Who is the most deserving Head coach not in the hall of Fame

The issue is that technical issue I spoke of earlier… going off pure stats, Smith is an average HOF player and ward is extremely Borderline … but with context Wards resume is actually better

Smith had a special trait with his speed and was productive for being undersized. He had 8 1,000-yard receiving years and lead the NFL once in receptions, yards, and TDs. 81 TDs over his career and two first-team All Pros. What puts him over the top is playoff performances.

Smith has the fifth best playoff performance ever with 404 receiving yards in the 2003 postseason. He only ranks 29th in postseason receptions, but 17th in yards (over 1,000), and tied for 10th in TDs. Nine touchdowns in 11 games and scored at least one touchdown in all five of his playoff appearances.
He was really good. but I cant recall 1 single play of is career

Keep in mind he won the first 6 years consecutively his division (might have been making the play-off).
Also he got to 6 AFCCG's while The Coach With No Losing Seasons has been to 3.

What hall of fame coach has a losing record in the playoffs, almost always had a hall QB, and did not win playoff game for six seasons in a row? Well I'll be waiting for the answer...maybe for as long as you live.

Why are you yelling? Rough night in the luxury vehicle? Perhaps try a back pillow for extra comfy while sleeping.

Those hall QBs are cool but they always seem to have tunnel vision.

Unless it is a dining hall QB. those guys tend to eat themselves out of the league

Then you have your Hall and Oates QB, they tend to have an extra hitch in their giddy up and go.

I can't go for that

No can do

I know it doesn’t mean jack sh,……. But he will lead the new NW wing of consecutive non-losing season recipients.

Tomlin will get in, but other than win % and riding a HOF QB to season wins…… what else is he known for? 1-SB ?

Salute the nation
How does he get in? Seriously, what are his accomplishments?
A SB or two does not a H.O.F. coach make. He needs to win out in order to NOT BE the guy Ben Roethlisberger carried through his entire career.

Tomlin is 17th all-time in wins. Seven ahead of him are already in the Hall of Fame and you can expect Belichick (though, he really has been mediocre without Brady) and Reid to also make it.

Tomlin is 22nd in win percentage, however, 10 of those coaches coached for under a decade. He ranks 12th all-time at 68 games over .500. His 10 playoff appearances is tied for 13th, though only Steve Owen (10...I'll let you guess when he coached) has fewer playoff games. Excluding Owen, only Marty and Chuck Knox have fewer playoff wins with at least 10 appearances. Again, excluding Owen, of the 17 head coaches with at least 10 playoff appearances, only 5 are below .500 (Marty, Grant, Dungy, Knox, and Tomlin).

Tomlin's years at or above .500 will certainly push him over the top. Impressive for the Steelers to hire three straight Hall of Fame coaches.
