Who should start vs the Colts?

Is McSorely even dressing for the game?
Gets called up for the emergency QB on game day. Like Flacco but Flacco starts lol
As for arm strength, Trubisky may have some juice behind his throws, but his passes seem to find receivers dressed in the other team's uniforms way too much for my liking.

I KNOW why we signed Mitch... Ben had retired, we were down to Mason, Paxton Lynch, and I think Dwayne Haskins. Mason had only one start the year prior and that was the tie vs the Lions. There was not much to be excited about going into 2022. We HAD to sign a veteran FA QB, and so we signed Mitch, hoping that some of Josh Allen's magic had rubbed off on him as his backup in Buffalo.
I totally understand signing a vet. We needed some competition at the QB position.

Then Kenny dropped pretty much unexpectedly to us in the draft. Even Kenny haters had to agree that it was a foregone conclusion that we'd draft him. (The idiotic draftniks that had us picking Corral, Ridder, or Malik Willis probably would deny saying so today.) And waiting until 2023 (a better QB class) wouldn't guarantee us getting a better-rated QB than Kenny was, certainly not in the top 5 for Stroud, Young, or Richardson. Mitch started off 2022 but was given an early hook, deservedly so. And Mason went on the back of a milk carton.
I really don't think Kenny's drop was unexpected outside Pittsburgh. I think Colbert was taking a QB come hell or high water and just ignored the red flags on all the QBs in that draft.
Now for the topic, I say give Mason the nod. We're almost certain what we will get with Mitch, and in this offense that means something like 13 for 25, 180 yards, 0 tds and 1 or 2 ints. I feel that Mason's been neglected for so long sitting on the bench and may have something to prove, and perhaps put it out there for his next team (whoever that may be). Mason will never start for us or be nothing more than a backup for any team, but let's just see what he still has. Like's been said a lot, we know what we have in Mitch, and it ain't good. Let's see what Mason can do. I do remember his ability to get the ball downfield accurately at OK St.... here's a video compilation of his passes to James Washington (I had sure hoped they would replicate their success in college to the Steelers but that never materialized...)

Every Mason Rudolph to James Washington Touchdown EVER ( 2014 - 2018 )
I am fine with starting Mitch vs the Colts. But if Tomlin didn't give Mason a few extra snaps and if Mason didn't stay after practice to throw routes to any receiver willing to stay after practice then I wouldn't have high hopes of him coming in a crushing it. Who knows if DJ or Pickens would stay after practice but I bet you guys like CA3, A-Rob and Boykin would. Knowing there's a possibility of a change you would think those guys might want to ride the coattails. That way if Mitch gets pulled Mason has some chemistry with some of the receivers on the team. I mean we are pretty deep when guys like Allen Robinson and Calvin Austin III are your 3rd and 4th receiver.

Winning consistently in the NFL is not easy. A breakdown in any ONE area can be the difference, breakdown in 2 areas and odds are you lose. The steelers are currently experiencing breakdowns in multiple areas, this makes winning unlikely until some of the areas are addressed.
Well they go in EVERY week with coaching already broke down on the side of the road

So if 1 thing else goes wrong, they’re screwed and some league bottom feeder is stealing their lunch money while they wait for a tow truck

Yep

Tomlin can't start Rudy, or even use him unless Mitch gets injured because of the crowd chanting "Rudy, Rudy, ....."

"Fire Canada" chant worked.
If the "Rudy" chant works, then the next one is "Fire Tomlin" and precedent is clear.

I just read two different quotes from Tomlin saying that Rudolph wasn't ready and he never considered putting him in. If Rudolph went in and played well. Doesn't need to be great but like he did his last two starts I wonder if it would be enough for Rooney to see his failed experiment with Tomlin should be over.
I really doubt THAT would be the reason to expose Tomlin as the average coach he is
