Which undrafted will step up and make the roster? and one you think will be cut

Really early, but that's the fun of it.

If yinz had to pick ONE undrafted player to surprise and make the roster this year who would it be.

And why?

I think besides RB and DE being on the thin side. a lot of areas could drop a fringe player if a undrafted player stepped up and shined.

I know later on in preseason sometimes a few can get a better feel for who will make it, but even then seemingly one always surprises. Or hell one you think is going to make it gets cut.

So let us go one question further....

Which player gets cut, that you think will make it?

I will give my two players when I get a little more time......... (in a day or so)

I think Mauro may make it. I also think Carter will look avg at OLB and they will resign Harrison, prompting him to get cut.

Not even including the fact that Carter plays ST, and Harrison does not. Only way Deebo gets signed is if someone gets hurt

Tauren pool has a good shot at being #3 RB.

My guess is Alan Baxter takes Carter's spot this year and Howard Jones replaces him on the practice squad. I also don't think any UDFA do more than make the PS even a few drafted guys probably don't make it.

Alan Baxter was cut by the Steelers last year and is not on the roster

To this point, Thomas has been running with the 1st team on the LEFT. Heyward is in Diesel's old spot. May be to help with Jones's development or something else is afoot.

They want Heyward on the right. The RDE has more single gap assignments and is more of a pass rusher. That's Heyward's specialty. The left is more of a two gapper and absorbs more double teams. Cam Thomas is the stronger ( and slower) of the two so he'll stay there.

Heyward has always been seen as a RDE by Tombert. That's one of the stupid reasons why it took so long for Heyward to get on the field.

It was obvious Heyward was better than Ziggy Hood, but the coaches wanted him as Keisel's replacement (and Keisel kept going and going and going). Still not sure why on that issue, but they were so dead set on Ziggy as LDE and Heyward at RDE that they didn't always play (IMO) the best players.

Not sure I like the idea of Thomas getting a lot of snaps this year. I really hope Tuitt shows enough to move into the starting LDE (if that's what they want). And if they bring back Keisel, then Heyward is probably back into the LDE spot anyhows.
