The Steelers are certainly bad enough to lose their last four games to good opponents. What if there are a couple more embarrassments like the Bengals game and tonight's debacle, and the Steelers finish 1-7-1 in their last 9 games?

Would Tomlin ever consider retiring along with Ben? Would he be smart enough to call it quits before further jeopardizing his legacy, and exposing himself in the coming years as a fraud?

That idea has crossed my mind in the past. He did say he had no intention of starting over with a rookie QB. If he doesn't get a veteran QB here's hoping.

No, because he doesn’t believe that he or his staff are doing anything wrong. He was asked in his presser tonight by Aditi whether there would be any coaching staff changes, and he said coaches don’t block, coaches don’t tackle, coaches don’t commit penalties. Anyone watching this team has to see the difference between the hurry up/no huddle offense and Canada’s offense, yet not Mike. That dumb ******* screen pass that we tried for the 2 point conversion had Canada written all over it. That has to be the dumbest play call in that spot that you can even try to explain. If the players overcome poor coaching and poor game plans, then we win. If we lose, it is the players fault for not being better. Responsibility and accountability counts for everyone but Tomlin.

I mean, I don't want to root for the Steelers to lose out, but in the event that they do, I'm hoping it could be a possibility. But I am thinking more and more that there might be something to the rumors about Rodgers (less likely) or Wilson (more likely) or another lesser quality veteran (worst-case scenario) ending up in Pittsburgh next season.

If either one of them saw the hits Ben tonight took they aren't coming anywhere near Pittsburgh.

Yeah, I've never seen so many missed blocking assignments by a professional football team. The Vikings weren't even blitzing...a high school JV line should be able to figure out how to block four guys. On one play they had three lineman blocking one defender, while two others came in untouched. Hard to watch. Najee needs to learn who to pick up at times, as well. I'm sure he will get better eventually.

Bingo.

Hell, there were hardly even stunting. And Trai Turner is supposed to be a veteran, he was the main culprit from what I watched.

The Vikings also had an advantage with the timing of the snap -- what's with Turner looking back at Ben and then tapping Green? Everybody and their grandmother knows exactly when that ball is going to move. Every time. I understand that they're trying to combat the crowd noise, but how rudimentary is that?

We should not have even attempted the 2 point attempt. The extra point keeps it a one score game but of course our genius failed and kept it a 2 score game. Guy is a mental midget but that gives retards a bad name.
No matter when they tried the 2 point play, if it failed, it was a 2 score game. If it had been converted, they could have gone for the win, with the 2nd score.

They've been doing that for many years
Has it been less pronounced in the past? Because it was blatantly noticeable last night.

Can't speak to how pronounced it is or isn't. I've just seen it for years.

Foster did it to Pouncey a lot.

No, if they had gotten it to 8 points, and scored a touchdown then failed, it would be a 2-point game.

Had they missed the second 2-point conversion, they would have had no shot to tie it at the end. That's why MB47 is correct -- you always wait to go for two until you absolutely have to.

Maybe they had a more balanced approach as far as mixing up the timing. Green was just so robotic with it most of the night, the Vikings were all over it.

That’s your opinion, I happen to think differently. One of the two had to be converted, NO MATTER WHAT. By making the first one, it gives you the option of going for the win on the second. Kicking on the first only gives you a chance to tie. Failing either means you lose, just like they did. The D giving up the last TD hurt much more than the missed 2 point attempt

The cardinal rule of football is to never make it a 2 score game. But of course Tomlin eschews convention and goes with his fat gut. He never lives in his fears unless it makes practical sense. The guy is a dumbass.

Again, if you fail on the first, it THEN becomes a 2 score game. And you play accordingly. If you fail on the second at the end, you lose.

If not for the D failure on the last TD, the plan was working. Without that TD the FG for the win, was still a very high probability.

They went for 2 after scoring 3 straight times on the Vikings in 5 minutes of game time. The Vikings defense at that point had likely been on the field for something like 20 of the last 25 real time minutes. Given how gassed some of the Vikings players likely were, you gotta go for 2 there. Just don’t call such a terrible play.

If they spend the two first round picks on either of these two guys to continue to hide Tomlin's incompetent coaching I'm gonna have to take a hiatus until he is gone.

You don't go for two until you have to. They were down 15 could have cut it to 8 and needlessly went for two at that point. But that was on Ben. He threw up the two fingers and Tomlin deferred.
