Wonder what Rooney will say / do

Unthinkable? Did you travel back in time about eight years? Getting knocked out in the first round is the status quo.
And not just knocked out but floored. We've given up over 40 in our last 4 losses. Over 40. 4 in a row.

His thinking seems to be anything that limits the number of possessions by the other team. Has always also driven me nuts watching them usually snap the ball with one or two seconds on the play clock on offense. It's a tired template.
Also makes it easy for the D to tee off

The maddening thing the last few weeks has been the refusal to use timeouts on “weighty” downs in the first half when the offense is still scrambling to get set up looking totally discombobulated with 1 second left on the play clock. Russ furiously clapping for the ball and nobody ready, but sure run the play anyways🤦🏻‍♂️

Shockingly every time I see this scenario it’s a f’ugly play followed by a punt.

Better usage of timeouts in the first half would be a welcome change and not an unrealistic expectation for such a long term HC

Ok. Let's have a football discussion. What would you do with the limits on offense over the last number of years? I can understand the approach, with the QBs they have had and lack of a 2, an explosive running back and a young OL. This is a case in which I can understand what they are doing to some degree. They should throw more on first down. Warren should be starting. They should go over the middle more. They have tried tempo...it's worked ok at times. They need to limit the possessions of the other team. We have seen the last two weeks what happens if they don't. The defense has been designed that way since 1992. Maybe a way to a better offense is to change the defense so that doesn't have to be such a concern.

Can't they at least exploit the middle of the field more instead of living in their fears that passes will be tipped or Ints? Other teams seem to do it to us. Essentially they're playing safe and it may get them 9-10 wins but they have nothing to lose opening it up some at least at the end of halves here and there. I can see why he does it but it's just so unimaginative and it has never been easier to use the MOF than today with the flag rules.

You're asking Mediocre Mike to increase his risks by 2%! That's unheard of.

The D thinks 10 play drives of 95+ yards for TD’s is “limiting possessions”. For some reason, getting yourself off the field in less than 4 plays doesn’t cross their minds.

We are going to lose our final two regular season games and then lose our first round playoff game. Book it and make some money. This team is not good.
Already made that bet, wasn’t a huge amount, so if I don’t win it isn’t something to get upset over. I do like my odds of winning though. Also have another that the D gives up 36 points in the 1st (ok, their only) playoff game, I got 30:1 on that one.

Your bet was the D gives up 36? Or the Steelers team gives up 36? Don't forget, when the Steelers give up 30+ points there's usually one or two touchdowns resulting from pick 6's or fumble returns.

Tomlin is a scumbag IMO. You'd have to be to keep seeing the stands packed as you dissappoint them over and over and over. DIRTBAG.

Mike Conlin.
He has conned this team's ownership and half the fans that he's a good coach. True.

Tomlin has been conning the Rooney family for over a decade.
Nothing will change.
AR2 will come out and spout his usual bullshit about how he believes in Tomlin's approach.
Next year, we'll all be right here at the end of December, wondering how ownership just doesn't see the pyrite that is Mikey T.

Good point, I rechecked, it is just that the Steelers opponent scores 36.

That is a personal attack of the man. No way you can make that stick. As much as I dislike him as a HC of the Steelers, I have always said that he seems to be a great individual. Kind of like Jimmy Carter, a very good human being, not right for the job he was hired to fill. (BTW - that has nothing to do with politics)

Ahhhh...ok. 😉

CONlin figured out a formula long ago: play extremely conservative, let the crap teams beat themselves, beat 1 or 2 decent teams and Voila…..winning season. No chance the Rooney Rule founders fire him. Thats their proud legacy - using the Steeler name for social justice. We are held hostage as fans.

The Steelers won't score more than 16 points in either of their final 2 games.

Oddly enough Mike would likely be a “great politician”

Can spin things ✔️
Ability to waste resources ✔️
Ability to get nothing done that matters ✔
Spends way too long in role ✔️
Completely useless ✔️

The math adds up, go into a new career Mike…please for the love of the Steelers just go away

The only thing I expect to happen in the offseason is that Teryl Austin will be FIRED and made out to be the problem on this team!

He's definitely a problem....a terrible DC who should have been FIRED 4 years ago! Guy was awful in New Orleans and even worse in Cincy. Now he's got the most expensive Defense in the NFL and he still SUCKS! He can't even move TJ Watt around on that Front to get him into a position to succeed!

Not really political either, but I would argue that Jimmah did scumbag is as scumbag does when he took the opportunity to attack GWB at Coretta Scott King's funeral when both were in attendance. That was cheap heat and low rent.

For the record, I don't really think Tomlin is a scumbag either -- just intractably stubborn and arrogant as a control freak.

He's a total POS. The way he jerked Fields around (and alllegedly Picket) shows who he is. LOL at being involved in the community, etc. LOTS of dirtbags do that for their image. You won't change mt mind no matter how much you cluck.

Saintly man! Don't you question his integrity! He passes out presents!! :ROFLMAO:

a football player with the number 21 on his jersey is running down the field
