What I would do is look at the top 5 defenses and offenses. I would eliminate former HC's. I would eliminate a coordinator who is heavily deficient against /with the run or pass. I would see how long they excelled. How many seasons. I would see which ones were trending up. I would look at which ones could adjust after halftime. And the best of the best would get hired.

I'm not sure that list is all that great.
I might eliminate Kellen Moore (too young) and Ed Donatell (too old). I don't want George Edwards either (just been around too long, fired too many times, too many losing teams).
Now, for all those Cowher fans that want him involved with the organization again, would a combination of Cowher as VP of Operations and Brian Schottenheimer as HC work? Are Cowher and the Schottenheimers still friends? On good terms? Work together? It certainly would be a 180 degree change from Tomlin.
My favorite might be Kevin Stefanski. His background is very interesting. His dad was an NBA player and executive (I like that). He has an Ivy League education (Penn). Pennsylvania kid from Philadelphia. Good age (37). Coached a wide variety of positions (TE, RB and QB) and understands the nuances of each of those position in NFL system. Based on what he is doing in Minnesota is not pass-happy or thinks his scheme is above the players. He is fitting what he tries to do with the talent he has. Could be a very good match with Mason Rudolph as there are similarities in Rudolph's game and Kirk Cousins.
I think I could dig into more candidates outside the criteria asked of me, but Stefanski is high on my list and if I was an owner is definitely someone I would interview. His history with a dad in the sports executive world is very appealing to me. Means to me he could be a big thinker and not be so focused on the trees. I want a head coach that can understand the forest.
