Tomlin had no experience when hired.
But he now has 17 years.
So Tomlin being hired in 2008 with no prior experience is not really a valid reason in 2025 to give Tomlin the boot.

Tomlin was hired for the 2007 season and just completed his 18’th season so there’s that.
Now of course he wouldn’t refuse a three year 45 million dolllar extension. I wouldn’t have expected him to. He’s not a great coach but he’s not stupid.
The problem lies with the owner who facilitates this and allows it to continue. He rewards mediocre results and makes life for Tomlin far too comfortable and bestows far too much power to Tomlin.
He hires bad coordinators and position coaches, and make no mistake he’s very much involved with the draft and free agency,
Take a look at the last seven, eight drafts especially the premium picks rounds one and two, Not to good!
Then look at the free agents. Other than the two guards and maybe Elliott, not too impressive.
Tomlin is very involved in the game plans, adjustments when there are adjustments, team discipline, motivation, focus, etc.
in other words Tomlin has his fingers all over this team.
Nothing will change until Tomlin is gone. There is no plan on how to build a team. It always seems like a hodgepodge of complete nothingness.
Get ready for some scapegoat firings, new players coming in but the one constant will remain.

Yea know what would be interesting? To see Fraudlin go to another team and what he would do to build it. I'd expect the following:
1.) A total sellout on D. Through the draft and free agency, a complete sell out towards making the D the highest paid in the NFL. Now, like in Pgh, I didn't say the best D, only the highest paid. This would take some time, but he would get it there.
2.) Mismanagement of the QB position. He may stumble into a decent QB, but his pee-your-pants fear of turnovers would result in the QB in trashing his productivity, through play calling and general team focus. Every loss is solely blamed on turnovers, nothing else. No the lack of moving the ball or scorning points.
3.) Poor coordinators coaching where coordinators follow Shades prime directive, which only focuses on lack of turnovers over all else.
4.) Poor OL play for God knows why. 1st it will be caused from lack of drafting and free agent priority, but then, after being embarrassed into using high picks on the OL, he still just f---s it up, regardless. Plus it will be caused from lack of choosing an OL coach on his skill, he will be chosen on his "buddy" relationship and given endless opportunities to fix it but to no prevail. The OL just remains sucking is an endless FAIL. No plan to fix it, team just remains struggling with a sh-- OL.
5.) No coaches gaining any reputation that causes them to foster a good reputation deserving of a position of head coach or even as coordinator. No Mediocre Mike coaches attain any such position and you wonder why after 18 years none have. It's unheard of.

Art Deuce is either fooled and tricked by Mediocre Mike's slick words, or just doesn't care and it's just easier to stand with his current head coach, much more comfortable and breezy. Art doesn't want bothered with having to change a head coach, too much turmoil for Art. It's easier to just do nothing, Art is into doing what's easiest. Isn't that obvious? I don't see Yinzers like Coolie defending him anymore.

You are dead on there. I think it was after the first Bengal game, Wilson had like 400 yards passing and Tomlin said something along the lines of I've been telling you this WR room was pretty good or something like that.
He sometimes gets the acknowledge part down. But rarely takes on the responsibility and accountability part.

The Steelers have never won with his brand of football. Which is mediocre.
Shades has benefitted greatly from having the Bengals and Browns in his division. Once he goes against the better teams in the playoffs then it's not so good.
