Tuitt Retired

damn the whining won't stop

No one on this board knows the intimate details of what has been going on in Tuitt's life

None of you know what the Steelers or Tomlin or Colbert or Tuitt himself have been thinking or planning or issues they are dealing with

In my opinion, the Steelers figured this was the likely outcome and were preparing for it

As I said before, some of you are acting like banged your mom and didn't call back. Get over it. He is a player, well ex-player on a football team. He did not set out to hurt you. You will get passed this, day by day the feelings will subside....or they won't

Players come and go. Tuitt leaving like this sucks, but this does not compare to the AB bullshit of ******* up his trade value and throwing stones on the way out the door

Respect the players right to make the best decision for himself and get the hell over it

I said this many times. The Steelers should have taken control of the Tuitt situation when last season ended. They should have been having regular meetings (monthly) with him to discuss him coming back and for him to show/prove he was training and getting ready for this upcoming season. If they would have been doing that, they would have been able to see his desire wasn't fully there and he, more than likely, wasn't training hard. So, we are where we are. Do we have more 200-yard rushing games against us coming up this season? Maybe.

A lot of time us FANs don't have privy to all the information but some of the time all the information isn't needed.

I fully agree they should have done more for contigency purposes wether they knew or not.

RE-action instead of PRO-action, seems to be the theme a lot.

This is my feelings on how the Steelers miss handled the situation. My thoughts on Tuitt are a separate issue.

What he was feeling is irrelevant. Like Trog said...Shazier's and Tuitts situations are entirely different. Not a single fan objecting to Shazier getting paid should be a loud and clear indication of that.
How are they different??? Both players were impacted by tragedy. Shazier's was on the field and Tuitt's off the field.

Some of you really need to take a closer look at the term 'loss'. Tragedy/loss impacts everyone differently - to think Tuitt stole money from the Steelers is ludicrous...

Should read OTA. My bad but you should have been sharp enough to know what I intended to type in.

Tuitt if he should have told Tomlin before he announced it that he was retiring. Tomlin acted as if there was a chance he's come back. I think he wasn't being forthcoming with the media.
"Sharp enough to know what you INTENDED to type"??? That's ******* funny...

An argument could be made that If Tuitt cared that deeply for his brother he'd be in Black and Gold, because the odds are that this is what his brother would have wanted....as opposed to scamming the organization then quitting. He took advantage of his brothers death.
How does anyone 'know what Tuitt's brother would have wanted him to do'??? That's just throwing monkey **** against the wall because it's been said many times in the past - no one 'knows' that for sure...

C'mon man.

Kuechly decided to retire, no one called him a selfish prick. Tuitt does the same and it is like he spit on some people's mothers.

I get kuechly didnt miss all the previous season but people are acting like he owes them something. Last time I saw it was a free country, same goes for the Steelers organization deciding how to take care of their players, maybe they act differently depending of stardom status (as some say that if it were a fringe roster player he would have been cut a long time ago), but heck, we are talking about a Pro Bowl player here that has been very productive when healthy on a very fair deal for both sides. Imagine having 2 years of a healthy Tuitt at 12M avg, that's cheap for his talent.

What could possibly make you think the Steelers saw this coming and were preparing for it? Why would they seemingly lie to the fans about Tuitt’s expected return and not address DL in free agency or the draft?

Well they did draft a DL

so in your mind the Steelers are too stupid to have seen this as a possiblility?

not even the lions FO is that dumb

let the **** go already

Shazier was severely physically injured doing what the Steelers paid him to do, Shazier suffered emotionally as well. He couldn’t have played no matter how much he wanted to.

Tuitt suffered emotionally but was able to go back and finish his degree instead of playing.

Tuitt didn’t steal from the Steelers, he quit without letting them know about it.

They drafted a DL in the third round because Alualu and Heyward are on the wrong side of 30.

What did the Steelers ever say to express doubt about Tuitt’s return? Just a couple weeks ago Alualu and Heyward were saying he was returning.

Tomlin did say: "No update. Nothing has changed."

why do they have to share everything they know with you?

I’m asking you what did they say to make you think they were doubtful about Tuitt’s return. It would have been very relevant to the months long conversation on this board regarding the matter.

I didn't follow the story day to day, so I don't ******* know

any sane person would have been doubtful of his return so I would truly hope they were also

Really this. Nobody needed to read the tea leaves. Hell early on into the process I even threw out about the time off factor in players coming back. Well this player had yet another injury and a horrific tragedy to deal with. As a team you have to realize the odds aren't great with the time he missed and the circumstances surrounding it. There was some wishful thinking but you will get that with teammates and somewhat with coaches. They naturally hope for a return until they hear otherwise. The plethora of no updates really factored in me doubting his return. As did the house selling and the workout reports. Nothing made me think Tuitt was full speed ahead. Nobody should have thought that. Hoped that sure, but common sense painted a clearer picture for those putting the puzzle pieces together.

Tuitt came into the league very young and played how many years?
We need to accept this and move on.

So many changes on the team this year it’s really hard to gauge where we are.

No, I don't think you do get it. Kuechly didn't miss any of the previous season, starting each and every one of the 16 games and playing 96% of the defensive snaps. He retired the following offseason due mostly to ongoing concussion concerns, and saved the Panthers $3.7 million against the cap in the process.

Bad comparison, because the two situations are not close to being similar.

If the Steelers were doing this, it would have been pretty obvious the chances of him coming back at all were very low. If they saw this and still did nothing then Rooney, Tomlin and Colbert need to be held fully accountable for the situation as they did nothing about it for this coming season. They are just hoping some of their mid to late-round picks are going to pan out. Pointing the finger squarely at Tomlin, Colbert, and Rooney should be expected. And, no, drafting Leal was not in hopes of him taking Tuitt's spot this year. Leal is still a project. We can hope to get some backup reps out of him this year but not much more. I guess we'll find out a little more when we hear these guys talk about Tuitt, if they even will. Everything we've heard points to the team and even his closest friends on the team turning the other way and ignoring the fact he didn't show any signs of wanting to play again.

I just said it was not the same situation

id he say "PoPcorn" / "Obviously" / "Tape your eye lids open"

If not, then he wasn't serious.................................
