Exactly.
The rationale behind Tomlin's decision to not go for it on 4th and goal was directly contradicted by the decisions he made earlier in the game and this season, let alone his entire tenure with the Steelers.
As reflective of what I spoke to earlier, I do not buy the Roethlisberger concussion excuse, as Tomlin had no issue letting Jones throw off the bench in crucial situations earlier in the game/season.
The guy just retrospectively makes **** up to justify all the stupid **** he does. There is no accountability within this head coach, as it's ALWAYS the "we're" falling short, and being "below the line.'
Hey, Mikey, how about you own some of your own **** at some point?
Tomlin thought it was a good idea and was confident enough to put Landry in to pass on the 4th down fake FG, so why not put it in Landry's hands on 4th down at the 3? Tomlin is throwing darts, making **** it up as he goes. His gut is full of dog ****.
That right there is WHY we SHOULD HAVE GONE FOR IT. NO MATTER, WE WOULD HAVE BEEN DEPENDING ON OUR DEFENSE TO GET A STOP.
a). Go for it and don't make it, it is still 27-32. Down by 5, Seattle is pinned deep and will most likely run, run, pass. We are depending on our defense to get a stop.
b). Go for it and make it, it is then 33 (or 35 if we make the 2pt conv) to 32. Up by 1 (or 3), we kick off (**short kickoff**), then Seattle gets to the 25-35 yard line. We are depending on our defense to get a stop to win the game.
If you are going to go for the win (against San Diego) when you have a SURE tie to send it to overtime, the RIGHT CALL is to go for the win when you are 3 yards out and in position to take the lead.
** The SHORT KICKOFFS is a whole other topic. WHY THE **** can't we kick the ball out of the endzone??? Force the touch back. We all know our coverage unit is not that good and PRONE to mental errors. I'd be willing to bet some $$$ that Boz is being instructed by Tomlin to kick short to try to pin them inside the 20. **** that, we can't hardly ever pin them inside the 20, so why not kick it out of the endzone?
