Who would you take? Pick one.

JPJ all day! You must have a solid center and we’ve ****** this position up far too much recently ignoring some really good centers in the draft.
Cool Shades would rather go for the flash instead of building from the OL. You see where that has gotten us.
I wish they’d keep him away from player personnel and just make him deal with coaching and player development if he can handle that.
Tomlin is the type of guy that would buy brand new shiny rims for a car with a blown head gasket

How often do quarterback draft classes turn out the way people predicted even a month before the draft, never mind more than a year before the draft?
Somewhat. The weak ones seem to follow -result out with weak results overall. It is the ones considered strong that tend to follow suit or flip flop into disappointment. Just so many variables that go into a QBs projections plus the demand just doesn't meet the supply.

I have that home cooked recipe that I paired with a generic store bought version. I put it into an identical looking bowl and bring it out to the table where you sit.

Could turn out that my cooking skills suck and the generic store bought version is tasty. My homemade version has pretty toppings but yeah just didn't taste good.

Or the opposite the store version tastes like it looks blah. My home recipe bats it out of the park it is delic E osis.

You don't know what you are getting until you dig into my metaphor.

So more importantly which dish has bacon?

I'm going C or tackle round 1. I really don't care what qb is on the board. They will all do better with a great OL. A great OL buys you time in the passing game and opens holes for the RB.

It must be addressed, or you will pay for it when it matters most in the playoffs.

They need a great draft again this year. Which still won't amount to a hill of beans if they don't start playing chess on offense and defense.

Now getting your players to buy all in, be selfless, go above and beyond while having tunnel vision toward the prize is the biggest challenge.

I see a lot of selfishness and me people on the team. You can't have that. I'd remove anyone who can't get with the program.

Nix is that rubber ball that keeps bouncing off the wall. As the ball would go in different direction, so has my opinion wavered. I am leaning that he would struggle as a pro. But there is part of me that thinks put him on a good team capable of QB development (yes that obviously would cross the Steelers off the list) he might be a Brees type of QB.
Exactly...

Slash, I love ya, and I in no way mean this ignorant. But the first thing that popped into my head was…….🤣🤣🤣🤣

If it's my decision I trade up and pick McCarthy. He is the perfect QB for our new OC and he will be a star in the NFL. I Trade KP and address the line the best I can this year. This type of QB draft comes along about every 20 years we need to get our guy this year. McCarthy is super smart can make every throw and can move the chains with his feet.. I think it was the PSU game where he threw a TD on a rope right past the DB's head. the DB said he never saw the ball he just heard it.

McCarthy's three years in college destroy Pickets first three years in every category and it's not even close add to this that JJ was out of most games in the third qtr because the games was so out of hand.. Pickett is what he is. McCarthy's upside is tremendous. McCarthy also only lost ONE Game as a starter in high school and college combined, he also has a state Championship and a Natty. he is a ******* winner. GO ******* GET HIM.....

I just watched Rudolph do better than Kenny over the last 3 games, than anything Kenny has done over his 2 yrs. That said, I'm not sold that he's near the answer. Mix has great accuracy. He's want inch taller than Kenny. Why don't we double down on QB, and pick up the WVU center in round 2?
We've just proven we can get by with sub par center. Plus you know the Steelers won't go Into the draft In a needfully state. They will fill center with a FA first. Maybe it's not nix. Maybe it's some other round 1 QB. Just trying to gauge interest.

You guys are more wrapped up in drafting a center than a franchise QB. That's where I'm going with this dino

It is just the value at the position available vs other positions availability.

By the time the Steelers draft at 20 how many QBs will be off the board? Three at least, maybe more. Everyone wants better QB play. Rudolph did ok in a short body of work. I think overall was more what Kenny didn't do than what Rudolph did do. How many points did Rudolph produce in his last two games?

17. If Kenny produced that the pitch forks would be out.In fact they have been all offseason to date. That hate was in full force throughout the web. I get it we want better overall play at the position. It is popular to pump one up and knock down the other. But neither played good enough when it mattered.

