William Jackson lll to Steelers

It became a necessary evil by not using the R word when it applied and trying to be feaux contenders these last two or three years kicking salary down the road.

You and I are in agreement on most things Steelers but salary cap management clearly is not one. Again numbers could be incorrect but I have read the Steelers are projected 15 -20 million under the cap for next season. Paying a starting Qb 3.2 million. That is astoundingly bad management in my eyes.

Someone would need to do some serious homework to figure out which of those teams listed in the top 10 or 15 is better off come next off season. For instance we all know the Ravens need to deal with Jackson so that 44 million under the cap at the minimum cut in half if they only tag him. I'm sure many teamss have key players who they're going to have to shovel a boat load of cap space to keep them around.

Sutton is the only player on the Steelers who's contract is up that I'd prefer they keep and it won't require a mega contract.

Pittsburgh is not paying Jackson lll what he's due so I'm not losing sleep over it.

Very good post KStilley, thank for all your great ones along the way. I hear yaz on the teams that will have the "big" contracts due next year.

Take the Bears, They will have 1/2 of their 107mil eaten up by the contract Chase Claypuff will think he's entitled to.

They had a pretty high $$$$$$ run on them, the proven ones that is. 26-34 million per/ would be my educated guess without looking it up.

To much for any of our's that are on this current roster.

I would say several of those teams are as bad or worse then the Steelers. I wouod say the Bengals, Patriots and Seahawks are in significantly better shape as they are playoff contenders now and have more cap space.
But I don't think 15 million is making the Steelers any better next year and they couldn't really afford a 3 million dollar boner move on WJIII.

I'm sure there's teams that will be in better shape cap wise than the Steelers but as I mentioned, avaliable money is deceiving. Take for example the Patriots who you stated will be in significantly better shape than us. Wide receivers Nelson Agholor and Jakobi Meyers are free agents next year as well as safties Jabril Pepper and Devin McCorty, maybe their best corner in Jonathan Jones, RT Isaiah Wynn and running back Damion Harris. I believe there's another dozen or so free agents that are role players.

My point is the Steelers will be ok cap wise, they have the option of gaining another 8 mil in space (I think) if they release Trubinsky. I don't see them retaining an 8 million dollar back up.

Maybe they shouldn't have brought an old flame of Tomlin's on board but I'll wait to see how it turns out before I get myself worked up.
