When Canada was promoted, we were told the his offense was all about play action passes and lots of motions.
Steelers currently have 45 play action pass attempts which is 27th in the league.

This is the one and only time I will defend the dumbass, but, it is really hard to run play action when you cannot establish a running game. We had next to no running game the first half of the season, why would anyone feel the need to respect us handing the ball off when most of the time, their DL can shut down our running game with no help from the LB or Secondary.

The Steelers were too busy running out of the shotgun with five wide during 7 shots during training camp to establish a running game. The lack of ground game is a philosophical organizational decision. They seriously thought drafting Najee was going to fix it by itself.
I am not disagreeing at all...hence why I did not assign blame for the lack of a running game. There are a plethora of issues with this offense, and no one player is going to magically fix or address those issues. Also, until we have the right personnel OR get the most out of what we do have, a lot of discussion on scheme is a moot point.

I saw an interesting quote from Pickett. The goal line run on 3rd and 2 i think it was, was Pickett's call. He said it took it to TOMLIN and SULLIVAN and they were on board with it. I was wondering why Canada wasnt involved? Maybe things are going on behind the scenes and KP kinda let it slip. Here is the link. It was a pretty good read overall. In a set of similar circumstances.... I would try not to. Besides he knows Canada is busy chewing on those crayolas.
Figured I'd bring this topic back to the forefront now that we've won a few and scored a few points. It seems some local pundits are saying Canaduh deserves to come back. I still say no way. So far, he has been able to call a couple decent halves of football but then falls off a cliff. He still has no idea how to get his top playmakers involved and the O is still making too many stupid penalties. Anyhow, what do you all think? I still say no. He is doing a little better but a couple halves of good O does not save the stench from a year and a half of absolute suck.

I say no. I didnt get to watch most of the game, but I caught the 4th quarter and was able to listen to the 3rd. How many times did we try the Gunner sweep? I will say we have been consistently scoring, just not converting TDs. I did like the QB run at the end of the game. It didnt work, but I thought it was a good call. Pickett slipped and the D wasnt fooled so have to give the ATL D credit there. Canada can not seem to figure out how to use everyone and calls way too many gimmick plays. We should have enough talent at WR and TE to not have to resort to gimmick plays. Most have been drive killers. Even guys like Heyward and Warren have shown to be good in the passing game, but we would rather run a jet sweep. A couple lineman and a good coordinator will make the offense much better.
Pittsburgh sports writers are real click bait specialists. I read one today that they should not only bring back Canada but extend him. Like cmon. They don't even average more than one TD a week.

People have been saying that on the board for weeks now. The offense will pick things up, start to look like they're playing better as a unit while winning some games and Tomlin will bring him back to keep the continuity. It was bound to come from a writer, but funny it was from Zeise who wanted Canada out earlier in the season.
They are 27th in yards and 28th in scoring. Yeah that is the continuity they need. If Canada's desk isn't cleaned out the day after the season they are beyond hope.

My fear is though,............ somehow Coach Tomlin keeps him on................. Wouldn't surprise me on the ineptitude of what's been done retaining him this long.

Damn straight DIC, shoulda fired him last season
We both know it doesn’t matter a bit as long as Shades is here.:..we’ve seen the Fichtner/Tomlin offense and the Canada/Tomlin offense and IF Canada is unceremoniously not resigned we’ll see the FNG/Tomlin offense which WILL suck too
Seems like there may be a common thread to these offensive offenses
