Tomlin says there will be changes to staff. Outside OC as well.

I don't know the particulars of why the Steelers hired Matt Canada, but putting forth a conspiracy theory about Tomlin's son getting a scholarship to Maryland being the key factor is a bit far-fetched. Tomlin takes home more money in a week than it costs to go to Maryland for four years. Think about it.
If you don't thin people with $ still don't like free stuff you haven't been around much. Nothing conspiratorial about it, how else can you explain hiring and keeping an OC as bad as Canaduh for 3 years? Go ahead, I'm listening.

The last 2 OC's we had are perceived "Tomlin Lackeys". People want the opposite. Yeah a lot of people want Tomlin gone and it comes out in the postings. Your triumverate isnt unreasonable. But based on last 2 OC hirings, people are jaded.
And I get that. I understand people being jaded. I understand people wanting Tomlin gone; for a variety of different reasons, including just that his time is up and he's gone stale here. The crazy part to me is the blaming the man for every aspect of everything. Just doesn't make sense.

Maryland has an acceptance rate of 52%. This ain't MIT or Stanford we're talking about here.
Dino got a full scholarship for playing football...have you seen his stats from MD? Not what I'd call "productive" yet he got a full ride for playing football.

First year, 1 rec for 7 yards. 2nd year, 2 rec for 12 yards., 0 TDs his career there. What a deal MD got for giving Dino a full ride, huh? Can't wait until Steeler draft him.

hard-headed ineptitude. Or, he ****** up.

No playoff wins in 7 years, does that make sense? We not only don't win any playoff games, we get routinely destroyed in them, in the last 5 we have given up, on average, 40+ points. That sound great for a defensive coach who spends more $ on D than any other team in the NFL. 40+ points. That's just wonderful.

I've been all around, chief. Yeah, I'm sure Tomlin was really concerned about that drop in his bucket. Half a week's salary for a full college education. Right on.

Why would he hire Canada? I don't know, but I do know that he also fired the guy before he fulfilled his contract, which hadn't been done in Pittsburgh in over 80 years. They've had shltty coordinators before, and they've never gotten fired. If MT owed Canada such a huge favor, why didn't he just let him move on at the end of the year, the same way it's been done since 1941, instead of embarrassing him with a mid-season dismissal? Go ahead, I'm listening.

It makes sense as a legitimate reason for wanting the man gone. I wouldn't have batted an eye if he was let go/traded/whatever and Rooney gave that as one of the reasons.

The Steelers are interviewing/have interviewed Jerrod Johnson, the Texans QB coach for the OC position today.
Didn't see that posted. If so, my apologies for being late to the party.

Now you're just showing your ignorance about how high school recruiting works. Dino Tomlin was a high 3-star prospect, and had several Division I offers other than Maryland, including Iowa State, Pitt, Army, and Toledo. He also had 4 offers from Ivy League schools. Lots of high 3-star recruits get many offers from all types of schools. Sometimes they turn into big-time contributors in college, sometimes they don't.

But, yeah, you have iron-clad proof of a conspiracy there. Carry on.

And the kid does have some skills...

I just think getting the family involved because one doesn't care for someone personally or professionally....is not kool..

Brett Favre is on line 3………

And all those school would just kill for his 3 receptions in 2 years! What a talent!

OK, we agree to agree on that.

Shades doesn’t need a scholarship for his kid to go to college, he can write a check, but he has a long track record of only hiring people he knows or worked with before. Duh recruited Shades’ kid AND he used to work at Pitt, so that makes him someone that Shades knows, which is the main job qualification around here.

I take it you missed the "fire Canada" chants at Steeler games and OTHER Pgh sporting events then? When they are chanting for your OC coach to be fired at Pens' games, I'd guess to say Rooney was embarrassed and ordered Shades to fire him, how much more obvious does it need to be to figure that one out?

And what an embarrassing qualification status that is. A professional coach using the "good ole boy" as his main method of running a team. What an @ss clown.

You obviously have yourself convinced it has to be a conspiracy, and no facts are going to stand in your way. I guess that's why you've omitted his 34 catches for nearly 500 yards the last two years, or that he's apparently good enough for Boston College to bring him in via the portal. Maybe they're in on it, too.

Yes, because fans chanting in the stands always prompts a change from team owners. Great point.

Never said that Tomlin knowing Canada wasn't a factor in his hiring. That's not just Shades, though. Hiring people you know or have coached with before is a common practice among many college staffs, and I'd imagine is the case with some other NFL head coaches.

So, about Jerrod Johnson. Other than the fantastic work he did with Stroud this year, anyone know anything about him? I guess, having worked under Slowik this past year, he has some understanding of the Shanahan offensive system.

Yea, his 34 receptions. in 2 years with 0 TDs at BC surely made Dino the envy of every college team out there. I can't wait until Tomlin drafts him to become a Steeler. Shades still thinks nepotism is the magic bullet to fielding a great team. Pure genius.

And you don't think the embarrassing chanting of fans chanting "Fire Canada" had anything to do with Canaduh being fired? I got some swampland for sale down here if your interested.

Ultimately he is where the buck stops. Cowher made an ultimatum. PICK DONAHOE or ME. So we know khan is not the last decision maker. He may have some input yes. We can put blame or credit on rooney if you want. I dont really give him credit for anything, except paying the checks, and keeping the franchise from being the Pirates or the Browns. But ultimately It's Tomlin where the buck stops. It has to be. If im Tomlin, and knowing i can get hired anywhere. How can i NOT get my way.

I hear Tyler Boyd wants to be a Steeler. Maybe in a 3rd roll take over Robinson's spot.

You make some valid points in a well thought out manner. And, for the most part I agree with what you're saying about the buck stopping with Tomlin. In my opinion, however, I find it misguided and somewhat simplistic and ultimately delusional when folks start breaking things down to "I like this candidate. He must be an Art pick" and "I dislike this candidate. He must be a Tomlin pick."
If the buck stops with Tomlin and he has as much control as Cowher did, then it seems to me that he also has the major impact on what candidates are being interviewed and ultimately which one will be offered the job; whether we like those candidates or not. Personally, I have a little more faith in Art's exerting a fair amount of control over the process. He's the owner. And after the Canada debacle, he better be watching out/overseeing this next hire.
