Tomlin says there will be changes to staff. Outside OC as well.

It just doesn't happen. I only see a few guys giving it their all and are fundamentally sound. Roberts No. 50 is one of those guys.

I see a lot of whiffs, half efforts or no efforts, out of place undisciplined garbage. They do just enough when they have to.

I no longer believe anything the coaches say when they speak of objectives. The actions clearly show this isn't the case.

Nobody wants to go above and beyond what they absolutely have to do.

I think of all of the men who came before them who did the job for basically peanuts. These guys have a payroll every year in the hundreds of millions of dollars and they do much less and still ******* complain.
That’s just it. They’re paid regardless of outcome of the game. It’s all lip service to keep fan interest. Winning a ring doesn’t mean much anymore when you’re making $20-$30 million a year.

Just put in perspective. Say you make even just $10 million a year. That’s still a **** ton of money. You think these guys want to continue playing playoff football in cold *** KC or Buffalo? I bet majority of these guys would rather be on vacation in Cancun or some sunny beach with that money.

I do believe there are still players who play for pride because that’s a lot of physical work and a privilege to play at that level. But with the amount of money guaranteed it’s probably a few players who have that mindset

j

When is the last time you’ve seen more than 4 CRISP tackles in any given game, I’m talking fundamental & clean

Crickets

Salute the nation
They go for the madden ps5 hit. Football fundamentals have changed with the decreased practices(current cba)

I after this season and Tomlin's speech thought Tomlin was finally going to do something. We are still waiting. I thought he would find someone to charge this offense in the football way of today, nothing done yet. So what should we expect next year. We redo the defensive coordinator contract, wow when this defense was rated below average in all but points scored. . Good change there.

One has to have a pretty strong competitive mindset to not just make it, but remain in professional sports.

I'm sure a lot of them lose it and start to coast once the money starts pouring in, but probably not as many as you'd think, as there is always that hungry, less paid guy behind them, looking to take their spot.

Contracts are not fully guaranteed in the NFL either.

Pro sports are not so much about the team contracts. You pad your stats and live off endorsements. These guys play enough to get the commercial market exposure. You want to get contracts with nike, under armour, gatorade etc. ex. Pro bowl players - fantasy football stats

Guys coming out of college recently have the NIL to coast them through a professional career.

Yes there are still hungry players but the majority now care more about individual marketing. Social media and today’s streaming services care more about individual marketing. The super bowl teams are good marketing but it’s not a necessity for them anymore. Stats drive this league these days

Deuce interview on 93.7 today.
He says the OC hire is Shades’ decision.
This does not inspire confidence.

Did Deuce comment on Shades' extension?

Might it be held up until the OC hiring?

He’ll wait til after the draft then, when it’s time to truly visit the scrap heap of whatever is still left.

That will help handicap the new guy from bringing any concepts to the “new scheme” which is just the same old tomlin scheme and also prevent the new scapegoat from having a voice in the draft process

Geez, I think that even The Deuce would demand a more timely, responsive plan than that.

So, that is not like the Deuce is running up to the podium with the extension.....my read is that the boss is watching and judging the off-season far more than with previous extensions......will this make the OC hiring process less successful/more problematic because Tomlin is kinda in a lame duck period?

Well he can only blame himself if the guy sucks. It's his rodeo. Don't hire a clown.

I'm more shocked they're extending the DC.

Another season of the same coming right up....yaaasaay.
Meh, Shades is the DC.
Connect with players? What is it a social club now?

I'd rather hear teach and prepare players.
Deuce was reaching for something positive to say.

And let's not forget that this D is the most expensive one in the entire league and they STILL can't form a top shelf D, regardless of how much they spend. If that's not a testament to Tom Foolery, @ss Clownishness, nothing is. That is what a Shades-run team gets you, period, end-of-story.
