Watson to Browns

If Watson can play, this is an outstanding move for the Browns. Unless they completely botch the situation, this should put the Browns in a winning position for the next five years. Franchise QBs are so important and I'm surprised so many are dismissing this move unless you don't believe Watson is that good.

I don’t think Watson is that good. They are treating him like a star. He never proved anything beyond being pretty good. Why not just go for Russell Wilson if you are willing to part with so much?

Watson is really, really good. However, when a team is absolutely hammered by the cap, they better draft well since good players on the OL and the skill position players cost a ton on the 2nd contract if they are any good. When the team has traded its best pick for three years running, it is now limited in the draft. It then has a really, really good QB, a declining OL, skill position players not as good as the rest of the teams in the division, and no draft picks to fix the defects.

I just know there is many factors mixed in with many questions. What's the year off do to his wheels? Will he be suspended further highlighting that time off. What does the loss of 5 picks do to a team that just threw a boatload of guaranteed money at one player? What distractions come from his civil cases mixed with Baker's ****** treatment?

Not like Watson isn't a solid QB he is.

But there is some significant concerns.

So if and when the Steelers get another franchise QB, they shouldn't re-sign him because he'll cost a lot against the cap? Everyone will look at three first rounders, well one of them was just used to "draft" a QB, so it was really just two first-round picks. If they have success with Watson, no one is going to care about those picks.

Definitely a lot of factors go into this move. However, if Watson plays to his ability, Cleveland will have themselves in contention with a star QB at the helm. Also, this is a team that has been a dumpster fire for two decades, they needed a different approach and made a bold move to try to advance the franchise forward.

I put my money on them continuing on their historic fails within the factory of sadness. If those wheels aren't the same we know that can impact. So I am curious if he regains form. If he does they will be competitive. Buttttt I don't think they will be more than that like in the big dance more than that. Always could be wrong but not hard to see some handcuff possibilities.

There's many pieces that go into winning a super bowl and having a "franchise" qb can be one of them, but not necessary.

Before this season Matt Stafford never won a playoff game. Rodgers only has one Super Bowl ring. That's the same as Trent Dilfer, Nick Foles, Brad Johnson and Joe Flacco. And one more than Marino.

Although it's probably sacrilege to say, and I did love him, I think Ben hamstrung the Steelers and probably prevented them from winning more Super Bowls by eating up so much salary cap.

I for one am not dismissing this move but am factoring in the Factory of sadness that goes with it. That is a lot of investment for a guy that's been out of the game for a year and still has leagal ramifications to deal with. Add in the possible suspension (which I think will be time served) and injury pissivility plus CAP ramifications. They won't be drafting in the top 5 anymore and won't be able to bring in big time FAs as in the past.

Yes Watson brings a way better QB play to their table but the sucktitude of that franchise negates a portion of that better play.

Pittsburgh defenses have been able to contain division QBs and I don't see Watson straying to far out of that box.

One thing is clear. This is the move of a coach and GM feeling they have 1 more year to make a serious Super Bowl run or get fired.

This and our glass house could be viewed as well. I don't think Tomlin is on that hot seat yet but could be the closer his contract comes to expiring if he doesn't show more than he has been showing.

CAP space and Colberts last huraHHHHHhh

Not completely a coincidence the Steelers won two Super Bowls in his rookie contract, none since.

And in a related move the Cleveland Browns have imported their entire training staff from Thailand. But they say more of the staff is actually lady boys then trafficked individuals.

Bob kr*ft wants some of that action

those preaching about what a frranchise qb means to a team

how many playoff wins does this "franchise qb" have?

I think he is a very good qb, but he is not going to carry a team
28-26. Winners win. I could be wrong. I've been wrong. I will be wrong a couple other times tonight. But I would bet pretty heavily this will completely blow up in their face. Like **** yourself for another decade kinda miss.
And honestly I don't see any team wrestling the division away from Cincinnati for a couple years. So what is this getting them.

well I hear the browns fans like things to blow up on their faces

Tough to know where Mitch will place, but damn the AFC is LOADED w/young QB talent. The Steelers have a very nice squad right now, but def' not a team w/a top 10 AFC qb. That could change, other things come into play yearly that upset the curve, but ****. This isn't what I want to see.
On the surface, this could be bad for the Steelers. Watson has had one of the better starts to a career from a passer rating and yards per pass standpoint. He's also extremely mobile.

He has an elite ceiling, but there is a decent amount of baggage and risk there as well.

Strictly from a football performance and accomplishment up to this point perspective, Trubisky ranks a distant fourth in the AFCN.

The division is the Bengals to have for awhile if they can fully capitalize on what they have in Burrow. He could be another Peyton Manning/Tom Brady, with much more mobility.

Those thinking a year suspension may be off a little. Remeber he hasn't played for a year and that will be a part of the suspension if any.

I bet he gets 6 or less (if any) or time served.

It shouldn't count, though. He was sitting because of Houston, not the league. If the league ever wants to get out of their showing favoritism, etc. and show even a little consistency, he has to be suspended for way more than Ben got. Ben had 2 accusations and it never made it past the police investigation. Watson had north of 20 accusations, I believe. Ben got 6 games reduced to 4. Even if you double Watson's (but should be more like 5 times what Ben got), he is sitting for half a year. Hopefully, Goddell shows some balls and some consistency.

This is way too beautiful. The Stains will screw it up. He might do time for goodell or some state, anyway.
Yeah I had a good chuckle when I read the 230 was gauranteed. Good to see the turds F themselves for the foreseeable future:ROFLMAO:
