I doubt either one of them actually wrote those.

House Democrats walked out on a moment of silence for the Orlando victims because House Republicans refuse to consider a gun ban and insist on tightening immigration, which Democrats oppose. Congress's approval rating is nine percent. To put that in perspective, Cosby's at ten percent.

According to the Social Security Administration, the most popular baby names in 2016 are Noah and Emma. Least popular baby names? Donald and Hillary.

Bernie Sanders is set to meet with Hillary Clinton this evening. Bernie said the meeting will give Hillary one last opportunity to bow out gracefully.

The world is going to **** and quickly. We are too worried about helping way overpopulated areas of the world instead of ourselves. All these actors and actresses who ask for donations should use their own millions if they really want to help. Starvation and disease is terrible, but there are simply too many people trying to live in an area. Also funneling money to other countries who should be able to support themselves is cutting into money we could be spending in America. We could save billions of dollars just cutting back some aid.
America needs to get back to its roots. If some pepoles feelings get hurt then so be it. We can not please everyone and if they do not like it then they can go live somewhere else.
Aso for Isis I think it can be controlled over time with the proper actions. What I don't understand is how these people live here in nice houses, hold down jobs, have a family, and still want to kill innocent people and die. It just shows how deranged these people are. I guarantee how they are living here is much better conditions than where they came from.

Right, and who has been running the educational system from top to bottom for the last 50 years?

Are you serious? Did Tibs post an article intimating that Bammy is eloquent? Captain Can't Speak Without a Teleprompter?

Sorry, I refuse to read any bullshit from Salon, so I willfully skipped reading that garbage.

At some point you have to wonder if Trump is even trying to win. The media has backed off his exposure a bit and Trump seems to have no campaign. He should be ramping his campaign up, but either it is totally unorganized or he just does not care and expects to get by. The Republican party is not helping. It is time he changed his ways or he will get absolutely destroyed by whoever he runs against. Hopefully Hillary will be in jail so I won't have to look at / listen to her voice for 4 years.

Trump fires his campaign manager...right on cue.

Trump had two bad weeks. He should be talking about jobs and taxes more often. At one point he had a slight lead, not Clinton is about 6% ahead of him.

Get back on the message Donald, and make sure Ryan says he's on board. The lack of unity between the two isn't helping.

The good news is Hillary is the weakest Democratic candidate for president since Mike Dukakis.

you racist *******
Barry could very well have copied that from the teleprompter

But only the Electoral college count matters, right?

Who cares about the popular vote???

I disagree wholeheartedly. If popular vote was all that counted for President, the smaller states, which are somewhat ignored now, will be ignored completely.

How do you figure...with a popular vote every vote counts. With the electoral vote. If you vote for the state loser your vote is essentially wasted.

Popular vote = pure democracy = mob rule

We have a representative democracy, the way the founding fathers designed it

Let's say 2 million people in PA vote. If 999,999 vote for Trump, and 1,000,001 vote for Hillary she will get all the delegates and the 999,999 people have no say. If they do the delegate system it should not be all or nothing. In my example if PA has 50 delegates 26 would goto hillary and 24 to trump.

Wall Street cash or Elizabeth Warren: Hillary's choice

Wall Street has an unambiguous message for Hillary Clinton: Don't pick Elizabeth Warren as your vice president if you want to keep getting our money.

That warning came through very clearly in over a dozen interviews I did over the last week with some of the largest Democratic donors on Wall Street who have helped fund Clinton's campaigns over the years as well as funneled cash to Bill Clinton's political career in the 1990s.

"If Clinton picked Warren, her whole base on Wall Street would leave her," one top Democratic donor who has helped raise millions for Clinton told me. "They would literally just say, 'We have no qualms with you moving left, we understand all the things you've had to do because of Bernie Sanders, but if you are going there with Warren, we just can't trust you, you've killed it.'".

Her bosses have spoken.."We own you"

You are talking about how States allocate their delegates. Some are not, all or nothing and I do NOT support pro-rata as that devolves into popular vote on the national level.

