One of the striking things, is how many terrible picks were made. I guess that is the norm, but it seemed striking as I watch this.

http://www.nfl.com/draft/history/fulldraft?season=2011 - on a 1-10 rating basis, with 10 being the best socre.

1 Carolina Panthers Cam Newton QB Auburn - 9, headed towards 10
2 Denver Broncos Von Miller LB Texas A&M - 10
3 Buffalo Bills Marcell Dareus DT Alabama - 7
4 Cincinnati Bengals A.J. Green WR Georgia - 10
5 Arizona Cardinals Patrick Peterson DB LSU - 10
6 Atlanta Falcons Julio Jones WR Alabama - 10
7 San Francisco 49ers Aldon Smith LB Missouri - Would have been a 10 if not for booze issues. 8.
8 Tennessee Titans Jake Locker QB Washington - 2. Already retired from league, after doing nothing beforehand.
9 Dallas Cowboys Tyron Smith T USC - 10
10 Jacksonville Jaguars Blaine Gabbert QB Missouri - 1. He is just terrible. How do you miss THIS badly this high?

Would you agree you expect your picks to be pretty solid through the 3rd round? 2011 wasn't.

Nick Fairley an 8?! A beast for a while?!
Did you actually watch him play in the NFL?
He was/is SAWFT and WEAK.
Total bust and overhyped.

I really do not know if the bust/failure rate of the 2011 draft was any worse than other drafts.

That top half of the first round was one of the best ever, even considering the flops at QB, IMO.

I believe 10 of the top 15 picks have been Allpros in the league.

JJ Watt and Von Miller may go down as two of the best defenders ever when it's all said and done.

That top 5 might end up being better than 1989's Aikman/Mandarich/Barry Sanders/Derrick Thomas/Deion Sanders

JJ Watt and Von Miller are two of the premier defensive players in the league right now. Can't low ball our guy in Cam Heyward so thanks for giving him a 10. He may not wow you on the highlights but he is a key part of this Steelers defense. And I'm ok with that. Speak softly and carry a big stick.

Another fave of mine to watch is Patrick Peterson. Ideal height, weight, not the fastest but is smart to make up for his speed

funny I look forward to the draft every year. always take off and watch. Now that it is 3 days it is harder to do but I still figure out how to watch most of it.. admittedly I get bored sometime around the 6th rd.

I could not imagine any circumstance that I would rewatch draft from years gone by.

Heck yeah it was. **** I thought this thread was sarcastic. I watched the replays of 2012, '13, 14, and '15 also. The 2011 draft in questions was by FAR the best of any of those in terms of not having high first round busts and possibly the best I have ever seen. A couple of those other drafts were just horrible. I watched 2011 and thought, "Goddamn, teams were nailing these picks". It was Superstar after Superstar. That never happens.

This is a fantastic example of skewed draft expectations and why people are always bitching about our picks never working out. The probabilities of one team having several good players in a draft are not good at all. That 2011 draft was off the charts at least to start off. So many people's drafting expectations are just not realistic.