So IMO that brings us to things that need to happen. First a vet needs brought in. Not sure that should be Rudy. I think we saw his best and that is ok short term. But we need a guy that can produce more than 17 points a game in a longer time span. If Kenny is retained (he is) then you know he has struggled with points you don't want to match it with another QB that struggles with points. They need to upgrade Rudy. We can debate in who that is but still it needs to happen. That is without whatever they do in the draft.

Then in the draft they need to either trade up in 1 or draft BPA at QB within whatever round the position is the BPA at their pick.

One guy. Or two if there is one there late.

We are fortifying the position with the best chance of the position being successful for this upcoming season.

If they stand pat and a QB isn't BPA? Then you don't draft them in that position. You maneuver to get one. If that entails trading up or down in whatever round you do it. Better sooner than later.

Which brings me to the last point. You don't win anything significant with crappy trenches. You have to build them up. Right now C is a priority position, until they take that priority away. Which I expect they will do early in free agency. Maybe even day one. Then they need to attack the other biggest weakness CB. If they are smart that will be a day one free agency grab too.

Then in the draft they have the flexibility to make QB more of a priority and should.

Sorry ,you lost your Mason Rudolph bashing rights a long time ago
Who is bashing him? I didn't lose rights to anything. Little odd choice of words but whatever. Do people have to agree with your take or is it ok to have a different opinion?

Rudy performed solid in a short span that is it. Nothing more. If you think he is more than that, that is your opinion you are entitled to it.

I won't pretend that he scored more than 17 points in his last two games. I won't pretend he doesn't still have trouble throwing into tight windows in the redzone. I can like what he did for the team without glossing over the fact he played a team without their franchise and another resting their starters, and another that struggled on defense prior to the encounter.

I evaluate in a fair playing field I won't sugarcoat what isn't showing. Sorry if you are looking for me to blow smoke up his arse you are debating the wrong person.

We shall see how it plays out moving forward. Don't be shocked if it ends how it started though. As Rudy has had plenty of time to show he is a starter and has shown that he still has the same concerns.

I do give him credit in showing he is a backup capable there is nothing wrong with that. Good for him moving forward.

I don't think anyone believes Bo Nix is a franchise QB.

He definitely comes with question-marks. Enough to question selecting him in round 1.

Hell Kenny's question-marks were well documented here. Way before draft day.

I like Nix and Frazier. I'd trade down and likely still pick both of them up in the second round.

Definitely what I see both of them as. Second round prospects...

Please disregard nix and jpj . If a top tier QB and a top tier center are available. Are you going to bank on Kenny picket to go the distance next year based on what you have seen from him in the first 2 years?

I'm gonna do like the cardinals did and pick up a Murray. Rd two I'll pick up that center from WVU.

This team has many holes and is going nowhere the next couple years, so now is the time to draft foundation players.. All this BS of reloading not re-building, is just that, BS. This team needs rebuilt. It isn’t a teardown to the studs rebuild with new everything, but it is definitely a requirement of a major overhaul.

When building, there is a reason you do the foundation first. The same goes for a solid sports program. The OL & DL are your foundation, and this team has a crumbling foundation on both sides of the ball.
1. Highest rated OT or C
2. Highest rated DL or OT and C not taken in Round 1
3. Highest rated position not taken in Rd 2 or CB
After that look to fill with BPA in area of need.

FA signings are going to be at best 1-2 year players, since they are not in a position to get top players that are young enough to fill for 5-7 years. This is why you need to draft players to start in 1-2 years. They are in need of 3 QB’s, I fully expect at least one to come via the Draft, but don’t expect it in day 1, or even possibly day 2.

FA QB’s I would pursue:
Minshew
Mayfield
Huntley
Browning
Tannehill
The first two as competition to push KP, and start if they are better. The final 3 as possible B/U QB with an outside chance to start. I would also look to poach a PS QB as #3 with a chance to be the B/U. Taking a QB day 3 of the Draft means they compete for #3.
