Tomlin had nothing to do with Arians Leaving

Tomlin not allowed to pick his coordinators, but given full control of the draft.......

Yep. The same argument that I have stated over the years. I'm not really sure what Tomlin does and doesn't do though. While we seem to he heading upward as a team I still am not a fan of Tomlin. The way I see it Tomlin will be here until Ben retires. If we win another SB he probably stays on. If he doesn't then the Rooney's "might" make a change.

Shades is a decent coach in some respects but hiring assistants is not his strong suit. In contrast, Cowher could hire good assistants but wasn't so good at keeping them.

Arians comes off pretty weak and petty throwing Tomlin under the bus like this.

Tomlin said he could not get him the money. I smell bs. How much more does Haley make? Tomlin interviews, hires and fries the coaches.

Arians offense got lots of yards and often came in second in scoring or generated lots of three and outs. The defense kept the steelers in a lot of games and was a key factor in winning one Superbowl for sure.

Arians didn't have Bell and had brown for just a short while before he was a star. The OL wasn't as good either

Pretty sure Ark was being sarcastic.

It confirms the Rooney's didn't want him back and Tomlin did. The Rooney's put their foot down. Arians was gone. Doesn't say anything about every other hire nor does it confirm anything except in this case

Come on, we can read between the tea leaves. LeBeau leaving was purely a Rooney call too. And hiring Haley was all Rooneys too. It seems overly obvious to me.

Anything that seems overly obvious to you pretty much confirms the opposite

You kind of forgot about the "contract" part. That was the sticky part of the equation I'm guessing.

The big point is Tomlin was stupidly happy with Arians wanted to keep him and give the dumbass a raise. Very telling on Tomlin's lack of smarts

Yep!

Stole the words out of my mouth

I look at the strengths and weaknesses at each position.

And we can say secondary and LBer is the teams greatest weakness.

Now I love them as players, but for me they have to take a decent amount of the blame.

When talking this coach or that coach.

Peezy and Lake.

Well we did go to 2 SB's with him winning one. How many teams out there would gladly take that? Probably most.

Except for one year, '08, The Bruce's offenses were no better than mid-pack in total points. The only way you win Super Bowls that way is with a great defense. I did a study way back then that showed when the Steelers allowed less than 20 points they usually won and when they allowed more than 20 points they usually lost. This was because they offense wasn't very good at putting up more than 21 points.

The offense had plenty of talent during those years and he played right into the offensive line's weakness.

And to use a talent like Wallace you had to go deep. By the way, Ben was hurt more under Haley than Arians.

The protection is much better these days...

So does George Seifert, who is a much better comparison.

I don't think this is news. It was known that getting rid of Arians was the rooneys call, because Tomlin was too weak to make it. It was absolutely the right call to get rid of Arians. Ben was actually becoming a worse QB each year. Toward the end he was barely even using real plays. It was all playground bullshit where he'd hold the ball and run around until somebody was open.

Arians encouraged this nonsense. How many times did we see 3rd and 4 type plays and Ben got sacked because he was waiting on the slow developing double move 20 yards downfield?

Rooney HAD to make that call. Arians and Ben were Buddy/Buddy, and that worked to the detriment of the team. Ben was also just a wee bit immature, personally and professionally. If Tomlin makes that move it could have ripped the clubhouse apart, but because Rooney made the call, there was nothing more to say.

Art2 has made some egregious moves, but this was not one of them.

To be fair, Ben is improving. When he was younger, he wouldn't throw unless the player was open. Now he's throwing in windows and throwing players open by aiming to open spots of the field. He was a lot more prone to holding the ball earlier in his career because he wasn't comfortable thowing unless he saw someone open downfield.

Ariens' system didn't help, but neither did Ben's habits.