With Popular Vote, you will end up with the higher population sections (New England, California, OH, Philadelphia and Miami) electing our president. It won't be quite that bad (NY, CA, OH, PA and FL already have a big hand in the decision), but it will be close to it.

There are several states which have a total of 1 million votes or less. They will be ignored. Worse than they are now.

I can't imagine any scenario in which popular vote is more better.

The founding fathers ON PURPOSE did not make our democracy mean all votes are equal.

They very clearly wanted a Union of States, each governing themselves as autonomous as possible. And they very clearly wanted to give those states with smaller populations as much equality to big states as possible while maintaining some semblance of a democratic system.

It's arguably this alone that makes our Constitution and our structure of government better (by far) than any other in the world. The whole POINT is that all votes are not equal and never have been and that it purposely protects the small states from the big states. This balance of power is what truly "governs" our country and puts immense pressure on the big states to pay attention and consider the "small guy" in our every growing government.

God without the Senate and the electoral college, our whole country would just be run by population and economic centers for their own benefit and rural America would be **** on every step of the way.

I am so strongly in favor our our State/Senate/Electoral College system that I would strongly recommend it for every new wannabe democracy. And in fact if Iraq had followed this template of creating more power for the smallest of regions in their country some of the in-fighting and power problems between Shia/Sunni/Kurds would likely have been avoided. But the majority Shia (which live in the population/economic power areas) refused to follow this template and refused to cede that type of power to the smaller region/states of Iraq and now you see what happens.

I PRAY to God (even if I don't believe in one) that our country never loses sight of the importance this system has in the overall balance of power we create between population centers and rural America.

Authorities: Man at Vegas rally said he wanted to kill Trump

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A federal officer says a man arrested at a Donald Trump rally in Las Vegas told authorities he tried to grab an officer’s gun so he could kill the candidate.

A complaint filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Nevada charges Michael Steven Sandford with an act of violence on restricted grounds.

Hillary/Bernie campaigns must be held accountable for such violent acts

I understand your argument Del but I have to shade it a bit. The population centers most definitely still have the advantage even though the founders tried to ease the pain. Many regions in several States, that I know of, have tried to create new cities, counties and even states to escape the taxing bodies that they pay into because they were way under-represented and had to support those entities without a voice in the matter.

For example...

Two counties in northern California have submitted a petition for the right to form a 51st State of America, which they want to name Jefferson. They claim a lack of representation and that their grievances aren’t heard at state level

The citizens of Modoc and Siskiyou have become disillusioned with the state legislature as they believe they are underrepresented in Sacramento. The two communities are traditionally staunchly Republican and feel alienated by the state’s policies, which tend to cater for a large percentage of the population, which is traditionally liberal and votes Democrat.

Towns gobbling up the burbs for their tax revenue is constant

STOCKTON -- In this tiny Alabama community, folks don't care much about the city life and all the amenities that come with it. That is why there is a grassroots effort here trying to convince Alabama's 2.7 million voters to support Statewide Amendment 3 on Tuesday. It would create the Stockton Landmark District, which would be protected from forced annexation.

In Atlanta its turned into an art form....mo money.

(APN) ATLANTA — Atlanta’s boundaries are growing, as more unincorporated neighborhoods in DeKalb and Fulton Counties are successfully annexing into the City of Atlanta, opting to use the petition method provided for by Georgia law, instead of seeking voter referendum.

While all these people fight to stay out of the city grasp, they lower the chance of making a difference in sharing their opinions.

I'm no political scientist by any stretch, but I can't wrap my brain around the argument that there is a better way to elect a president than by counting all the votes in the whole country and electing the person who has the most at the end. Wouldn't that mean every vote has the chance to really matter? Every sporting contest is decided by the rule " whoever has the most points when the clock shows zero wins the game". Why that isn't the way we run elections escapes me. But that's me....

Exactly

"Democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where 51% of the people may take away the rights of the other 49%."
