Trubisky's passing chart - one completion over 20 yards, 5 behind LOS

I hear yaz BUT I think our defense is the highest paid defense in the NFL.

Salute the nation
My point being to spend some on the offense too, not JUST the D

But Shades is a “defensive guru” and wouldn’t want to have a weak D so all the money Obviously goes there. If he were really good seems like an even balance of money should be able to get the job done.

Once upon a time, Ben was getting sacked hundreds of times a year. Then along came Todd Haley and Leveon Bell, and when Ben got pressured, he just dumped it off to Bell. We also had the greatest 5 year receiver in the history of the league, who never ever quit on a play like DJ and Claypool. People raved about how great our offensive line had suddenly become, because the sack total went way down, and the young Bell was a special runner who could make something out of nothing. So there was no need to ever draft any linemen, right?

Bell and Brown turned into *** holes, but the genius in sunglasses had clearly fallen in love with the zero yard pass. No linemen were ever drafted early, Ben got hurt, and you get what we've had since the 2019 season opener, without an offensive adjustment since.
Ben Brown and Bell kept alot of people employed that didn't deserve it. Talent covers alot of warts.
They had the best RB and WR talent in the league and a hall of fame QB, and a coach that still couldn't win.
Alot of people on here thought the killer Bee's were easily replaceable including the front office and the owners.
Now we have a journeymen QB, the worst rushing offense in the league, and subpar coaching.
Starting Kenny, replacing the coaches would be a good start, but there is no easy fix for this team.

To think nobody saw this coming is laughable.

The positives so far
We should be 0-2

Maybe Trubisky simply doesn't have the strength to play any differently than he does, the Hail Mary was pathetic.

Is it Mitch, the o-line, route running, play calling? They seem to have a multitude of issues, but keep rolling out the same stuff hoping for a different outcome.

Shades is just a victim of players who don't execute his amazing game plan. Poor guy.

Well what do you know, Harris doesn't have any 20+ yard runs either. He is rated very low on what I call big plays as a runner or receiver ( 20 + yard plays ) compared to the other starting backs. Near last! The offense will continue to struggle is we don't hit BIG plays. END.

This Turbisky and Harris combination sucks! It sounds like a bad drink. Like the one the fans need to suffer though every Sunday.
Im not putting this on trubisky. Ben did the same damn thing last year. And this is a NEW QB with a NEW offense. Yes its Canadas, but i have to asssume there are more plays available than last year.
Need Mitch to stop throwing off his back foot though..

Regarding Harris. He has the tools But he is underwhelming. I dont know why you have to say "rated very low on what I call big plays as a runner or receiver" This is where you lose people.

He can't have a post without an I.

Why is so many on the band wagon Mitch is in control and calling plays. Did you get his message at post game when drilled over and over about pass plays....when they are called, we will use them. No plays over the middle ask Tomlin who ignores the questions and Canada if you know who he is. Canada calls the plays. Coaches should be the ones question and placed on the be replaced banket. Canada is treating Mitch as if he is a rookie. Please what does this team have to lose open it up. Steelers aren't going anywhere this year.

I have not been impressed with Najee honestly. I know that the line has not been great but he also doesn't seem to have great vision. Warren seems to be doing better with his limited opportunities.

Who knows who's good and who's not with the crap show we have going on. No single person seems to be failing purely based on their own merits. Everyone is hampered by Canada who is a terrible football coach and his offense has no business being in the NFL. It makes more sense in college for lots of reasons. Now you mix his ideals with Tomlin wanting to play safe (by his own admission) and its like putting a triple pair of handcuffs on each offensive player.

Sadly a lot of things seem to be making sense now and also confirming a lot of theories about just how bad of a football coach Tomlin is. I mean the guy is probably a nice guy, great to hang out with and have a beer with but as a football guy if he could move up to the level of sucking as a coach it would be a improvement.

