Maybe our WR room isn't as bad as we deem it to be, on paper???

Would we not send "shock and awe" across the league IF we made a splash move for a legitimate RT???

Follow the logic...

If we go that way, you can move Broderick Jones back to LT and you'd have a solid OL until Troy comes back.

Ok - discuss...

This is what I'm sayin.....maybe the reason the Steelers haven't made a move for a WR is because maybe they don't feel like they need to.

As far as the rest, I think Jones is playing his way out of Pittsburgh. He has been inconsistent, hasn't played especially well for the better part of this season so far, so he may be the odd man out when all is said and done.

I originally felt Van Jefferson would be a decent add. His work ethic when getting here was apparently off the charts doing things that AB used to do and no one outworked AB. If Austin can improve as well - although his easy first down drop was not pretty. It was a good throw that he had both hands on and just dropped it without being touched. That can't happen.

I think one of the keys to going to Russ before the Bye was to properly evaluate the WR corps before the trade deadline..

And I love the idea of seeing How jones looks at LT, but Im not sure they will make any moves there. They really love Dylan Cook's potential... before trading for a guy they probably put him in at RT... but I dont get the feeling they will displace moore barring an injury

I am not down on Jones as much as others. He is banged up and playing on a side he is less comfy with. Ok with bringing in T depth but not at the expense of addressing WR.

I think the Steelers have enough quality WRs. in Smiths offense it would be a waste to trade for another good WR.

Van Jones can go **** himself on The View. aside from that, I believe you're referring to Van Jefferson.

They don’t have a number 2 WR.

Okay I can follow you here but who would you target. I agree the WR room may be good enough. Pickens truly is a star. If we shored up the O-Line and gave more protection; Najee might really start tearing it up.

As long as it's NOT requiring the Steelers give up a second or third round draft pick.

They've been hitting well with those picks. The JPJ pick was an absolute steal at the top of the second.

I am not 100 sure

Im not totally disagreeing, but id understand if they wanted insurance in case Pickens gets hurt... because anyone can be a 2 here without too much of a dropoff, but nobody could be a 1 yet imo...

If Najee and the run-game rolls, that instantly elevates the passing game / WRs.

Salute the nation

I don't know. Seems every time one of our QBs(since Ben) throws a pass there is always a defender right beside them. Is that a RT issue? Scheme issue? Do teams know what we are doing? Austin's catch this past week was the first catch by a player of ours where he was simply wide open(coverage break down prossibly). There may have been others. I just don't remember them.

Other teams seem to be able to scheme open WRs against our defense weekly.

Maybe they have an elite RT. I don't know. I guess it is what it is.

I can't wait for the offseason so the Steelers can fix Moore's shorter leg via elevated shoes or lifts so that the guys picked to replace him can, you know, get a shot at replacing him.

The Steelers WR depth stinks. The idea for the RT isn't too bad, but Jones stinks on the right side this year and I'd fully expect him to stink on the left side. He had very limited experience in college and was considered raw coming into the league, so I'm not giving up on him yet. He's probably gotten by on his size and athleticism his entire football career and that generally won't cut it in the NFL because the players are too talented.

It's amazing to me that NFL scouting departments (not just the Steelers with Jones, but generally speaking) fail to recognize this with so many players. They get enamored with measurables, and the next thing you know, it's like mass hysteria with clouded judgement on a guy. That being said, the Steelers have also done Jones no favors by playing him out of position.

It's almost as if they should have asked themselves the question. Why would Bill Belichik trade down and gift wrap a Franchise LT to the Steelers. When New England could have used one??
Easy
He wouldn't
Unfortunately
He didn't

Answer: cuz you can’t cheat the draft-Bill’s specialty is cheating…his draft record doesn’t make him some sort of guru, it’s average at best. He had no knowledge of how BJ will turn out

Now cheating, that’s something he excels at

Either way, Steelers obviously didn't have the knowledge either. Guy is a penalty machine

They do not view Moore as the weak link. We keep trying to replace. Not happening.
Kind of like Ward was playing. They tried to replace him many times, but Hines just wasn’t having it.

Moore seems to just be a slower steadily improving player, you can’t really ask for more. He could end up being her for 10+ years, and right now I’m fine with that. Now it Jones and the rookie settle whose is @RT and the other becomes a B/U, it is not the end of the world. Sure a 1st rounder is not where you want to get a B/U, but it is better than cutting him.

Still has potential, would be nice to see him both healthy and in his natural LT spot.

Can’t argue with him being a penalty machine this year. That has to be cleaned up, out of position or not.

I think they like him best at Left Tackle right now but he us gone at season end. It's just economics. They won't afford him when they have reasonable options on the roster. Soneone will pay. Not convinced he will be worth it..
