 05 and let Ben come out throwing in the playoffs...

But Im afraid it may be a larger NFL issue... insane endings and wild 4 th quarters used to be special... now its every other game on TV...

Like when we scored the first go ahead TD, i was pumped, but the combo of our D and the NFL these days immediately made me think, " too much time left"
When they scored, I wasnt deflated... i was almost happy because it was inevitable and they left so much time.. when we scored again, then missed the xP, i never once thought it wasnt coming down to a last second FG...

I mean that win should be special, but it just felt boring...

I feel that we didn’t as much win this game as much as Baltimore lost it. I mean how do we let Flowers wide open twice for two huge touchdowns? How do we let Lamar just run that offense right down the field for a 44 yard game winning chance? Just seems more like we lucked out than anything else. I mean I was cheering as loud as I could and jumping up and down after that miss. But once it settled in I was like this is not a fortuitous outcome like last night.

I'm accustomed to losing playoff and other 'big' games so while I was expecting to lose last night's game, it wasn't going to bother me that much.
Winning was a pleasant surprise but, like mad and others, it didn't really excite me. Especially knowing our recent history in the playoffs.
Been watching the Steelers since the early 70's and unfortunately it's just not the same as it used to be.

I don't get excited like I used to, but that game was about as good as it can get from an excitement standpoint. As for moving forward looking at the AFC teams Buffalo is the only one that really scares me.

Cowhers teams were competitive, even in the down years, and he let Neil throw it in 94 52 times in the playoff game, let Kordell throw it in 97 vs Denver, up 10 and we're letting Kordell throw it, threw it 28 times to 8 runs in 01 vs NE, different when you get a franchise QB, but he still won playoff games without Ben.

Walking out of the stadium last night was really fun, and it was great to see so many happy fans......but there were a bunch of folks yelling about Tomlin and Smith, and the bad TOs early in the 4th, that we're probably resigned, like me, that Tomlin is now here for 26 and probably 27.

yeah, that's the problem lol, then tell those same fans that the Steelers haven't won a playoff game since the 2016 season then watch their face, Steelers come to mind with the casual/other teams fans, but Steeler fans know the truth. I don't think we'll see those days until the HC is gone.
Tomlin might as well have mooned the crowd instead of blowing a kiss as that's what he's really doing. He's the textbook definition of a DEI dirtbag that knows he can do whatever he wants, competency be damed.

I jumped and hugged my MIL when the miss happened. While I was pleasantly surprised by the miss, I did it for her. She loves our Steelers, and still has hope, so I took the celebration to the top. It was good.

This game is being treated by some as a clash of titans, the better of whom will sweep aside the rest of their opponents. In fact, it was two teams who have no business being in the playoffs, seeing who could out-lose the other. I bet the Texan players just laughed.

I am happy for the win. I'm a Steelers fan. I'm bummed for the win, hoping for the Tomlin era to be over, and knowing that we just dropped in the draft again. Either way, one more game.

Now that Penguins win yesterday. . . . .

Dino - I, too have always cheered the crest on the front, and not the names on the back.
But it's just beyond infuriating when you're watching your favorite team's house burning to the ground on TV, and you're shouting at the TV, "GET A HOSE! CALL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT! BUST OPEN SOME WINDOWS FOR VENTING!" all while there's this clown in front of the burning house with a seltzer bottle spraying himself and laughing.
I hear you loud and clear. It’s very frustrating for me, and for the same reasons as yours.
However, through the years since the early 70s watching the Steelers, I’ve had my favorite players and coaches, and I’ve had players and coaches that I did not like at all.
Just like anything in life, whether it’s your family, your coworkers, or players and coaches from your favorite football team, you’re not going to like or enjoy visiting or working or watching them all play a game on TV. However, if you like your job, you still go to work, if you love your family, you still spend time with all of them, and it’s the same for me with my favorite football team.
Like anything in life it’s not perfect but the good definitely outweighs the not so good.

Anyway, it’s the way I look at things in my crazy point of view.

This is a pathetic thread. Shiit, they won. They beat the Ravens and knocked them out. These games are so many times a little different. Idk what is going to happen next week, but whatever it is, we can deal with it. So why not just enjoy the win?

Exactly! SMH

How can anyone say not exciting...empty feeling. We won who saw that this past week. We were down Ten and came back how many times, Boz misses first extra point, special teams give up big return, fourth down secondary lets us down once more. We are all down knowing a field goal will win and OMG moment far right Steelers win Steelers win. Myself I was up and down emotionally in the game I thought how do we win with two key players on offense missing we would struggle as last week. What more could you expect being a Steeler fan. AFC champs when we were picked third and fourth at beginning of season. The plays Baltimore made, and all my wife and I could say those time outs will hurt us as well as not getting the field goal at half. The only empty I feel is wore out form another Ravens/Steelers classic. Empty is the ravens fans drive home, their fans once more see us beat Jackson.

But, I won't let myself have any expectations.
My man..
Here’s how I look at things, maybe it’s good maybe not so good but here it goes:

The days that I keep my expectations low, are when I have very good days.

And that’s the philosophy I use and everything in my Life every day

We are not perfect, our lives are not perfect, mistakes happen, so don’t expect too much from other people or even ourselves at times.
It makes you appreciate the good days when all is well even more, and not be as a disappointed as you would be if you kept your expectations very high all the time

Then you are around my age. Nothing is the same as it used to be. I just enjoy the moment then and see what happens next week. I try not to have expectations one way or the other.

Of course it’s not the same.
Everything changes.
We had to win this game if we want to snap our winless streak in the playoffs. It was the first step to get over that hump and in all reality I was hoping for a division win, and one playoff win at home.
Maybe some consider that a low expectation,, but I consider it a good realistic expectation.
We’re on that way to achieving that. And I truly believe we’re gonna win Monday night.

I also don't understand this expectations thing. Why would we? if you grew up playing sports, it is something you learned very early, that anyone can be beat. Knowing that, why have expectations? I think hope is different than expectations. I do have some hope. We'll see.

Living near Baltimore, this win feels pretty damn good
Yes, sir!
As you know, I’m down over on the Delmarva Peninsula, which mostly is Raven’s country. I am wearing one of my Steeler tees, And now heading to planet fitness to get a little exercise in with steeler pride and my chest out.!

We didn’t win this game. Ravens lost it. That’s why it feels empty and we’re heading into the playoffs on “luck”. Not exactly comforting.