He's not calling the plays. Just like last week, they are playing in their fears and not throwing downfield. Heck, Muuth can get open all day in the middle yet his longest completion was 8 yards. They practiced the long throws down the sideline all through camp yet we have seen none in 2 games.
It seems that 'Muth is the only dude that knows how to sit down in the zone coverage the pats****** played all day....and it looked like Biscuits isn't very good at reading zone.

The failure to throw the ball down field is exasperating.

In fairness Bell rarely had any 20yrd runs. He was slow as molasses. I guarantee a prime Bell would go nowhere with this line. There are almost no holes and guys are getting hit at the line or behind the line. With Bells patient style he would get hit before he even attempted to wait for the "hole"

The problem could be one ultra conservative coach up top that hires completely inept coaches on offense and makes almost zero investment in the OL believing weapons are the solution (weapons that remain in the holster no less).
Agree 100%. The best, most expensive weapons in a war are a POS without all the other parts to support their use.

The hail mary was sad but llamar also threw a crap hail mary from about 50yrds. I think Mitch easily has the strongest arm in the team it was just poor execution. he probably forgot how to throw the ball the ball past 5yrds

Comparing Harris to Bell. Literally the statistically worst Starting RB in the league to the best RB in the league when he was a Steeler.
Harris has, no vision, no burst just alot of hesitation and 2.9 ypc. He looks so indecisive running the ball. A solid pass catcher, decent stiff arm but runs into his own blockers way too often.

Can't disagree, but to be fair, those back-camera shots of him running toward the OL would leave me wondering where to run as well. There can be a hole, and in .42 seconds it slams shut. When Bell had his head screwed on correctly, I think he could've done a little bit better, but not much with what we have. It honestly looks like a junior-high OL to me.

I wanna see Pickett play. If Kenny can't deal with our mess either, then there's next year's draft. Screw it - we've made our bed. Wasn't that the QB class that's supposed to be better than this one?

It’s all fun and games until Rudy finally escapes the ineptness of the Fichtner/Canada offenses and shows he is a legit NFL starter while we keep traveling back in time to days before the forward pass was even a thing.

Hope the guy after Canada actually has a clue and is allowed to operate outside the confines of “Shades house of fears”

Until then we just keep playing extreme Marty ball so close to the vest that any single error all but kills any chance of winning…great strategy by the “brain trust”

So now we have the most conservative and least physical offenses ever seen. Maybe spend a little money on both sides of the ball too?

Well these things and we don’t have a HOF QB covering up the warts anymore.
The Steelers invest heavily into the skill positions and don't use them.

What's the point if you don't trust the guys to make plays? So you draft a running back in the first round and he's leaving yards on the table again this year and you've yet to commit to build a power blocking offensive line. Your OC doesn't belong in the NFL and the OL coach has a mediocre track record.

The offensive philosophy is whack. All I know is what they are doing every week won't cut it to win games. I thought they'd open up more this year with a different QB. I was wrong. On top of it, they don't have Ben's fourth-quarter magic to bring them back in games like yesterday.

My point is Bell had a better Oline and much better offense in general and was only able to have 1 or 2 20yrd runs / yr. You put Bell on this team he would be lucky to average positive yrds. Bell could not wait for a hole to open because it just would not be there no matter how patient he was. Look what happened when he went elsewhere. A bull dozing back that can just plow through people might be our only hope.

Tomlin likes to " keep it close" until the 4th quarter.

I blame Ben.

I know sarcasm but............... Many a many have done just that. BEN would have won that game against the cheatriots. The flaw in the system is O'Canada and Coach Tomlin. Until those things change I'm afraid we are in the same BIZZARO world we have been in for quite some time now.

Also noting the Steelers are dead last in first downs. The team won't win many games if that statistic doesn't improve. I find it hard to believe Pickett couldn't improve in that area.

Bell made the line look good, not the other way around. That line never had the same production in the rushing game the season Bell sat out and Conner took over. Just the facts

Harris needs to be more decisive. He tries to be patient like Bell but doesn't have the tools to make it work. He looks like he doesn't process the information fast enough, or maybe just doesn't have the vision? Jaylen Warren could turn out to be a better pure runner than Harris and it wouldn't surprise me.
