Very positive article about the Steelers D

Not quite sure about the guy writing the article. I seriously doubt that Cam Thomas is going to be the starting NT or even contend there. I think he was brought in to play end and be a NT in a pinch. I do not have the high hopes for him. I do like Tuitt. I also like some of the lesser known guys to be bigger than expected (Arnfelt and others). So, I like the line, especially what they did with the edges (Tuitt and Heyward).

Jones should be better this year. Not sure why he tabs him as a LOLB since Worilds is much better on the left than the right, but that falls under sloppy writing. I also wonder how Timmons will fit sliding over and being the man. Probably see some growing pains for a little while with this group of linebackers, but they have made the youth push, which was needed.

I do like Mitchell a ton, not so sure he takes Troy's role as the playmaker, more like a faster Clark, but a faster Clark is really good if you have a healthy Troy. Corner is still iffy, but a pass rush and better safeties can help the corners a ton.

I would not put great expectations on this group. They will need some time to settle in and grow. Defense will likely be better in the future, even with the departure of Taylor and Polamalu, not because they were not great players, but because the supporting cast will have improved over what they had last season.

Thanks Slaine. Nothing would make me happier than seeing our D get back on track. So many reasons for optimism....my favorite addition is Mike Mitchell. This kid can not only replace Clark but be another impact guy for LeBeau to scheme with. Looking forward to seeing how he fits in, along with the rebuilt D line. Man, September can't get here soon enough.

It's hard to take seriously a guy that doesn't know what positions the LBs played. Worilds was horrible at ROLB. So bad that they benched him and played a rookie in Jones. He didn't have a breakout year as Harrison's replacement. He did much better as Woodley's replacement. Even the sack on Brady was a horrible play to show his great play. Brady had all day to throw and Worilds had dropped into a zone coverage. He wasn't even rushing the passer. Brady ran right at him and fell to the ground because he didn't want to get hit. Just seemed like lazy writing and very little study about the players.

I was thinking the same as I read this. Sometimes it seems like the writers at NFL.com publish stories without doing anything more than surface research.

Just like projecting Cam to NT, when really until Tuitt gets comfy there is nobody with enough experience to man the DE position opposite Heywood.. You almost have to start out with Cam unless Arnfelt / Tuitt shows enough to beat him out. Would be slightly surprised with this thought process early out of the gates.........

Sure would be something though, both rookies contributing right away.
